  1. checking your valve gap is the simplest of tasks and YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF! all you need is a hex wrench and a feeler gauge. http://www.guzzitech.com/Valveadjust-terry.html http://www.guzzitech.com/tdc-tracy.html here's pics, http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?...mp;conn_speed=1 oh yea, you need a 11mm box end wrench and a vise grips or small crescent wrench. you don't need the big socket on the crank nut. you can rotate the motor by turning the rear wheel in a high gear.
  2. if this is a V11 it doesn't even have a crank sensor! maybe they changed the cam sensor? and I see they got him a TPS for 329. surely all those things together were not the problem, one of them maybe. FYI, you can get a better regulator from the aftermarket for less $.. and 32.00 Harley TPS will work..My V11 sometimes stumbles around 4200 rpm and does not like to cruse along steady in the range. I change the TPS and it got slightly better. someone told me that is the nature of the bike w/stock crossover. I plan to try smoothing it out some with a fine tuning of the TPS and redo the valve settings this spring. Have you looked at the relays? probably not related but funnier things have happened w/the stock Seimans relays, get a set of replacements from DPGUzzi.com for less than 20 bucks, if you still have the seimans try something else.
  3. hurry up w/the next installment.. is filling the void really going to increase comfort?
  4. I would worry the sport motor would over power the convert tranny, or running gear. but I did it with a EV motor and if I can score a v11 motor and systems I have all the convert parts to build one.
  5. Everything is gonna change, give the guy a minute to catch his breath.
  6. well it's not really cafe or muscle but I wanted to show my conversion. I started with a crashed EV motor, Convert running gear and SP body. had to use a cam and front cover from a vert to run the ATF pump. made the mags tubeless, modified the EV seat and luggage, modded the flywheel for the crank sensor but it was tricky, see.
  7. visceral, raw, sound, and the way you hold the motor between your knees.
  8. Get a new set of relays for under 20 bucks from Pyro Dan, dpguzzi.com you can download parts book and service manual here, http://thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/moto_guzzi_misc.htm
  9. ahh! thanks for reporting back.. were the originals Seimens?
  10. by my snowy video did you mean the icycle derby? I exported from Imovie and selected "for the web" and the mac calculated the size, that made it about 14MB size and was a pretty fast to upload to you tube, I think it has a little better quality than photobucket. so I didn't have to think about the size of compression at all w/you tube.
  11. if you had a .mac account you can host a larger file there and it doesn't have to be compressed as much. OR maybe you should try google videos? I had the same problem with photobucket as a host. who is your internet provider? they might have storage space you can use instead of you tube.
  12. then go to radio shack (in the US) and rumage through some drawers for a micro switch of the same size. take the one off your brake lever and bring it with. find a suitable substitute (you might have to break off a metal tang to match it up) then get a couple for about 2 bucks each! don't bother hoping the clerk will help you out, you already know more than he/she does.. they keep these micro switches in a stack of drawers for those in the know to find.
  13. LOOK FOR A CASH MACHINE FAST THAT WILL BE A STEAL OF A DEAL. The EV had tubeless rims and the steel chrome ones on a Jackal are the worst part about it. you'll probably need the seat re-worked. the EV LUGGAGE CAN BE ADAPTED. it won't replace your V11 tho..
  14. yes it is.. for downshifting it helps to load the lever then blip the throttle, it will slip right through the neutral space between 2nd & 3rd.
  15. this event has gone on in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA for the past 61 years! 50 plus miles, 27f this year.
  16. agreed/ the comfort obtained might make up for that?
  17. New Years day, 50+ miles, 27F the I-cycle derby going on now for 61 years!
  18. It is a dry clutch like a car.
  19. toggle that kill switch a little.. if the relays are Seimens I would scrap them right now.. get replacements from dpguzzi.com. if not the battery could it be the SS switch or kill switch? I don't think the motor would turn over if they failed? did someone close the fuel tap?
  20. I believe the odometer knob is a reverse (left hand) thread.
  21. If I wanted to carry a spare, do you have the part number? my dealer was not concerned when I asked about it.. I have 11,000+ miles now.
  22. I thought that muffler was out of production and unavailable?
  23. can you get your money back? the HeliBar co is right here in St Paul, MN... if you bought them, I could send them via USPS for about 40.00 for you. http://www.convertibars.com/ProductsBike.c...Next+Step!+
