  1. I got the bad black paint blues... its not even black anymore but whitish brown. so I sprayed it with WD40 and it returns it to black... this last a few days or more so try it if you have a hot date and don't want the rat motor look. I hope the dope who painted these engines was given detention and a fine.

    how many v11?

I want to know too. everywhere I go I have the only V11 LeMans.. are they rare? how many were sold in the USA?
  3. Tracey, good to see another Convert pervert here... Heres my 77 Vert with a 98 EV motor and Electrics.
  4. heres three choices, http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Paint-...-p-1-c-526.html
  5. I just put one in my Lemans... 34.00 from chicagoharley.com
  6. theres a whole slew of dyno charts on a page on top of tech topics, thats right on the page where you posted this. using the search mode will get you more answers that you'll need.
  7. I use a simple Cannon a640.. small but big in use....Consumer reports recommended it. the little rubber deals came off an older Guzzi, don't know which one tho they were in the bottom of my extra rubber parts box... they might have been seat bumpers or something?
  8. thanks for that link, interesting...I have a K&N filter so maybe a little more air flow will work well with the slightly higher fueling from the HD TPS.. gonna have to test ride more! what about the rusty stem?
  9. I have a rough spot in the rev range right at 4,000RPM, can't replicate it anywhere else, the motor sputters and surges... Here's my theory: based on the original front tire being totally worn out from the crown in the road at 7800 miles I think the PO was a commuter. He basically got on the freeway, jammed up to 5th or 6th gear and locked it down at 4kRPM drove on for 70/90 whatever miles/ day after day, rain or shine.. The bike shows some wear to the rubber stuff, it was in the rain.. (I think in Indiana).. that spot on the TPS got a little worn or notched from always running 4k.. hence the stutter at only that spot.. what do you think? I replaced it tonight w/a HD TPS (cost 34. +7 shipping) took a quick test ride after resetting the base level at 150mv and checking the idle setting (it was 482mv or something) I'll refine that this weekend. it didn't do the symptoms now as I rode a steady 4,000rpm in both 2nd and 3rd gear. am I right and have solved it? time will tell. One kind of disturbing thing was under the TPS the butterfly stem etc was RUSTY! should I worry? here's what I used to fix the speedo mounts that kept falling apart. I have two week vacation starting NOW... hope to ride a lot on both my working Guzzi's.
  10. maybe they don't fail often on V11 sport versions because they are mounted on top.. But the EV riders are always replacing them it seems like. and whats with the torx bit bolt head? stupid or what. I'm gonna replace em w/hex bolts. I didn't even know they used torx heads in europe.
  11. what? I'm a member of the cheap asz Guzzi club... last I heard the MG TPS was north of 232.00 before the dollar tanked. That savings gets me half way to the HB mounts I need and I will get them from a MG dealer, OK? they are both Mag/Marelli with one digit off on their part #... I'll give a report if I use it.
  12. Thanks I did find all theat previous stuff in search but didn't find any HD mentioned.
  13. I will try to find the spot w/my V meter, good idea... FYI, the HD TPS can be had for 34.00 from chicagoharley.com. the bike is stock 8k miles no PC. I will also drill the hole and clean it.
  14. I thought mine might have a notch or groove worn in it because at a steady 4,000rpm it hunts/surges and sputters but I can't get the symptoms anywhere else but right around 4-5grand rpm. elsewhere in the rev range it works smooth and perfect. I have done a baseline tps setting, set idle at 525mv and TB sync.
  15. is the TPS the same in a EV as my Lemans? can I replace it with a Harley Davidson TPS #27271-95 ?
  16. TAKE THE OLD ONE TO NAPA or an auto parts store, better yet a bearing house... then # might be 6204? fully sealed. you should be able to tap it out w/out special tools but don't bugger up the spacer w/your hammer. use some wood, same on putting the new one in. I'm not a mechanic tho I play one in my garage.
  17. Before you get into the power comander etc, I would set the TPS values and sync throttle bodies.. it may be all you need.. at least to get clean balanced ignition. heres a link to the procedure, its not very hard to do. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12204 http://www.guzzitech.com/TPS-SetBal-JMickowski.html
  18. theres an idea I haven't thought about yet... my other friends think I'd want an auto in the Lemans but oh no, she loves to rev above 5k too much.
  19. it is on the low fuel sender, but the pressure reg is the same as a fuel tap so if you returned the fuel in another way it would work... through the filler cap? some EV's have a pressure regulator that has a hose output instead of screw to tank fitting. I used one of these and added a spigot near the top of a steel convert tank for a fuel return... so you could connect both sides of the tank if you had a return hose elsewhere... am I making sense? I did this to run an EV motor in a convert.... I made the tank like an EV tank.. also modded the frame to be the oil breather like an EV.
  20. thats a standard Convert dash, big speedo no tach... Its no ordinary Convert tho... I have a 98 EV 1100 motor and all life systems with the vert frame and AUTO tranny! its like riding a magic carpet!
  21. seems to me if theres spark and gas there should be fire... could you have a bad connection where the plug cap screws into the HT lead from the coil? is it seated into the coil well?
  22. its all over the poor beast, I dont think any of the fasteners have been turned since 2002.. thats OK it only has 7800 miles and looking good knock on wood. I havn't stripped anything yet. the axles were on TIGHT! got new tires but need to source wheel bearings on sunday, might not get to ride yet.
  23. I had good luck with an aftermarket reg from Electrex on my Bassa... got it from Denniskirk.com same as a Ducati Monster... and yes the ducati regulator is stock on Guzzi.
  24. how do you get the bar end caps off? I took out the bolt but they are stuck in there.
  25. agreed, there are some tiny LED signals up next to the fairing I will replace. Did I hear Beull has replacements for 1/3rd the price? Oil looks good actually but I am wondering if it got a 6k maintenance? 7800 now... rear tire must have been change once (it has some tread) but it looks like the front was never off... the throttle bodies apear to have been tuned as the yellow crust has been disturbed. I plan to do a full service before riding, starting w/the tires.
