Thanks think I already some I had found some I hadn't what I was really after was some owner feedback kinda like this place rather than the factory press releases. Factories say all sorts of wonderful things about thier products which are not always grounded in reality. But yes 140 hp at 8500 and 90 ftlb's at 6700 engine by one of the gentlemen from Ferrari no Australian importer as far as I know so its all moot piont at the moment.

Contiuning to toy with various idea's apparently these have been on sale for around 6 months can't find much on the web well not that my limited language skills allow me to understand. Anyone had any feed back good bad or indifferent on these things? have seen pictures of the "new" guzzi sport bike but I'm not sure at the moment after riding the Griso I don't think the motor is a good sports bike motor in the current market. Athough it has made massive steps forward genrally as a motor for a motorcycle. Took the 1100 sport down the local drag strip the other night for giggles got down to around a 12.9 not too bad for a 12 year old bike thats done a fair bit of work. PITA to get off the line with the tall first terminal speed of 174kph and that incudes my woeful reaction time and using the clutch each gear change. Perhaps could get it down to 12.6/7 with better technique but I was only really curious it was fun but I would prefere bombing through some corners anyday.

Yeah but BMW were stoically german and wouldn't let those stinky motorcycle designers anywhere near thier pristine aircraft tunnel. Guzzi were just a bunch of perfonace nuts that wanted to go as fast as possible!

If you are still in Perth PM me f you like we can catch up and tell tall stories over a or two. -
The founders met up during WWI in the Italian airforce Carlo was the engineer? can't remeber but the company was started because they wanted to race I'm fairly certian even then the idea of aerodynamics was not lost on them. Merc and Auto Union were probally too broke to persure such frivolous sp? things. So when can I get a copy of this thing?

If its a sticking switch then it wouldn't always bump start ethier. Get battery load tested get charging system tested and make sure its charging the battery. If they all seem OK take it for a ride and when you park it up disconnect the battery you only have to do one terminal. Connect battery after leaving it usual period and if it fire up on the starter motor then you have a current drain somewhere.

Not familar with the AMA rules the WSBK Ducati's are pretty much specalist race bikes supposedly they idle at around 3000 rpm and are built under the old WSBK rules where the fours had to be 750's with a similar amount of modifcation. Witht he 1000cc fours running they muct be a lot closer to stock things like airboxes cranks some other major engine componets must be production based. Where as Ducati can pretty well replace anything it likes providing it keeps the production engine layout and capacity. The idea with the 1200cc thing is Ducati will be allowed fewer modifcations but the extra cpacity. Moto Morini has just released a 1200cc twin Aprilia has announced a V4 based off thier dirt bike motor which will go superbike racing wounder if Guzzi will pick up the mantle even if its just to develop the new water cooled motor (which I consider inevatible its just a case of when). Its probally more down to money than anything the WSBK is mainly a European based series Ducati's main market is still Europe so it makes sense that the factory puts thier biggest efforts in there. Its intresting because Matt Maldin is Australian he writes a colum in the odd local bike rag he keeps saying he won't go to WSBK if it means a pay cut which apparently it will be. Suzuki obiously sells a few bikes in the USA.
-
the 1200cc thing is more about getting the Ducati race bikes back closer to the production bikes. The same way the 4's are its about cost more than anything, I think Ducati will get it KTM and a few others are looking at if its allowed which can only be good for the series. Certianly that Ducati rips off the line and out of the corners a lot better than the fours seem to. Obiously a lot is related to how loose the nut is on the end of the throttle but Corser and Haga have proved they are no slouches int he past. Itsa ripping series anyway much better than the other lot with the ever shrinking grid.

Lots some one was kicking around a figure of $1800 thats possibly AUD I can't remeber anymore, its carbon fibre comes painted the colour of the bike with alternative clip on's all the mounting brakets etc etc. Try www.magni.it hopefully they have a got a little more rapid at replying or give TLM a go they seemed to have a lot better sucess talking to them. Or the other thing to do is hit the unbiqutious E-bay someone somewhere might be trying to sell one.

You should of gone the Germany with your Guzzi T shirt. The Italians buy BMW's and Mercs and the German's buy Ducati's Guzzi's and Alfa's. I guess it gives them a oppourtunity to make them perfect rather than buying something and messing with a fellow country man's idea of perfection. Dunno its odd but there are quiet a few articles kicking around about Italians that will passionatly support the home grown product but when it comes to forking thier own money out for one well thats different.
-
Actually what you should do is scrape enough money together anf it the Magni Fairing its actully designed for the bike and looks better too IMO. Athough some people don't like the proper clip on's that you need to fit with it.

V7 sport first production motor cycle to break the 200kph top speed barrier. Well more like stagger over the line 201kph feating four leading shoe drum brakes on the fron which servoed themselves on with a constant lever preasure. If you can find a geniune red frame tello rosso sp? then you have a very rare machine indeed, the powers to be at Guzzi didn't belive the model would be a sucess so the fist 150 were built in the race department. Featureing stuff like hand polished crank and conrods, the Italian Guzzi club have 155 listed of the first 150 made athough in true Italian fashion if you knew somebody who knew somebody you could get one made after they hit the production line. The forerunner to the Lemans 850 etc etc.

Aprilia used WSBK to develop its sports twin and the world supermotard series and now enduro series to fast track and prove the development of thier dirt bike V twin. Even if Guzzi just use it to develop and prove a new motor I think its highly possible. Aprilias motoGP efforts cost them more than what the 125GP, 250gp and WSBK efforts cost them combined. I think its possible they let Proton run without a equivlent street bike. I think Aprilia will re-entre with thier new V4. I think its Dorna that run the WSBK and they have to make a decision first but the 1200cc thing will allow Ducati to run a bike thats closer to the street bikes and thats a step closer to production racing which what attracts me to WSBK.

