  1. In the US all of the red & gray LeMans had external fuel pumps.
  2. Got any suggestions? Is the headlight on your SV any better or worse than your LeMans headlight? The Griso and the V7 Classic both look like they have fluted reflectors like the LeMans. I wonder if they're the same part? Hey Griso owners, how do you like those headlights?
  3. I believe those 2 nipples are for the tank vent hose and the tank overflow hose. Someone probably removed them when they were removing the charcoal canister. Whoever removed that stuff from my bike ran those hoses from the tank down the frame and down to the back of the engine. Be aware that without those hoses or the tank vent check valve you could have a fuel spill if your bike goes down. We had a member here lose his bike to the resulting fire a few years back.
  4. He has a man-purse slung over his shoulder. How cool is that?
  5. I added a dedicated power feed with relays to my LeMans headlight a few years ago and both lights are definitely brighter than before. The high beam is great, no complaints there, but I still can't see very well with the low beam. The beam pattern seems wide and shallow, and it doesn't really throw enough light down the road, at least for my eyes. If I adjust the headlight light up much more the high beam will be too high. I'm running the standard 60/55w bulb now, don't know if a hotter bulb will help. I think the non-LeMans V11s use a different headlight so you Sport/Ballabio/Cafe owners might not have this problem. Any suggestions on improving the LeMans low beam besides just riding around with high beam on all the time? Are any of you running hotter bulbs with good results? Is it just me with this problem? I know younger eyes would probably help, but they're out of my price range.
  6. FWIW Lots of people have come to this site asking how to raise the bars and lower the pegs on a V11 Sport or LeMans before they even sit on one, much less own one. The standard response here is to suggest that they ride the bike as is for a while before changing anything. Many if not most of those folks come back here a month or two later to thank us for the advice because they discovered that the stock riding position is surprisingly comfortable. You really should ride one for a little while before you decide that you must have lower pegs and/or higher bars. ...unless your knees hit the rocker covers If you want standard handlebars and a flyscreen without the Ohlins suspension you want a Ballabio. See all the V11 models here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5691

    Stable Mate

Welcome phordman and congrat's on your new V11. Once you get a few miles on her please let us know how much you like it (or not) compared to your Norge.
  8. Did you try the starter with the bike in neutral and the sidestand up? Is your starter fuse OK? If so did you get a click when you pushed the starter button? If you did it could be a sticky solenoid, a weak battery, or a bad connection between the battery and the starter. If not the most common cause that I've seen here is a bad connection where either the sidestand or clutch safety switches plug into the wiring harness. Another common problem is flaky stock relays. Lots of folks here swap out the stock relays for better quality aftermarket ones from one of the vendors below. http://www.dpguzzi.com/relay.htm http://www.motratech.com/MGR-C20.html
  9. Is your Griso still under warranty? Let the dealer fix it when he's done with your heads. I had this happen on my V11. I eventually popped the starter fuse. No problems since I replaced the fuse. Doesn't make sense to me either Anyway, assuming the battery and starter connections are clean and tight, and the battery is good, I was told a sticky solenoid will cause this. If Griso uses the same starter as the V11 the solenoid can be replaced without replacing the whole starter. Here's a link to a US source: http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/ProductDe...Code=VAL%2DSOL3 I've seen posts about disassembling and cleaning the solenoid here too.
  10. Hubert, Top Gear co-host James May is the Guzzi owner, not Clarkson. I think he has an older Cali. Clarkson is first and foremost an entertainer. His two co-hosts are riders so he gets to generate some yuks being the anti-biker. I think he's pretty good at it. I saw the Top Gear episode where the boys allegedly rode scooters and mopeds across Viet Nam. Clarkson crashed hard, and I'm not even sure he had a helmet on. That ought to give him more reason hate two wheelers, even though it was his own bad riding (hit a pot hole?) and lack of gear that caused his grief. Maybe a faster bike or more importantly a better rider would have helped the bike do a little better against the Atom, but I have no trouble believing that car could smoke any bike on a track without really long straightaways. The Atom looks like a fantastic track car, but it could never be road legal in the US. No airbags, no side impact protection, etc.
  11. It looks like you've already removed the acorn nut and lock nut on the adjuster. It's the shaft with the slotted end next to the shifter shaft. If you moved the slotted shaft you'll have to adjust it when you get the bike back together. You can search past threads on this to find out what the adjuster does and how to set it. I remember forum member Ouiji Veck posting about his adventures with the adjuster. Search his name and "adjuster" and see if anything helpful turns up. The shifter plate will come off once you've removed all of the M6 screws around the perimeter of the casting. Mine was pretty stubborn the first time I removed it. I found a spot toward the bottom rear of the trans where the shifter plate doesn't exactly match the shape of trans housing. It provided a surface that was large enough to catch with a wooden dowel from the other side of the bike. I put the dowel on there, gave it a tap with a hammer and the plate popped free.
  12. Welcome back! Glad to hear that you're all healed up and the Scura's back on the road & track. Be careful and have fun.
  13. I seriously doubt it needs new injectors. At most they might need to be cleaned. If you don't do your own wrenching I'd suggest that you take it to another shop for a second opinion. If you don't mind doing some work yourself the members here can probably help you troubleshoot your bike. Is stalling after idling for a minute or so your only symptom, or does it act up or die when riding?

