I purchased the MRA taller windscreen for my RC, nice quality and works well. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/1862

Maybe something like this!

My pleasure as well! We should probably start thinking of a spring or summer ride and meet somewhere in a central location for breakfast or lunch and take a ride. Maybe south central MA or northern CT, Ouiji Veck is south of that as well as some others. Don't mean to hijack the thread just puttin it out there. Oh and by the way that Greenie is beautiful, (and I hate you for having nice weather :D )i'm always tempted to paint my RC that color but chicken out...someday!

Unfortunatly I think this probably true. I suppose from a buisness perspective why build a full line of bikes into 2 brands, I mean I haven't heard that Aprilia is planning on making a big cruiser! Maybe this is what they are thinking, leave the sport bikes and dirt machines to Aprilia and the rest to Guzzi. Maybe they wil come up with a free suspender promotion for the new bikes!

Painting a plastic tank is always an issue, the plastic tends to expand and contract and even with flex aditives the paint can separate from the primer or the tank itself. Its not uncommon. Mine had a small split up in the front and the paint separated, the split was ground out and the tank welded. No issues after 2 years.

Isn't that the truth! I haven't ridden since October! Today looks a little promising temp in the low 40's and believe it or not THE SUN IS SHINING! The roads are still messed up with sand and salt so i'll take a rip on the X and hit some dirt roads. Thats great V11c hope you have great first ride on that "greenie" !

I have the MRA taller screen on my 03 and like it very much. There is some side to side buffeting at high speeds but very little and within reason considering the speed. The fit was great , its a quality screen and Twisted Throttle was good to deal with. The only downside is the looks, not quite a sharpe looking as the stock screen but more effective.

The tank is plastic and the key to a succussful job is preparation and proper aditives for flexing. any good shop should be able to get the job done as plastic is common in all autos as well. I had my 03 RC done, fairing tank and pillion cover for $625 including all materials and some plastic welding of some breaks. In my case the biggest part of the job was getting rid of all those flag decals that were clear coated, lots of work taking those off.

Welcome Gavin! Sounds like you've had some interesting bikes there. As for recomendations about a 2 up Guzzi all I can say is my 03 Rosso Corsa has proved to be an adequate 2 up machine, its really not specifically suited for the task but does seem to handle it well. Rear passenger comfort isn't the best as the leg position is somewhat cramped, probably similar to the SV. The seat isn't bad and unlike the SV is a one piece design that according to the wife is fairly comfy. I know the only complaint my wife has is the lack of a back rest which could be solved qiute easily if I wanted to go that route. One thing I did was change the bar position (added risers) to suit my needs, also there are lower foot peg s and controls available for comfort as well, you can do a search for MATRA (Forum name ryland) who is a member who makes such controls. Hope this helps, feel free to PM any other questions you may have. Hal

I was there as well, it was great day for sure! He probably will stay open untill most of the bikes and parts are gone. i have the feeling the property is worth a lot of loot and doubt nothing short of a mega dealership would be able to set up shop in that location. I believe some of the tech guys moved on to branchville maybe?

That "cafe" sportster was called the XLCR and i believe it was only built in 1977. That was the only Harly I felt I wanted to own and still do, although truth be know that was when AMF built Harleys and bowling balls and bowling balls handled better and were mostly trouble free!

If needed I have parts 28, 27 and know that 20 is just a simple roll pin easily obtained. I installed new high rise clip ons and had to fab up the stock weight with other "things".

Whatever you decide its gonna look cool! I've only seen one of those Coppa's in the flesh and they are sharp!

Looking good there Greg! I can sympathize with you on the bending and fitting of damaged pieces I went through that process as well. IMHO I would not do the stripes on the side of the fairing unless of course you're covering up some scuffs or something. I like the outline in the front but have the feeling the sides might be to much, but to each his own if you like it thats what really counts. I love that Coppa color scheme! Hal

I just came across this ebay store which sells various hand built "race exhaust" and see they have several systems for Guzzi's. The 2 into system for the V11 is offered for $700 which considering its a whole sytem doesn't seem bad. Has anyone here had any dealings with these folks, or have one of their systems, I see they also offer a competition ecu as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=35619

Greg, I was just reading this thread and wondered if you got any satisfaction from FBF on the crossover? FBF isn't a real friendly Guzzi place, most times your just in the way if you ask pesky Guzzi questins. Of all the ones that you've seen crack did you try to repair any? Why I ask is if there are any available to experiment on I would be interested in buying a cracked one.

Greetings thommo! I'm not exactly what you want to do with the cafe sport but if your looking to install clip ons then finding a top triple clamp from a lemans would be helpful. That at least would get rid of the handlebar mounts and allow you to clamp some clip ons to the fork tubes or find a pair of factory lemans ones. Check the board here as i think someone was selling a top triple clamp from a lemans. Good luck and keep us posted. Hal

Welcome Nan and glad to here youv'e found a Guzzi to suit your desires! That vfr is a very nice Japanese "appliance", not that there's anything wrong with that, but you'll have great fun on that Guzzi. I agree with Martin most of the little issues have probably been worked out at 14k so you should be in good shape. We are all very friendly here (sort of) and willing to give advice (good and bad) and share our experiences (talk about ourselves). Hal

Thats really your call, however having done this in the past with different machines the engine usually stays intact sold as a running unit. ECU and the like could go either way depending on the reponse you get. Maybe publish a list of pieces , condition and possible prices to post on this board and others and tear it down accordingly. You could also look at some salvage sites like reboot guzzi spares to see his lists. I usually sell on ebay and end up with a few bits and pieces left over Good luck! http://www.rebootguzzispares.com/index.htm...frame.htm&2 Hal

Congrats Lee on the Breva! Lets hear some details...color new mods? Can't wait to check it out and hear your impressions. Hal

I have had experience with the following company. I had the rear wheel on my RC straightened after a major bend. It came back better than new, the inside was resurfaced and the wheel ground true after it was straightened. http://www.framestraightsystem.com/

Maybe sooner. Benelli now made in China, next will be BMW, yes I think very soon some BMW's may be made in China.

What a great bike, ram air two cycle! Back in the day we used to mess around with the 380's and 550's both very nice machines fast and would rip some great wheelies! Ours soon became equipped with expansion chambers and low bars and what a great sound. He's gonna love it! Hal
