New Buell 1125R launched
waspp replied to Guzzirider's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Still several years behind the times as BMW and Aprilia move away from the trusty appliance Rotax engine, IMO Buell suffers from an identity crisis and the 1125 is just plain ugly. -
Have you checked your air filter? After the winter months mine became an acorn storehouse which can affect proper airflow, also a friend of mine found the isulation under his tank fell down and blocked his modified airbox. I ended up making a pair of meial screens to install under the rubber snorkels to keep the critters out.

I have noticed a big difference when running certain fuel types, some gas runs better at a lower octane then i'll get a higher octane at another staion and it pings like mad. I may not be able to just blame an ethanol blend but possibly water or bad fuel. Also another V11 sport owner found the insulation under his gas tank would flop down covering his Feracci air box cover, it took him a while to figure out (it ran like crap) but all is well now.

Doug I would run through the usual suspects first with a low speed stunbling problem. Replace the plugs Check your air filter (I pulled mine Sunday after our ride....It holds a lot of acorns!) What fuel did you last use? I have noticed that 10% ethenol mix doesn't perform well. Check your spigots on the intake and make sure there is no vacuum leaks Eliminate the easy stuff first, that ususlly does the trick. Hal Also just take the crosover to the local hardware store and buy the correct bolt in stainless steel, some place Aubuchon Hardware has a lot of metric stainless fasteners.

I would agree with the others here, check your suspension settings and your tires. I have noticed when a tire gets squared off in the rear it feels clunkey (technical term), but you should feel real confident in the coners and notice the absence of chicken strips on those skins!

Great pics of great day! It was good to meet all of you and spend some time riding and of course eating. I motored home up 116 and came across a parade of Pierce Arrows, not something you see everyday, unfortuatly the bat was dead on the camera at that point. Hope we do it again and get a few more folks to join in. Hal

I'll see you guys there! How about Guzzilee...where are you? Ray are you going?

Intermittent NO START and no headlamp/brakelamp even after new Battery
waspp replied to RichPugh's topic in Technical Topics
I had a similar incident on my cafe bike but I was convinced it was the relay so off to napa for a replacement...it wasn't the relay just a suspect crimp connection, sometimes it worked sometimes not. It took a while to track down but its all good now. Make sure you check voltage at the starter solinoid there is a fine voltage line there between starting and clickykykykykyky Hal -
Yea...then sell them on ebay as the SUPERNITROUSALTERNATOR or the CHARGINATOR

If yoiu have a paint code that will help, I believe the RM has a multi stage built up paint scheme which requires two color coats (maybe a silver base then red?) It won't be cheap! Some shops can scan your tank and come up with a color match but these colors are difficult. I am a fan of 2 stage urethane paint very durable and easy to shoot, you can with a little elbow grease get a deep and clear shine suitable for shaving!

Intermittent NO START and no headlamp/brakelamp even after new Battery
waspp replied to RichPugh's topic in Technical Topics
It does sound like a relay issue but make sure all your connections are clean and good, even the sockets that accept the relays can get dirty or sloppy. Your ground is very important, being intermitant tells me its more of a connection problem than a faulty relay. -
Hey maybe the old "self retracting" sidestands on the tonti frame Guzzis wern't all bad! Just be careful when parking and hold it down with your foot.

Welcome and congrats on a nice looking v11 sport! Enjoy the ride!!

Yea that is correct, I forgot about that, 03 is a different setup. Also note the race ECU is just a stock ecu flashed at the factory with appropriate software, some race ecu's have other bike ID's on the sticker any 15m could be used so they reflashed what they had. Who knows maybe luigi fell asleep at the switch when yours came through.
-
The instructions that come with the race kit simply tell you to adjust valves, set the TPS and balance the throttle bodies, the ECU does the rest. My bike always seemed to run well even with the stock ECU but when I installed the race kit I noticed a difference, not a huge one but the bike seemed to pull more smoothly. I would guess something is not adjusted correctly. TPS or balance.

Did you have the wrong boss? I just bought a sping from cannon racecrafters to carry with me just in case.