    Helmet problem

I do wear earplugs! Well, I do whenever I ride on the highway anyway. Not so much for short trips around town. I can hear the whistling through the earplugs. Thanks for the link Stockport. It looks like I can buy helmet parts including the gasket from that site too. http://www.shoei-helmets.com/store/index.php?cPath=36_33

    Helmet problem

My Shoei RF1000 has developed some whistling sounds at highway speed with the face shield down. I can make it go away if I press on the upper part of the shield so I'm pretty sure there's a little gap there. So...how do I fix this? Should I replace the rubber gasket? Is there some adjustment that I'm not aware of? I did drop the helmet off the seat last Fall and it landed in the dirt on the edge of the open shield. Do you think a new shield could fix it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  16. Spiegler will make custom lines for a reasonable price. I got a new brake line from them when I put Billabio bars on my LeMans. http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/customline.cfm Here's an vendor that does custom Galfer lines: http://www.hardracing.com/Brakes/GalferLines.htm
  17. That obviously depends on who's doing the considerin'. Do you need help making up your mind? Since you included a pic of a red/gray LeMans, is it that color combo that you're questioning?
  18. You want their Texture Black, not the Crinkle Black. Harley part # is 98606BF.
  19. I don't know who makes these slip-ons but they seem popular with the Italian vintage Guzzi racers. I assume they'd make more power than the stock restrictive cans, and I think they'd look great on a V11, but would probably be too loud on the street without the DB killer inserts. The pic is from here: http://www.animaguzzista.com/page_builder....acorta_2008.htm Maybe there's an Anima forum member here who could find out who makes those mufflers? Antonio? A number of those race bikes like the one above have what appears to be a plastic or fiberglass Guzzi tank with fuel view strip like the old Ducati's had. Very cool!

    Top Chop

It doesn't look right to me but that shouldn't mean a thing if it works for you.
  21. Brent, It's probably too late for this but...you might want to check the transmission recall notice in the fileshare section of this site to see if your bike was included. If it was at least you'll know why your tranny broke.
  22. IMO yes you should drop the motor if you want it perfect, but don't bother if you just want it to look good from a couple feet away. I'm real happy with the way mine turned out, and I'm glad I didn't go through the hassle of dropping the motor. Nobody has mentioned the remaining bubbly paint since I repainted it. Prior to that nearly everyone who gave the bike a good look asked what was wrong with the engine paint. That said, it can wait until winter! No need to miss any riding time because of cruddy engine paint.
  23. BIG improvement there Steve. I think it was well worth your time. I had trouble getting any texture with the Harley paint until someone told me that you have to spray it from at least a foot away. Once I did that mine matched the texture on the transmission very well. That paint tip (thanks Jason) and a couple pics of my results are here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...t=0#entry110415 Foto, if you give it a shot try and get as much of the old paint off as possible. I got most of it off with wire brushes and scrapers, but I can still see where I went over the old stuff with the Harley paint in some spots. It doesn't cover flaws as well as I expected.
  24. The outside diameter of the stock Guzzi bars is 22mm which is about .01" smaller than 7/8". As for what bar ends will fit, it depends on how they attach. The stock bar ends on my '02 screw into the end of the bars that are tapped to I think an M18x1 thread.
  25. My '02 has a large bolt and a small bolt (M6). PS thanks for posting your Ti can repair over in the how-to section Hal. Unfortunately I had to use it yesterday, but I'm happy with the results.
