The Verdict Is In: Sasquatch Exists, Oil Filters Spin Off, And I'm
waspp replied to rocker59's topic in Technical Topics
Should the object be to tighten the filter to the point of bottoming the can on the block? That was one thing that bothered me about the ufi filter, it seemed to easy to bottom the filter out. I had one filter loosen on the T3, it was a ufi so I looked for one with a more substansial gasket the super tech. I use them on both the T3 and the RC, and they're always a bugger to get off! The plastic relief valve also concerned me on the super tech, it just seemed cheap. -
I think a scotchbrite pad would be okay, using it in the direction of the brush marks on the can, but a good idea to try it in a hidden spot first. Mine also have some marks on the top of the cans where the clamps came together, so I reinstalled them I put a small piece of rubber under that top portion of the clamp. Hopefully this will prevent any further rub marks.

Welcome back Joe! I hope you kicked yourself good and hard for getting rid of that nicely done Tri Color sport! (those interested in a ti color paint scheme would do well to look a Joes former sport) What a nice looking bike, in fact I hijacked a pic of your old sport to include on my screen saver. 1 no 2 no 3 pretty well sorted out from what I have heard 4 yes it has 5 not sure on this one waspp

Another Guzzi Tri color
waspp replied to DeBenGuzzi's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Have someone else pick your colors if your color blind! Or just blind! -
Just throwing it out there, but the guys in the west could meet somewhere in Pittsfield? Williamstown? or maybe Bennington? for breakfast and then we could ride to meet with the others for lunch. I guess it depends where our final direction or destination is heading. Hal

Welcome new Guzzi owners! You Mass guys be sure to check out the thread regarding New England riders, hopefully we can all get together some time. I'm just over the border in NY and ride alot in western mass, so keep in touch. Hal

Its youre bike so do what you like. IMHO (which is just as worthless as anybody elses) I would paint the fender the same red as the tank, lose the green tail and buy a cf tailsection. Bingo! With your present scheme of things the green tail just looks like it was added on because you needed one and that was what you came up with. With the red frame and red tank the tail really sticks out, another posibility is separate the body componets with a neutral color frame...black, then paint the fender green. Those V11's will always be a cool bike.

From the looks of those blue pipes i'd say you gave it quite a thrashing. Well done!

Where are you going to race it, around the living room? Just remember to wear proper head protection and riding gear!
-
That sounds like a good time!

I see DOUGDANGER is also fishing for a get together on the western side of Ma, maybe we could all join up and have 3 or 4 Guzzis in spot!
-
Larry, good to have you aboard! I'm also a T3 nut and love the old Guzzis as well as the new ones. Just a heads up there is a nice 2000 green V11 for sale at Max BMW in their NH store, very clean with a few nice extras. Its not a LeMans but it is that famous green with the red frame. Good luck as you look for a modern Guzzi SPORT bike! Hal

I got nabbed just outside of Pittsfield last year coming home from the IMOC show, It was getting dark and I wanted to get over Petersburg pass with a little daylight left. Fortunately they gave a pass ... because of my stellar driving record! As much as I hate the slab thats certainly possible.

Worcester is a bit of hike but I'm up for it. I do ride western Mass often Rt2, 16 and rt 8. and others roads over that way. Great area to ride, keep me informed.

Pete, I've put this off quite long enough so I will take one if available. I have forgotton the particulars so do I paypal the amount? Shipping would be to the US of A. Do you also supply the gaskets as per your recomendation? Hal

Has anyone seen the silencer for the 1200 S made by Mistral? Very nice old skool style in carbon fiber, I wish they made that style for the V11. Joev11 I was confused with their site as well, I assumed it refered to a single can system as opposed to a 2 into 1 system

Sportcyclepacific no longer has these guards, I tried to get a set but evidently they arn't going to run any more of them. I did however find the same guard in aluminum finish at a very fine price and they look great on the RC. http://www.guzzino.com/gugusqhe.html

I may just see you down there, the national SV rally is somewhere around that date and my son and I are planning to attend and spend some time riding the local roads. I will have to check the dates again but maybe we'll cross paths! Hal

Doug, Those quick connects are a pain, try putting pressure (slight) toward the tank while moving the plastic ring...it should come apart, it does take some force and all the while you think your gonna breake um! One of the fittings was broken by the previous owner on my Rosso and I ended up removing the quick connects with the use of some brass barbed ends and high pressure fuel clamps. Now just the old skool srewdriver removes the fuel lines. It was a last ditch fix that worked quite well and looks fine, as Greg said if the end going into the tank breakes other than a new pump housing unit (which by the way is made from an Italian company which makes auto tractor etc fuel sending units) your out of luck and will have to do what I did. Good luck, let me know how you made out. waspp

You can buy one at twisted throttle, a little more money but they are available and work very well. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/1862/467/

Doug I'm also up for a get together, I try to hit the Damn Yankee-Guzzi rally in Heath and ride in Mass and Vt often. I missed that Monson rally but did manage to attend the IMOC show...excellent.

I have a Nolan, I think N100e but don't wear it much anymore since buying an AGV on closeout from Dennis Kirk The Nolan always seemed very noisy and just didn't fit right. The new multitech would get me back into a flip up helmet, I tried one recently and was very pleased at the way it fit and how the flip up feature worked. I think its the best of the flip ups out there, a little pricey right now but I guess there are some deals out there.

Well when a wolf runs off with your sheep and your running after it in your little plaid skirt swinging a stick you'll wish you had a gun too!

Its not just a guzzi thing I have seen other plastic tanks with similar issues. Most any good paint or body shop can paint cycle parts especially plastic using the proper hardeners and flex aditives. I had my 03 done for about $650, much better quality than the factory.
