Welcome black! Glad you found us. I think there are a few folks from out your way, that must be Guzzi nirvana out there on the left coast. Hal

The Arai helmets have different shapes to fit any head. My noggin is more oval and I found the Vector fit me really well so I bought this fancy one. The color is not purple like in the pic but different shades of bright red.

I don't know if they are still available but I got these from Jean Marc "zebulon" on this board. They are excellent quality and adjustable.

HELP with starting! New to motos + Used v11 = no idea where to sta
waspp replied to SFSig's topic in Technical Topics
Make sure the battery connections are good. You stated the bike came with a new bat so maybe the terminals are not making good connection. Its odd that the bike died and won't even turn over, that to me points to some sort of battery issue. Good luck. -
My 2003 in the US has the internal fuel pump. The unit is essentially an automotive fuel sending unit.

I'm not sure its way over priced, you sure don't want to under price the bike! I went to a dealer who was closing up shop here in the new england area and he had a 2002 LeMans brand new on the floor for $10500. It was basic LM silver and red with no ohlins or anything like the RC. I don't know what he got for it but I don't think your way out of line. I stopped in your shop a few years ago and had a good chat with you about your motorcycle buisness and also checked out that V7 you had...very nice! I hope you buisness is doing well. Hal

Welcome! You've come to the right place for information and opinions. Guzzi's are great bike and despite the somewhat scarce and ill equipped dealer network they are a whole lotta fun. The good thing is there are excellent dealers you can access online that are more than willing to help if needed and of course the vast resourse of this site as well. My V11 has been a great bike with very little issues and a blast to ride. Good luck of finding the right Guzzi! Hal

I would think a "special "model like the RC would be better left in stock or near stock condition. I mean you can make any bike a decent track bike but why take the risk of damaging a bike that may be of value in the future. I say keep it in the stock condition and ride it when you feel like it. If collecting is not your thing then sell it and buy a suitable track bike. I ended up having to paint my RC and had to remove all the flags, as it ended up I liked the look better but unless I can buy the factory decal kit from Guzzi they are gone for good.

The fuel light on my 03 no longer works so I just keep track of mileage using the odometer. The tach from the billybob should work as long as its the same general age bike. From 03 on (i think) they went to ITI instruments which most likely won't work on earlier machines.

Certainly if you love to spend money on toys and things hybrids are great but right now they are more expensive to drive than internal combustion powered vehicles. I'm not knocking hybrids I think they will eventually get the technology down and be cost effective but right now they are more of a gimmick. http://www.impactlab.com/2007/03/14/prius-...nmental-damage/

Boxer cup replica, thats a great bike! I ride with BMW tech once in a while who has one and its pretty impressive. I especially like the factory hard bags set up works great.

I believe the Volt is an electric car with a gasoline standby engine it is not a hybrid so you do have to plug it in. All i am saying is if you by a Suzuki sx4 for $13000 and its good for 100000 miles ...well you can buy a lot of gas for $17000 dollars! Plus the car will still run but you Volt will need a new load of batteries which will cost you a pretty penny! Correction the epa calls the volt a hybrid car with an estimated 48mpg rating. It primary engine is electric with a 40 mile dead range. The gasoline engine powers an onboard generator to charge the batteries. Buy a diesl golf and get 50 mpg!
-
The Volt will be great for certain people, i'm not knocking it all but at a price of $40,000 how practical is it? You still have to plug it in at when not in use and that electricity has to come from somewhere and its not free. the Economist did a study on electric cars a few years ago and found them less energy efficient than the internal combustion engine. Presenty they are working on bacteria battery technology that may provide a longer lasting, greater range battery for less money than present technology. To me it would be more practical (economical) to buy an efficient gas or diesel vehicle for half the cost of a volt or prius and put the cash in my pocket. But if you want to be the first on your street with a volt thats cool! As the technology improves the cost of these cars will come down but the electricity has to be made somewhere to charge your electric car. Most likely a coal or oil fired power plant.

