  1. http://motori.ilmessaggero.it/speciale_eicma/moto_guzzi_v85_concept_enduro_stile_classico_vintage_rappresenta_futuro_aquile-3349933.html "MILAN - Moto Guzzi brings Eicma 2017 a bike that represents a turning point for the brand. This is a prototype, called V85 Concept, which embodies a new enduro concept of classic and vintage style. Call the bikes of the 1980s and is designed to travel by putting the wheels where the asphalt ends and the adventure begins. At the same time, however, he wants to be an ideal companion even in the daily life, preambulating it agile and versatile. With her debuting a 90 ° 90-turn, 90 ° twin-cylinder five-cylinder, air cooled, capable of delivering an 80 hp power and many torque at low speeds . It is a propulsion around which, according to Moto Guzzi, a new range of motorcycles will be built at Mandello del Lario. This is why the V85 Concept will not be a prototype end to itself, but the anticipation of a motorcycle that we will soon see on the road. It is likely to hypothesize that around this 80-hp engine will be able to develop motorcycles of different segments, all of which are always associated with the style that distinguishes the Moto Guzzi."
  2. I was less than thrilled Chuck. Thankfully I had another one so my bike wasn't incapacitated. I was pretty sure that I hadn't actually fried the ECUs so I knew if I couldn't figure it out I could find help here, over at WG, or as a last resort try to contact Beard.
  3. I had a problem trying to upload a map with IAW 15xWriter V0.26. GuzziDiag and the IAW15xReader program both worked fine with my cables and my laptop (with Windows OS), but the upload program stopped running after loading about 60% of the code. I tried it a number of times on two different ECUs. Neither ECU worked after the incomplete uploads. The fix that I stumbled across was to change the Flow Control setting on my laptops COM port. The default flow control setting on my COM port was "None", I changed it to "Xon / Xoff" , then the upload worked on both ECUs. I don't know if this was some strange anomaly with my laptop and cables, or if this is the way the COM port was supposed to be configured when running the writer program. Whatever it was this is what worked for me. If anyone else here has this issue and wants to try my fix the menu path to COM flow control is: Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) > Communictaions Port (COM x) > Port Settings > Flow Control
  4. That exact same ad is on Boston's CL too. It must be a scam.
  5. Dyno Solutions in New Milford CT did the PCIII mapping on my bike for the previous owner. I don't know if John T still owns and runs the place but he was a V11 owner and member here back in the early 2000's.
  6. With your exhaust and intake mods you'll need a richer map. I don't know if you have access to a BIN file that's compatible with your mods, but since you already have a PCIII your easiest route might be to load the GH67 map to your PCIII from here, assuming that you have a stock ECU: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1020 There are also lots of DynoJet centers out there that will create a custom map for your bike with the PCIII. I don't know where you could go to have a custom BIN file created for your bike with your mods.
  7. Once you get your V11 running issues sorted out I'd be interested in hearing how you like it compared to your XR1200.

    Diagnostic Cables

The ebay cable set that I linked above showed up four days after I ordered it. I opened up the OBD2 to USB cable and as advertised it has the correct FTDi chip inside. I hooked it up and it works perfectly. Both cables for $20 is a good deal too. ECS Tuning sent me an RMA so that cable is going back. If anyone needs an OBD2 to 3 pin cable shoot me a PM.

    Diagnostic Cables

ECS tuning hasn't responded to my email yet so I looked at Amazon and ebay and found a cable set (both cables) that's meant to work with GuzziDiag and allegedly has the correct FTDI chip in the OBD2 cable. $20 shipped for both cables is a bargain compared to the ECS cable too. I didn't go with the Lonelec cable because I've waited a LONG time for another product that was shipped to me from England via Royal Mail. Here's the ebay cable set that I ordered: http://www.ebay.com/itm/232077625545?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The first thing that I'm going to do when they arrive is open the OBD2 cable to verify the chip. Here's a pic of the ECS cable opened up with the wrong chip circled. That chip should have FTDi stamped on it. I would advise anyone buying one of these cables to verify the chip in the cable before doing anything else so you don't waste a bunch of time like I did.
  10. That's a Motobits kit and it's known weakness is that it puts too much torque on the stock shifter arm. I replaced mine after I had maybe 12k miles on it and the shifter arm was starting to crack. Last winter I had the cracks on the old part welded and had some plates welded to the sides of it too. It's installed now and I don't expect that it will ever be a problem again. I think I paid about $30 for that part a few years ago? Here's a pic of my beefed up part next to the stock one.

