I'm not a fan of any of those bikes but I have seen some nice CX cafe bikes. Cafe Racer magazine has a tv show here in the USA. A few years ago they featured a CX500 build in one episode. As I was watching it I couldn't see how the builder was going to turn the CX, which was set up as a tourer, into a decent looking cafe bike. I expected a real hack job like a few other bikes that had been on that show. I was wrong. I think the builder, Greg Hageman, did a fantastic job with a crappy bike. IMO it looks real good and probably goes OK too since he removed a bunch of weight. Here's a link to the builder's website: http://docschops.net/

You won't damage your engine by running aftermarket exhaust with your stock ECU. If you open up the intake too it might run a little lean at which point you might want to consider either setting your TPS a little higher or add a PCIII or similar device. There are no "chips" available for the V11 ECU.

I too have a set of Ballabio bars & clamps on my LeMans. I was able to set them up so they don't hit the fairing by repositioning the reservoirs and rotating the bars back just a little. I'm using the stock clutch line but I have a non-stock brake master & lines so I can't say if the stock line would fit. Pics: FWIW the Ballabio risers are 55mm high (without rubber bushing) and they have an 8mm offset. The Ballabio bars are 45mm high with about a 115mm backsweep.

I use a tail bag on the Guzzi factory rack when I need to haul a lot of gear. It's a small rack but it's better than nothing. Stucchi makes a similar rack that's rated for more weight. Both racks come up for sale on ebay and in the classifieds here pretty regularly. My bike loaded: If you're looking for a bag to lay across your seat consider using a dry bag for your sleeping bag and clothing. The ones sold for canoe camping like the red bag in my pics work well but the ones that Helen2wheels sells look like they would be easier to tie down. There are some good tips for packing on her site too. http://www.helen2wheels.com/

Great video Gavo. Those look like perfect roads for a V11. Too bad you couldn't have included some Guzzi audio along with the soundtrack but I suppose there might have been too much wind noise with the helmet mounted camera?

Hi Frank, What Guzz said is true for the Veglia speedo on my '02 Lemans. If you turn the knob clockwise it should unscrew. FYI white faced Veglia gauges were used on V11s up until '02 in the USA. After that they came with black faced ITI gauges.

Congrat's on scoring a beautiful, rare Guzzi Rocker. Enjoy!

Hi Steve, There's a manual that covers the Ohlins equipped models. It's titled V11 Sport Workshop Manual, dated 04/03. It's not as comprehensive as the V11 Sport Workshop Manual that's dated 03/01 but if you have both you will have enough information to work on your Coppa.

Thanks Docc. I was looking for it in the intake section, should have checked the evap system.

Thanks guys. HaydnR, where did you find that part number? It isn't in the parts manual that I have. I like the stock nipples because they have such a tiny hole in the end. If not for it I might have done some damage when one of the hoses for my carb balance too hit a header and melted through a few years ago. I have a pair of drilled out brake bleed nipples that I used for a decarbon procedure but it's tough keeping a hose on them because they are so short. The stock ones are longer. If I can't find a stock part I'll probably go with something from MotionPro or Morgan CarbTune as pasotibbs suggested.

Hi Michael! How's that clutch job going? I noticed that Guzzitech was offering ECU reprogramming a while back but I don't see it on their web page now. I might have be interested in that if they were local but I don't want to be mailing my ECU back & forth to CA, plus as you mentioned it's fairly expensive. Cliff's MyECU gets pretty expensive too when you include the optimizer, lambda sensor, and exhaust modification. The PCIII with either ECU really very good so I'm not very motivated to spend a grand to get it PERFECT. My FBF crossover finally cracked even though I had welded some straps on it when new to prevent that. It was too far gone to fix so like you I'm going to install a Mistral crossover. It's in a UPS truck on it's way to my house right now.

I managed to break one of the brass intake manifold nipples a while back. I installed an M6 screw to plug the hole but eventually I will probably want to balance my throttle bodies again so it would be nice to find a replacement. It doesn't have a part number in the Guzzi parts manual so I can't order one from a dealer. Does anyone have an extra that they'd be willing to part with?

Great stuff Roy! I have the Eastern Beaver headlight relay harness installed so I might be a low charge rate victim. My bike is somewhat disassembled in my basement right now but when I get it back together I'll try and take some voltage measurements.

I have used both the standard and the "Ti Racing" ECU's on my '02 LeMans. The 03 and later bikes had different maps for both ECUs so my experience might not apply to those models. The previous owner of my bike had a custom Power Commander map made with the Ti ECU, and I have run the standard ECU with a custom map too. On my bike the Ti ECU with PC pulls harder than the standard ECU from around 4500rpm on up to redline, but it feels a little softer (less pull and not as good throttle response as stock) below 4k rpm. On the dyno it put out about 2 more peak hp than the standard ECU. Also I think the Ti ECU has the rev limiter set about 500rpm higher than stock. The dyno guy that I used figured that the Ti ECU had a more aggressive timing curve than stock. IMO if you're riding around over 5k rpm a lot (like on a race track) the Ti ECU is the better choice, but for everyday street riding the stock one might be better. I'd love to have a map that combined the best features of both ECUs. It can't be done with the Power Commander because the PC can't control the timing curve. Cliff's ECU or a shop that can tweak both the mixture and timing curves in the stock ECU should be able to accomplish that.

Magni fairings look good on Guzzis IMO. From http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairingshalf.htm

Welcome back Ouiji! I don't know what's up with your bike but it's good to know that you're still out there. I hope things worked out well for you in Hawaii.

"Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Bike
Tom M replied to mznyc's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I agree 100% Guy. I enjoyed reading the trilogy and watching the Swedish movies but I do think they picked a better bike for Lisbeth in the Hollywood version. I believe that she was on an enduro or a supermoto in the Swede films? I don't remember what she rode in the books. -
I agree with Stefano, 2" is too much for the stock shifter and brake pedal adjustment range. A 2" drop in peg height would mean lifting your feet completely off the pegs every time you shift or to use the rear brake. If you really need that much more room you should probably look into getting a taller seat along with the Buell pegs. I'm 6'1" with a sz12 boot and I had the Buell pegs (3/4" drop?) on my bike for a year or two before I got sick of the shifter location so I bought the Motobits kit which I'm very happy with. If you're looking for a big change in the footpeg position you might want to check out the Motratech kit.

Hi Chuck, This info is too late for you but maybe the next guy who's trying to lube their front ujoint will find this. Mcmaster-Carr's web page shows that they still have the adjustable nozzle in stock that worked for me and a few others here. Their part number is 1090K47. http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/117/2167/=f14jmw

Welcome and congrat's on the V11 Rob. See the thread "V11 seat rebuilding service" that's pinned at the top of this forum for a guy who will rework your seat.

I saw this doctored pic on another website. Let's hope the Harley crowd doesn't like it.

If I were you I'd either try a new sensor or attach a mechanical OP gauge to verify that you do in fact have an oil pressure problem before tearing into the oil pump etc.
-
Hi Tommy, Welcome to the forum. I'd start with checking the rubber intake boots for cracks. Also make sure the throttle bodies are seated in them correctly and their clamps are snug. FYI the fuel line on the right side of the tank is the return line for the fuel injection. It doesn't supply gas to the right cylinder.

Nice job juicersr. Are you going to repaint the engine and do something with the exhaust? Ceramic coating the exhaust looks pretty good IMO...

Congratulations on bagging another Ohlins equipped V11 Chuck . If you want to swap those gaudy gold forks from either bike for a pair of the much nicer looking black ones just let let me know...