As battery technology improves maybe electric cars will become a viable product for the general public. The Chevy volt has a 40 mile range with a fairly small battery unit (compared to GM's first electric car) but still is way to impractical for most drivers here in the US. Car companies have to provide products people will want to buy, if thats truck and suv's then thats what car makers will produce. When the government demands certain products be made because of some pet project or false crisis (global warming) then we are in big trouble. Its no longer goverenment of the people but central planning. Hybrid technology is getting better and better but the cost of hybrid vehicles doen't make economic sense. The prius for example will cost you way more dollars in the long run than similar sized gasoline or diesel powered vehicle. Its also been said the Toyota Prius is more damaging to the environment than a Hummer H2 when you take into account longevity and cost (both financial and environmentally) when you have to replace those expensive (toxic) batteries. One of the biggest reasons for the bog 3's trouble is union agreements that arn't sustainable. The average cost per worker because of retirement and health care is way higher than foreign counterparts. How do you level the playing field? US cars are restricted imports in Japan and Korea yet their vehicles flood our markets. Yes foreign auto companies have buit plants on US soil but most have been given tax breaks, government subsidies and even in the case of Honda and Daimler in Alabama taxpayer dollars to build new factories. The best thing for the US companies would be to fail and start again without all the past baggage they have struggled with for years. US auto companies make excellent products that can stand against any products out there, but the playing field should be equal. Why do we give foreign companies tax payer dollars to build plants here in the US which helps cripple our own companies? I own 2 GM products and have owned many more, my truck has 124000 miles on it with no major problems in its entire life. My wifes car is a Chevy Caprice with 160000 miles on the odo, a big 6 passenger car that gets 24mpg and nothing more than a set of plugs and an exhaust manifold that developed a crack. My previous truck had 297000 miles on the clock when I sold it and its still going. If you figure initial cost of the vehicle and regular maintenence these are some of the most economical vehicles to own.

There are a couple of dealers in CT, one is Branchville but I have no knowledge of their service work. There is a shop in Utica North Country Cycles he' is a good guy and will treat you right. It sounds like you just need a TPS adjustment and a balance, if you ever get up towards Albany I could help you with that, its really pretty straight forward. Hal

Cafe racer headlight
waspp replied to Guzzirider's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I used the cibie lens with the original T3 shell I liked the look of the wide chrome headlight ring but it was difficult to find. You might consider the tomaselli headlight mounts , good quality and work well. -

To answer your question yes. and maybe. To be honest guns are fun both to shoot and look at. They are much like Guzzis fun to ride and fun to look at, as well as modify and customize. There have been various laws and bans some which have come and gone but this may be the last chance to own some certain types of guns. Just imagine if they were going to ban the sale of all two wheeled machines above 50cc. its kinda the same thing.
-
Yup! I bought a gun on election day before they are outlawed and added to the ammo collection. Rumor has it the new administration will come after ammo and make it so expensive with special taxes that it will be just to expensive to buy. The selection of Rom Emanuel aka "the thug' dosen't look to promising for a center governence.

I wonder when Obamas "civilian security corp" will be formed. I think they used to be called brown shirts in the old days. Just one of the many promises the messiah has made! We shall see. In a side note the local gun shop was doing a brisk bit of buisness on election day!

Having the 1000cc bores helps a great deal with the pulling power, my 850 is somewhat flat and slow but cruises nice up in the 70's. Interesting comment on the fac and wirth combo, I have tried several combos of springs and dampers on my T3 and so far they all suck! I guess i'll give the fac's a try. I assume the wirth springs were progressively wound? Hal

Interesting stuff as I am Buell ignorant. It does seem as though frame issues could be resolved fairly easily for those of us who are gear heads. The new Buells all seem very short, I haven't ridden a Ulysses but the look is more Dual Sport than tour. I have seen several T bolts with 50k plus miles still hammering along. I don't think I'd ever buy a new Buell but would like to pick up a used one learn more about them. 19000 on my RC and only an odometer and cable! I agree not bad at all! Hal

Yup thats it!! Even the people in the ad are laughing at it its so ugly!
