  1. Not sorry at all actually (except for having the thought of a garlic high colonic pass through my mind for a second there). This is great feedback and very useful information (and I am enjoying the sparring between you two). Thanks to everyone.
  2. To dlaing and Ratchethack, Sorry I asked! (not really)
  3. Are you sure about that Steve? Have you actually tried it or seen it done? It doesn't look to me as if that will work but if you are correct than that is great news! Thanks for the tip.
  4. Wow...I really must be more cautious when posting a question on this board! Now I am being blamed for opening a whole can of worms? OK, I'll take the blame (since it does belong to me after all). Actually I really appreciate everyone's feedback. It seems the conventional wisdom here is to not get to crazy with the engine mods and I believe I will follow this wisdom. The Coppa Italia came with some really nice Ti pipes (they are really light) and a matching ECU. I like these very much but the problem is they are high mounts. My wife likes to ride shotgun quite frequently and I don't believe the raised foot pegs will be much to her liking. For this reason I am thinking about some low mount pipes such as FBF carbons and a power commander. I notice that a lot of guys are going with an X pipe like Stucchi's so I may consider that also. I am not sure if it is really needed given the fact that this bike has a stock cross pipe up front. I am also going in to have the suspensions static sag set up this spring. Bottom line is I love this bike so far. I am not looking for huge horsepower numbers, just a boost to that lovely torque will do quite nicely. I'll keep you posted on my progress (probably won't do too much before May/June timeframe).
  5. Wow…this is a great board! Thanks everyone for the response. I particularly enjoyed the discussion between Rachethack and dlaing. Rachethack, you stated that ‘ I personally favor the stock motor with Stucchi crossover, FBF oval carbon cans, and a PC III’. Is this your current configuration? I already have the PCIII (not yet installed) with a map for a stock bike. I have been considering just going with the FBF cans, air filter kit, and crossover pipe and skipping the high compression pistons and valve work. If this is in fact how your bike is set up then how do you like the change and where did you get your PCIII map? I think that this is where I will start (and maybe end) first. I can always go with the FBF pistons and a custom map later on if I am so inclined. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the feedback. Whatever mods (if any) I decide to go with I will be certain to post on this site along with my impressions. Thanks again. p.s. MikeC – I live in Morris Township, NJ (right next to Morristown). When the weather gets better we should consider hooking up for a ride. Mind you that I will probably have my wife with me (she really likes the whole passenger thing). We typically take some nice roads from our home down the Lambertville/New Hope area. It’s a really nice ride.
  6. Wow...Yes I remember you from that forum. Sorry to hear you sold the Aprilia. I just couldn't part with mine. If I couldn't get those brakes fixed it would be gone but so far they are working just fine. Yes the Moto Guzzi is a really great bike. It's not as fast as the Falco but there is something very satisfying about the way it delivers the power that it has. I also find it more comfortable and I really love the looks of the Coppa. It's just a great street bike. I read an article in one of the bike mags that compared the Coppa against a BMW 1100s , a Buell Firebolt, and an MZ twin and the Guzzi won that comparison hands down. That is what drew my interest to the Guzzi brand. I then found an online article on motorcycle.com that reviewed the Coppa Italia and that writer really loved the bike. A couple of test rides on a V11 Lemans and I was looking for the Coppa. I found one on the floor of the Aprilia New York dealership and really like the bike. A guy there by the name of Howie Mansdorf (nice guy) gave me a great deal on the bike and I am quite happy with my purchase. Can't wait to get it broken in. What model are you riding and how do you like it? Any advice you can share is appriciated.
  7. I bought the Coppa Italia in November 2005 and it's my first ever Guzzi. I must say that so far I am very happy with my decision. I also own a 2001 Aprilia Falco. I have been posting a little bit on the WildGuzzi.com board and someone there recommended that I pose my question on this site. So here I am. Thanks for the response. I'll try checking old posts (once I figure out how to do that).
  8. Has anybody out there tried any these mods?: http://www.moto-euro.com/sample_article_9.htm If so, what do you think of the results? I am particularly interested in the high compression pistons and their effect on the bikes power delivery i.e. more power and torque everywhere or just more high end horses? I work very near the FBF dealership mentioned in the article and am considering some or all of these mods sometime in the future for my Coppa. Thanks.
