Cool Cats-kills Fall Meet ! October 2 and 3rd!
waspp replied to mznyc's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
I have been going to the color in the catskills the last couple of years and always had a great time. Usually I bring my Paris Dakar because there is some nice back dirt road riding in the area. I won't be able to get there this year but my son will be there leading demo rides for Max BMW. I hope the weather is good! Hal -
Thank you for your reply. I decided to drive 1600 miles over the weekend from PA to GA to get the '04 Nero Corsa. I knew there were a couple small blisters in the tank graphics. Could be due to the plastic fuel tank or the sun. It was a great opportunity despite those small blemishes. The bike was sitting for some time and the forks started leaking after my first 100 miles. I hope to get it back on the road for the weekend-- it was a blast while it lasted! If it's like the Rosso you will find the tank and fairing are clear coated and the tail is not for some reason. I have been wanting to get a new set of decals and when i called Agostinis in Italy a year ago they said they were still available and the price was $150 at the time. After repainting mine I left didn't replace the decals on the fairing or tank just in case I had to repair it. I don't ride that bike as much any more and should get it back to it's original paint scheme. Hal

Mines just broken in at 22k The only thing I had to replace was the rear master cylinder, it still has the original battery!
-
The beloved optispark, my 2003 still has the original but this year may be its last!

Congratulations that a sweet bike! I had the chance about 4 years ago to pick one up from a friend for $2000 and just couldn't spend the money at the time and I know I missed an opportunity. A friend got the bike and basically ruined it with mods. Hal

Thats a beauty! Congratulations on the sport, that is one of the best color schemes out there. Hal

!Update 10/15/11! Shifting still bad .Almost killed me !

Micheal FWIW when I replaced the shift spring at about 15k miles I used a cannon racecraft spring. I did have issues with the shifter sticking and generally not shifting like it should. After removing the cover several times I finally set the cannon spring on top of the broken factory spring and noticed the shape was different so I bent the cannon spring to the shape of the old one and its worked pretty well for several thousand miles. The tank can be repainted and should hold up fine if properly prepared. Its odd that the paint is cracked, it could be from stress on the tank or even ppoor fuel (ethenol). LeeI will be up at Heath as well so maybe I will see you there. Hal

Yup. I'll be there as well, but the V11 is staying home. Its always a good time and a great place to ride. Hal

Wow! That is nasty. A complete left side minus the head I would assume, hope you get her back soon. Hal

I was getting ready for a ride this morning and noticed my fuel tank has a large (2-3 inch) bubble down low towards the bottom just below where your knee would rest. It actually feels soft compared to the rest of the tank. There is no paint bubbles or peeling and no gas leaking anywhere. I did a quick search but came up empty but it seems like this has come up before. Hal

You might also check the steering damper, the seals can go bad and leak a small amount of oil. I have never noticed any oil on mine up around the steering head just the timing cover area. (22000 miles) Hal

Thats what I would suggest as well the spray dyes work well and since the bags are fabric it seems to penetrate and adhere. Nice to know the Griso bags may work with a little mod or two.

I have a very similar model using clear tubing and a pine board painted white. I also used atf as the fluid and now after several years its time to change out the tubing as the atf has managed to darken it so visibility is a problem. My 03 also has nipples right on the throttle bodies which feed (or used to) into the charcoal cannister.

I'm looking for an ohlins fork for my Rosso Corsa, the fork had a bend in it and the outer aluminum tube collapsed when trying to straighten it. Yea that stinks! One complete fork or outer and inner tube either would work. Thanks, Hal

Northeast V11 Foliage Gathering in October Upstate NY

bump I don't think any of us are very good at schedules but we should try to do a ride down near woodstock area this year. I will most likely be going to the woodstock vintage ride as well as the Rhinebeck super meet at least. Hal -
I would be interested in a long sleeve T probably black but it doesn't matter.
-
I have the original in my 03 Rosso Corsa at 20k. I have the feeling this will be the season I will have to replace it. I don't think miles is a factor just age. Hal

I was just looking at the Thruxton flyscreen today on the airtech site for my T3 cafe bike. Its a nice looking screen. I did see a V11 sport with a lemans 1 fairing that looks very nice, check it out. http://www.guzzista.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=696

This one makes you mad if you live in the US but very interesting. http://www.usdebtclock.org/ -
I haven't experienced any problems with the front crossover, I did several years ago buy a set of stainless sealing washers ?? to replace the stock cloth type so far so good. Good to know my seal failure is in line with others so I will renew both forks over the winter. That rear brake issue has me puzzled a bit as I have sought to figure out just what is up so I will examine it further thanks for the tips. The locking caliper has happened twice with a long interval of good use in between The rod in the mc had adequate play and the fluids have been changed regularly. Can these calipers be rebuilt? Somewhere I think I read they couldn't be rehabed.

Ok folks I am nearing 20K on the Rosso Corsa and I have had a few issues over the last few weeks. The rear caliper locked up and so far I haven't got that figured out yet so I stopped using the rear brake until winter repairs begin. Two weeks ago the shift pawl spring broke and luckily I had a replacement so that was repaired post haste. Now this past Sunday after a hard spirited ride with 3 other guys (MZ 1000s Buell CR 1125 and Kaw GPZ repop bike) a fork seal let go in dramatic fashion giving my caliper, disc and wheel a good oiling! So into the garage she goes for some TLC. My question is what else should I look for at this mileage while I am making necessary repairs? Any work that I should do as a preventive measure? I don't think my issues are at all bad, my bike isn't babied and its given me excellent reliability thus far! Still not sure about that rear brake brake either. Thanks Hal

Congratulations on the CR Steve that's a great deal. A friend of mine who I ride with ran out and got one for the same price,6K for red Cafe Racer. The bike is really nice and the fit and finish is top notch. Have fun! Hal
