Excellent slideshow! Ken

I'm not sure and there was no spec offered, but I guess they're about 12 oz. (340g). They are 32mm dia. at the grip tapering down to 30mm dia. x 38mm long. They are similar in appearance to the original "Salamander" bar end weights, until you get close enough to see the lock. The one that Greg has pictured above looks to be heavier. Many of these bar ends have a fairly long stem inside the bar, so you may have to drill your left side bar deeper. My bike has the Verlicchi "swan neck" bar kit, so the bars are like regular steel tubular handlebars. I'm not sure about the earlier V11's, but the original clip-ons from my bike are 16mm I.D. The "BarEnders" can be purchased to fit 5/8" I.D. which translates to 15.875mm. Close enough! I'm not sure about "Salamanders" or any other brand. Ken

I'm running BarEnder helmet locks. You get some function along with the extra weight. Aerostitch sells them. They made a significant difference. Although there are still some vibes lurking in there, it's not annoying. I don't get any numbness unless I'm on a long, cold ride. My circulation isn't quite what it was 30 years ago; especially so since my fingers have approached the frostbite threshold on a couple of occasions. Ken

It's the whole "bike boutique" thing. H-D, Ducati, BMW, and now Vespa. Guzzi is a prime candidate if the masses ever start to notice them. Ken

Ride Report: Seattle to Hyder, AK by V11, Part I

Great report! Thanks for sharing. Ken -
I bought one at Teo Lamers, but it wasn't cheap. This is from my receipt: 017615600000 MP 38 KILOMETERTELLER V11 COPPA ITALIA € 143,74 (euros). Since then, the price has increased to € 153,72 . Caution: The p/n above is for a metric unit. I can't find the listing for an imperial unit, but I'm sure they can provide one. If you view their webshop catalog, the prices shown include the domestic VAT (value added tax), but when they export, they don't have to charge this. When you click on the individual items, you will see the price with and without VAT, which is almost a whoppin' 20%. The unit I purchased did not include the crappy odometer reset knob or the rubber gasket that surrounds it, so I had to transfer these items from my old one. Ken

Very true! I always try to follow along. The route is often circuitous, but the destination is eventually reached. The information contained therein is invaluable. Ken

Yes it is..........rocker59 has has contributed to our entertainment with many fine ride reports. Check out this one and picture yourself savoring grand vistas and slicing through vast landscapes aboard this fine machine. It would be a wonderful thing if a new dance partner could be found on this very forum! Ken

Speaking of Great Dutch Bands, how about Golden Earring, in their 5th decade and still touring with the same line-up. I have my original vinyl copy of "Moontan" and it's a fixture in many record collections. Ken -

OK, I missed the boat on that one. As Gregg says, SW-Motech does offer the correct tank ring. Twisted Throttle sells it here. Ken

Here is another option. I saw this in Cycle Canada magazine yesterday. Gears Canada Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look at the "Genesis". The mounting pad has suction cups for plastic tanks and a gas filler access hole. The bag detaches quickly. Unfortunately it won't be available until December. I have a set of saddlebags from this outfit. They were inexpensive and the quality was good. Ken

That is so hot! The "Hooters" thread has some competition. Ken

That's a great looking Greenie. What is the fairing? Ken

Football season is here - You know what that mean?

Done! Ken -
This is what I've been using for the last year and I'm very pleased with it. LuggageLocker The bike in the attached photo is not mine. Mine has the newer style tank without the raised "chinpad" or whatever the hell it's called. Because the filler ring of a V11 is slightly more recessed then other bikes, I had to slightly shim the mounting ring, so the bag wouldn't rub the tank, yet still allow the filler cap to swing open. It all works fine. The LeMans in the photo has the earlier style tank with the "chinpad". I'm guessing the mounting ring would have to be shimmed even more on these bikes. The optional Lexel material of the bag has a very nice feel. The bag is locked to the bike or you can unlock it and carry it away in about 10 seconds. If I was starting again, I would seriously consider SW-Motech. They "borrowed" the Luggage Locker design and improved upon it. They don't list a V11 application, but I'm sure it could be sorted out. Bingo! I discovered the same thing, the first time I attempted troubleshooting by relay swapping. I then picked up a couple of the appropriate p/n H-D relays and I was no further ahead. I forget who makes them, but they are also one-directional (diode protected). I finally wised up and bought 6 (one spare) of the GEI relays. They are bi-directional, 5 pin (work in every socket), have the highest amp rating of any relay of this size. You can use them to troubleshoot many Guzzis, Ducatis, some H-Ds, and Lord knows what else. You can remove the 5th pin and run them in a 4 pin socket, on bikes that are so equipped. Since I installed them a year ago, I have never had an electrical problem. Previously, I had an intermittent start circuit gremlin that I couldn't pinpoint. I'm not sure if the GEI relays solved the problem all on their own, or if it was my other electrical maintenance that did it, but I don't care. They are cheap and do their job well! Ken

Welcome Klaus, I won't be in Valkenburg, but keep up the fun with that nice looking LeMans! Ken
