  1. Yes. After stepping away from it and thinking about it the only difference was the new spring, so last night I removed the new spring and compared it to the old one and found the profile to be different. The coils were not aligned with each other and it caused much more tension on the selector arm. I put the new spring in the vise and reshaped it to match the profile of the old one and when reinstalled it worked fine! The spring was not bent correctly which put to much tension on the selector arm creating to much drag on the mechanism. I didn't really like the idea of reshaping the spring but we shall see how that will affect its life span!
  2. If you ride a snow machine you will love a Spyder. You can really make them go if you slide your arse around on the back like your in the snow!
  3. Yes. You can shift through all gears but when shifting into 3rd and above the shift lever fails to return by itself. I think it has something too do with the racecrafter shift spring putting to much drag on the shift arm.
  4. My experience on a Brutale wasn't very positive. to me the bike felt small and very twitchy. You felt like you had to ride it hard all the time to really have fun with it. Great engine with a lot of power but not my thing. Buy yourself a nice cheap SV 650, quick torquey v twin that set up right with toast a Brutale on the track.
  5. After 20000 miles my shift spring finally gave up the ghost and I enjoyed that slow ride home to the garage. I had another spring from Cannon Racecrafters and got right to the problem at hand. Everything appeared to be straight forward until I dry fitted the cover and found the shifter would not return when shifting to the higher gears. It downshifts fine but when going to third and above the lever stays up after engaging the next gear. You can push it down lightly and then shift up again to the next gear but the spring tension doesn't seem to be enough to return the lever. I have tried the various adjustments on the cover but still the same problem. Has anyone experienced this before or are their any ideas out there I could try. Hal
  6. Maybe you could find a hack to use as an everyday runner and save the Sport for fun. I recently picked up an old airhead that I use at work and running dirt roads, cheap enough bullet proof and a different kind of fun.
  7. I'm interested but I will have to check the calender and see if anything is going on that weekend. Hal
  8. NICE! What's your plan for a tail light? Maybe a strip of LED's around the bump tail. Hal
  9. I use the Tekno bags which mount on a steel frame. I usually leave the frame off and install it for a couple of months in the summer when I take a few trips. The bags expand to twice there own size and hold enough stuff. They work really well and its nice to be able to just unhook the bags and carry them into the hotel or tent. Hal
  10. Sorry that happened to you...bummer! I believe there is a parts diagram on the MPH cycles website. As for the parts you listed you be able to get replacements at a reasonable cost. I replaced the upper sump on mine last year and it was under $100. They had some issues with breakage around the kickstand attachment so they should be readily available. Buell directionals are the same and are usually in stock and are cheap. Don't forget to check ebay! Hal
  11. Hmm what to bring the Rosso Corsa or the GSPD the dual sporting ride sounds like fun but the twistiess of rt2 are also a blast. Hal
  12. I wasn't available during the week, but this weekend i'm hoping to head down to Rhinebeck for the motorcycle show. I plan on riding down on sunday am for the day. http://rhinebec.dot5hosting.com/ Hal
  13. I switched to elf 10w-50 4 xt this year but I don't know about the ZDDP levels if any. Where can these be found? Currently I don't have any bottles in the garage to check. FWIW I have found the oil warehouse pretty good to deal with. http://theoilwarehouse.com/?mainURL=/store...0_Campione.html

A nice compliment to a Norge, congratulations and well done!
  15. Excellent!
  16. Just an update: I was fortunate enough John here on the board had a used sump spacer and the bike is back together ready to go! An interesting find in the process was the sidestand bracket mounts differntly from an 02 to 03-04. My sump had one mounting hole and a fairly large bolt going through the bracket and into the sump. The 02 sump had two threaded holes smaller in size than mine. This leads me to ask if the newer bikes had more breakage issues than the previous models? Does the 02 sidestand use both threaded holes in the sump to mount the bracket? Inquiring minds have to know!
  17. Thanks for the heads up guys. It's hard to believe you could get that sump spacer for $135, thats not to bad.
  18. I just noticed my side stand on the 03 LeMans was loose and upon further inspection the casting broke where the lower bolt threads in. I just wondered if this has happened to anyone else and if so did you manage to have it successfully welded. I guess the other option is to locate another casting. Suggestions and ideas wellcome. Hal
  19. I believe the fuel tanks are made by acerbis and are ABS plastic. I have heard of issues with Norge tanks having problems related to ethanol as someone already mentioned. Its more likely a paint prep issue with bubbling paint, plastics can be a pain and imperfections begin to appear later on. I repainted mine 3 yeas ago and no problems with the ethanol fuel as of yet.
  20. Congratulation! Thats a fine looking V11 sport. There are a few other guys with V11 sports out that way so you may run into a few. I get over that way often, i'm located just west of Bennington VT in the great Tax state of NY. Hal