    Diagnostic Cables

I just got around to trying the USB/OBDII cable that I got from ECS Tuning back in April. I wish I saw the post from Jazzamoto above before I ordered it. After a few fruitless hours of reading about Guzzidiag and fighting with drivers I opened up the cable and found that it DID NOT have the FTDi FT232RL chipset that's required by Guzzidiag. I emailed their customer service to see if I can exchange it for the right one or get a refund. I'll report back if they can in fact deliver the correct cable. In the meantime I think Jazzamoto's suggestion to buy this cable only from Lonelec is a good one.
  12. My '02 has dual angle drives too.
  13. MG Cycle sells a Mistral crossover and a few different mufflers for that bike. http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_95&products_id=3133 http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_105&products_id=1797
  14. Back when these bikes were new someone on this forum had a brilliant idea, swap the too strong high idle spring with the too weak seat release spring. It works great.
  15. Those are good questions. Interesting the "KR vs KS" frame. My early Sport is KR (4th and 5th VIN characters). Camn, are you saying Moto Guzzi changed to "KS" when the "LongFrame" was introduced with the additionally braced front subframe and lower rear subframe that connects forward to the bottom of the engine case? FWIW my long frame 2002 LeMans has a "KR" VIN. Maybe a KS frame doesn't have fuel pump mounting tabs?
  16. Those dyno runs were done with a titanium ECU and custom Power Commander map. I've since gone back to the stock ECU and a different PC map. I also replaced the modified airbox lid with a stock one. I got sick of the intake noise . I recently bought the cables that are needed to use Guzzidiag. I'm going to try disconnecting the PCIII and loading a new map sometime soon. If you have a map that you're really happy with Ernst I'd love to give it a try if you want to share it. Thanks, Tom
  17. I can't speak to what Ernst posted, but on the pre-2004 north American V11s the torque and power dip around 4500rpm seems to be caused by the stock exhaust crossover which doesn't have a catalytic converter like some of the later euro V11s did. If you look at my post on page 9 in the dyno thread the first chart shows my bike with an FBF crossover. The second chart shows my bike with the stock crossover. Look at the difference between 4k and 5k rpm. The power dip went away. The only real change was the crossover. Others here have seen or felt similar results by switching to any of the aftermarket crossovers. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8556&page=9
  18. 1157 bulbs are asymmetrical. So you'd have to try pretty hard to reverse them. Not saying it can't be done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The V11 tail light receptacle is pretty weak. I've seen the bulb reversed several times. It isn't that hard and both filaments will light. I put that bulb in backwards and it wasn't hard at all! This is the first thing (and the easiest thing) that you should check.
  19. Q told me not to touch the red button...
  20. I had some bushings made that allowed me to attach folding footpegs to my Motobits setup. Details are in this thread in case you're interested: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14974&page=2&hl=motobits&do=findComment&comment=204997
  21. I know it's not really a V11 rival because it's so much newer, but have any of you ridden one of the new Thruxton 1200s yet? I'm wondering how it's motor and handling compare to a well sorted V11.
  22. They look like earlier valve covers, like the ones on my 850. But there is a good chance they are custom. There are adapter plates that allow you to install old round head rocker covers onto your v11 square heads. MG cycle has them. Other vendors probably do too. http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2455
  23. I don't know if this will help but you might want to remove and clean the vent. If it's completely blocked any pressure that builds up in there could push lube past the seal.
  24. Congrat's on the new Greenie Scud! I'm interested in hearing how you like the shorter red frame compared to your newer models once you get it sorted. A couple suggestions: - Flip the ECU over so the connector is facing down. My bike came with the connector facing up like yours and I had an ECU failure due to the seat flexing enough to hit the ECU connector which eventually cracked an etch on the ECU PC board. - Replace those cracked intake boots ASAP. It will never run right if those are leaky.
  25. I did use seals Doc. They're laying on the bench to the left of the rod in the picture above, and they're shown in the drawing in the first post. I think delrin bushings would be a little like using solid aluminum. It could work but the hole in the middle will probably wear into an oval and get sloppy over time.