Probally more a V-strom tiger, athough which version are you talking about the 1000 or the 1100ie? There are quiet a few things going for it to make it a true DP bike however as with most the bikes built around the time Guzzi's development buget wouldn't cover a lunch meeting of HD exce's on thier anual handlebar tank colour shuffle hey we got a new model. So the lack of development kinda held it back things like larger aftermarket tanks, bash gaurds, aluminuim panniers simply don't exist for it ethier which doesn't help.

BRING IT ON!!!!! A while ago there was a rumour that Guzzi were goining to take over the performance Vtwin segment from Aprilia. Speculation suggest that the new Aprilia bikes would be Base on the Cube moto GP bike. Athough I remeber thinking recently that Aprilia had sunk a heap of money and time into thier dirt bike motor odd when thier main bike buiness is road bikes. Now it all starts to fit Aprilia will build Vfours based on the dirt bike motor and Guzzi will bring one something. I recently rode the Griso and felt while it was a lot more refined than my bike (not hard) it lacked that punch and stomp that my bike has. If I fork out for a new bike I want to upgrade the one I have not move sideways. Maybe we will even see a factory return to the track and add to those 3000+ race victories.

Actually its been 21 the tribute album was released last year Stone age Romeos was the Hoodu's debut album.

Nope they are definatly both, (opps my bad the arlen ness ones look like regulators but the one pictured above from E-bay it is definatly both). Cut the plug off the two wires these are soldered to the two Yellow wires out of the alt. The other wire hanging out of it is the charge line which from memory is red on the 1100 sports please check your wiring diagram before hooking it up thats pretty well it. This is important however the Acel uses the case of the regulator to earth the unit make sure you have a good metal to metal conact case to mounting brackets and the bolts a free of rust and crap. Make sure you cap the charge light line so its doesn't arc out againt anything. Ive had pretty good sucess with them so make up your own mind the best bit on the 1100 sports anyway is the cooling finns actually line up witht he airflow unlike the ducati ones.

I have a VOR 530 set up as a supermotard as my "secound bike". In my opion your secound bike should be completly different to your current bike. If you end up with two bikes that are similar inevatibly you'll prefere one over the other as a result the other will hardly get ridden then whats the piont of having two bikes in the first place. If you are going to the expense of having a secound bike it may as well do stuff that your current bike is ethier unsiutable or just plain incapable.

For me half the enjoyment of owning a Guzzi is nailing someone on superior machinery and watch them try to comprehend whats going on. Will I push it further to make the move, no I ride at a pace I'm comfortable with and let things pan out they way they do. But after 6 years and 80 000kms on the same bike with dialed supension I have a pretty good idea most of the time anyway what it will and won't do so my pace can be a little umm enthusiastic.

Ok off topic that looks like the Album cover of Stone age Romeo's for the Hudoo's fans a compilation/tribute album was recently put together called Stone Age Cameos to celbrate the 20th aniversary of the Stone Age Romeos all Australian artists like Spiderbait, The Wrights, Spazzys, Living End etc etc. Really good too IMO, Umm yeah sorry about your bike.

Really stupid question but are the battery terminals tight? The 1100sports primarly the carb ones with the orrible twin battery setup tend to unwind the earth terminal resulting in a "key banger" everytime you go over a bump. On a fuel injected bike I would imagine this would also reset the ECU etc etc. Check that the main terminal on the starter is still clean and tight, keep in mind this lead is hot usally directly from the battery no fusable link etc etc. Don't touch anything metal with the spanner while fiddling with it or disconnect battery before messing with it. To me it sounds like a primary power problem check the earth where it bolts onto the frame for good measure. All the simply stupid stuff like fuses clean of corrosion kill switch not full of road grime.

I can vouch for the Acel ones fro the HD's make sure you get the 32amp version not the 22 (Guzzi's system is 26 amps) 6 years 80 000kms no problems. You need to do a little soldering and mess with the mounting pionts but they are quarter the price of the deadcat replacment. You also loose the function of the charging light, the only time the thing ever came on was about ten secounds before all the smoke came out anyway.
-
Dunno but I would suggest resourses, one thing to get a guy a bike and possibly a mechanic. For the 200 you need pit crew, prefably that have practised once or twice athough Buell didn't seem to think its neascary at least a secound set of wheels etc etc.

Havn't ridden the six speed versions but took an XB9 for a ride a while ago. At Idles there is a lot of heay vibration as soon as its off idle its ok but it really got to me every time we ended up sitting at the lights. Gearbox is awlful there is no other word for it, worse than a five speed Guzzi, yes and then some. Had reasonble power athough little reluctant to run out not earth shattering. Front end always felt like it wanted to tuck under I think this might be due toe the steering geometry and the wide rear tyre short wheel base. It would be a signifcant improvment if you put a 160 on there wit appropiate rim. Did most things resonbly well athough the local shop takes you on aescorted test ride that I am sure sells HD'd buy the boat load. I'll never understand how they ever get a Ducati out the door (what the other half of the store is dedicated too). Friend of mine brought this bike after it finished its stint as a demo. A really odd clunking niose appear at around 32 000kms the motor was pulled down under warrentee nothing was obiously wrong reassembled sure enough it sounded like the bottom end wanted to get out. Pulled motor down replaced rods niose disappeared. To be honest if you really want an updated Guzzi get one of the new ones or have a serious look at the Ducati 1000 dual spark range. Buell has still go a way to go and if you ever ding the frame its messy and expensive. Stay away from the lighting's thier handling leaves a bit to be desired.
