We know you want a Harley Ben. Go get a 1/2 price adventure Harley at your local Buell dealer before they're all gone.

The roll pin is a great idea. Unfortunately the springs don't always break at the tang. My Cannon Racecraft spring broke in the middle of a coil. I could be wrong but I don't recall seeing many broken pawl spring complaints from the red frame owners. If I'm not mistaken the early V11 trannys had an adjustable eccentric stop for the pawl instead of the roll pin in the casting like the later bikes. Could the roll pin be the cause of our pawl spring problems? If the "improved" Guzzi spring that I installed breaks I'm going to take a close look at that when I have the shifter cover off

If I had the room for another bike I'd take a very hard look at a deal like this. "Harley-Davidson is paying dealers a $5,000 per-bike incentive for each new Buell they sell, irrespective of model. Until now, this incentive was top secret, with dealers and Harley employees under strict orders not to reveal it to the public or media." Could be BS? http://hellforleathermagazine.com/20...-for.html#more

Harley-Davidson black texture paint. Many of us here who had the blistering engine paint have used the Harley paint with very good results. No primer is needed. I did my engine 3 years/15k miles ago and it's holding up great. Here's a link to one of the many threads about this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry110415

What a shame. I can't really blame Harley for doing it given their troubles. They're dumping MV Augusta too. I'd love to see Buell continue in some form. It seems like this would be a perfect opportunity for Polaris to add a sport bike line to complement their Victory cruisers. edit: KB, Here's an article that answers your "why now?" question: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/uptospeed/...uell-brand.html

So Piaggio has Galuzzi and Terblanche on board? That's cool. I hope this means there will be new sporty Guzzis in the coming years that don't look like BMW knock-offs.

Beaten senseless by the ugly stick

What do you mean "again"? What did I say that sounds crazy to you Antonio? Don't you like that CB1100F? How's that sporty Breva treating you? Do you like it better than the LeMans? Is your V11 gone now? -

I'm going to reserve judgement on the looks until I've actually seen the bike. I bet it will be a great bike though. I thought the Buell 1125 was butt ugly until I saw one in a parking lot. I found it much better looking in person. That said, most of the new bikes with triangular headlights and exhausts do nothing for me. I'm not much of an in-line four fan but here's a modified version of a new Honda that I really like: -
Thanks Andy. I know there's more than one version of VDST and someone else said they couldn't adjust idle trim with theirs. Are you using the "standard" version that's good for one model only and sells for around $200?
-
Are you guys adjusting CO with VDST software or do you have an Axeone?
-
Bob, Does the VDST software allow you to see and set the idle trim on your V11?

I believe some of the european members here have had their stock ECU remapped by a tuner on your side of the pond. I don't remember what country or what shop it was, but maybe someone who's had it done will chime in. edit: Forum sponsor TLM may be able to remap your ECU. Give them a call if nobody here speaks up.

BelfastGuzzi and Keith Baldini have both posted pics showing how those big gear things should look once they are installed. After you install them put the shifter arm on the shift shaft and shift it up and down through the gears. If you can hit all 6 gears you probably have it right. Shift it down to 1st gear then go up one into neutral. Now the shifter plate is ready to go back on. The selector forks in the transmission need to be positioned in the center of their travel to be in neutral. It took me a while to figure this out the first time I did the repair. Here's a link to a thread with a pic that should help your reassembly. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=shifter

In reverse order... There is no gasket and you don't have to use a sealer although some have used hylomar(?) or Yamabond with good results. I've done mine twice now with no sealer whatsoever just like the factory did and haven't had any leaks. the second spring that broke on me was from Cannon Racecraft. I replaced it with the updated Guzzi spring. From memory I got around 15k miles out of the factory spring and about half that out of the Cannon spring. I have around 5k on the improved spring so far...

It looks like it falls in the effected ZGUKRAKR8YM111929 - ZGUKRAKR11M114435 recall range. The actual recall notice is in the fileshare section of this site.

I had the same problem the first time I did mine. Here's what I did; There's a place along the bottom of the transmission where the shifter plate doesn't quite match the profile of the transmission. It's like a tab that sticks out a bit. If you feel along the seam between the plate and the transmission you will find it. I put a ~1' long 1" wooden dowel against that tab from the other side of the bike, gave it a light tap with a plastic hammer, and the shifter plate popped right off.

Looks good What bar did you go with? PS cute kid!

I have an FBF crossover too and I've swapped out the pawl spring twice now without removing it. I did need to cut down an allen key to get at that one bolt. I cut it with a cut-off wheel mounted in a dremel tool. BFG and KB have both posted lots of good pics in the past that I found extremely helpful when I did mine. Good luck!

I bet you're too lean if your at 480mV at idle. Bump it up to 525mV at 1100rpm idle and see how it runs. See this thread for an easier and possibly better method on TPS adjustment: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...88&hl=Micha

I recently replaced a set of Road Attacks. I liked them but they wore out much faster than any of the other sport touring type tires that I've used on the V11. The shop owner who I buy tires from said he's heard that complaint a lot about those tires.

Very sorry for the loss of your friend Pete. Godspeed Mr Myers and my condolences to his family and friends.

You are correct on the right side throttle stop Henri. You want to use only the left side stop screw to adjust idle. Keep the right side out of contact with the throttle linkage, or remove it entirely. I haven't seen any mention of 6th gear whine here before your post so I don't think it's a common problem. If it were my bike I'd look into it right away though because something isn't right there.

In addition to mdudes suggestions I will add sliding the forks up through the triple clamps about 10mm or so helps cornering. Worn tires, especially a squared off rear, can hinder cornering ability quite a bit. A lot of us here with 02+ bikes have replaced the stock 180/55 rear tire with a 170/50 for a little better cornering too.

Downshift? I try to keep the revs above 3K.
