  1. Congrat's on the new bike! Glad to hear that you loved your first ride on a V11. I'm sure that's true for most of us here While the Guzzi will never turn like your VFR, it's turn-in can be improved with the right tires, right suspension setup, and finally dropping the forks through the triple clamps a bit if everything else is in order and you still want to quicken the steering a little more. Check to see if the rear tire is squared off, and also check its size. Stock width on your bike should be 170. Lots of folks find that going one size narrower than stock helps turn-in a lot. Lots of speedo failures reported here are due to problems with the angle drive at the transmission. I haven't had that problem (yet) so I can't help much, but I'm sure a search will turn up lots of info.
  2. The manual says 40 - 42 Nm.

The helmet is on the Italian Guzzi site now. http://www.motoguzzi.it/it_IT/lifestyle/ab...ico.aspx#Caschi It looks like an AGV Airtech. http://www.agv.it/prodotto.asp?Id_Prodotto...;Id_Grafica=239
  4. I do have a radial MC for the front brake, that's why I didn't have the clearance issue on that side. I had to pry the bar clamp open quite a bit too. I didn't expect the .010 or so (1/4mm) diameter difference to be an issue but it was very tight. Time for plan B...
  5. Just say NO to apehangers Ben!
  6. How about mine? I just finished installing one side and IMO these are not sturdy enough for use with clipons. The riser between the stub and the bar cradle is only 3\8" thick. I could flex it easily by pushing down on the bar end. I'd be very afraid of it fatigueing and breaking over time. Maybe it wouldn't but I'm not willing to bet my life on it. If they were sturdier I'd definitely use them. Other than that the parts are very well made. If anyone is interested in buying these for a bike with conventional handlebars I'd be willing to sell them for a lot less that what I paid. I'm sure they'd work great. PM me if interested. Here's a couple pictures for anyone who's interested; Here's the Twisted Throttle picture the ones that I have;
  7. Nice bag but why would they block the map window with that gray stripe? Not an issue if you never use the map window I guess...
  8. Did you see the pictures on the convertibar website here?
  9. That's great! Do you know if Gyles bought an MGS to race or is a sponsor supplying the bike? Go Gyles!
  10. No complaints here Jim. I just googled "motorcycle manometer" and saw a few different designs that were all pretty similar. Now I can put the money I might have spent on a Morgan Carbtune towards some handlebar risers. I want to give some higher bars a try this Spring
  11. You might want to try ATF instead of water RH. I thought it was very easy to read and it didn't move too quickly. If it did move quicker I probably would have sucked some into a cylinder when one of my hoses melted through after hitting the hot header
  12. FWIW I built a manometer for under $5.00. 2 bucks for tubing and 2 bucks for a yard stick. A little scrap lumber, a few zip ties, some ATF I had laying around...done. It worked great until one of the tubes swung loose and hit the hot header. I shut the bike down as soon as I saw all the fluid heading for one cylinder. I trimmed the tubes to even lengths again and finished my adjustments. I can't comment on how well it runs yet as it's pouring out, but I'll probably be back looking for help if it's not OK. Thanks to all of you guys who posted info on how to do the valve adjustment, tps setting and t-body sync.
  13. Do you have a car or truck that can pull a trailer? If so get your bike ready, rent a trailer from uhaul and trailer it there. That has to be easier than finding a bike to rent at this late date. I wonder if a V11 would fit in a mini van rental with the seats removed?
  14. Lots of flaky electrical problems reported here turn out to be relay related. The first thing that I'd do is replace the fuel pump relay, making sure there's no corrosion and the terminals are tight. Dan is the man for relays. http://www.dpguzzi.com/relay.htm

In case you don't know Antonio those are pickup truck tool boxes. It's a joke!
  16. The crossover made a big difference in sound on my bike. Ti cans with the stock crossover was very civil below 4500 or so rpm. It got a lot less civil when I added the FBF crossover. I think it still sounds great but non biker neighbors may not agree.

...and more easily repaired. Severely dent or crack the rear rim on your V11 and you'll have to replace the whole wheel. Do the same on the Stelvio or Quota and you just need to lace up a new rim. Has anyone seen the factory side cases for the Stelvio yet? You know you can't have a manly Paris-Dakar adventure bike without gnarly side cases. Speaking of which...could one of you blokes tell "long way" Ewan I've found the perfect Quota for his next adventure?
  18. Their website is a little messed up. $10.95 is for the replacement hose, not the sync tool. Sorry
  19. Sort of OT but if anyone is looking for cheap carb sticks this looks like a deal: motion pro At $10.95 this is probably less money that I could build a home made set for, but it does use mercury.
  20. I liked these, although they both need a little more work in the headlight and muffler areas IMO...
  21. BTW, those gold forks are going to clash. I'll trade you a nice pair of black ones for them
  22. See the bottom of page 2 Frank. It's an adjustable tip that will go to 45 degrees and beyond and you don't have to grind it to get to the front zerk. I tried a 45 deg end from Autozone, it didn't work on that particular zerk.

    Guareschi

Does anyone know if Gianfranco Guareschi is racing the MGS-01 at Daytona again this year???

Someone get Guareschi on the phone! He needs to know this! (photo from http://guzzitech.com/PHPBB2/viewtopic.php?t=110)
  25. Another happy camper...
