Enzo, On this site there are a few posted http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8556

Where I live in San Fernando Valley, we had the highest recorded temp ever last week, 119, it had been over 110 for days, over 100 for about three weeks. The plastic newspaper stands were melting around the city... Over 120 folks died from the heat in a three week period in California.

Next time I have my tank off, I'll post a pic of my modded air box, still has the snorkels as they reach down in cooler air, I have a combo of raised flaps to catch the air as well as open holes. I could not tell any difference from the stock airbox in intak. I do have a FBF x-over and mistrals, but no difference in sound, just performance Jon

I have the same dash setup on my SS, busted on a trip, this is how I completed the trip....

Still the best torque curve I've seen on one of these.... Mods that move the torque curve up could kludge the power down low, sure looks sweet where it's at. Breaking 90 should be easy with a bit o fiddlin

I would sure do the X-over and the PCIII, get a used serial port PCIII, see em pretty cheap.

When I do any significant riding in the rain, I'll get gobs of the light tan sludge accumulating under the valve covers, not an issue, scrape the crap off and move on. If you ride much in the rain, or wash the sucker every day, you'll get it.

Thats a particularly nice looking power spread

Don, My take on your less than expected horsepower was due to one or two factors, first, it was 107 degrees when your bike was dynoed, this cuts horsepower. Second, your newly jethotted bubs are smaller and may be a bit clogged up decreasing ultimate horsepower. I dont think there is that much difference in H-pipes, but you never know. If you want, I have an identical pair of bubs that are not jet hotted as well as a full NOS BUB system with the reverse black cones, we could head to Louies and do a number of runs with different pipes etc to extract the most. It would be an interesting documentary...

First, I want to thank the folks on the board for providing such good info on fork springs, I have em on order and will get them next week. Can any of you suggest what rate of rear spring would be a good starting point for an 02 Lemans with a 225 husky lad riding? Again, your input is truly appreciated. Jon

Need source for straight wound fork springs

Thanks for the info gents, I'm on it Jon -
Todd Egan speaks highly of some dyno dude in Costa Mesa, a bit closer than Louies

Hi all, I'm trying to locate a provider and part number for some straight wound fork springs for my 02 Lemans. I've been considering the progressive Wilbers, but I'm a husky lad and these are likely a bit light for me. Any of you have success with finding good springs for a 225 lb rider? If so, I would certainly appreciate your input. Cheers, Jon

While some folks seem really satisfied with downloaded maps, as I was before I had a custom map. I can tell you than in my opinion, a custom map done by someone who knows guzzi's is the single best improvement you can do to your bike. On two of my guzzi's, I had downloaded maps, and I thought they were great, until I had a custom map made. The smoothness, driveability and all around good running are addicting. Guzzi's have enough variation in them that the best map for your bike is a map for your bike. Cheers, Jon

Don, I machined a number of openings in my Lemans stock airbox, and the intake is not noticably louder. I suspect Louie was referring to highly developed Japanese with ram air etc. On both of my guzzi's one with the FBF bracket and the other I machined, I obtained positive results. Jon

Did the stock ECU map change between the 01 shortframe and the 02'

Robbie, I'd drop Todd a line, but I suspect that a proper dynolinking will resolve all your issues. Just had my 02 Lemans done by Louie, runs perfect now, used to die and have real problems at lower RPM Jon -
When in doubt that your response is taken as humor, post a pic of a topless tart, no one will mind your post and we'll all see the brevity

Dr. Gil, Email Louie, he does drag his dyno up that way, perhaps you can get a few folks together and he'll make a trip for you guys Jon

When we were getting Dyno linked this past weekend, Louie, owner of L&L motosports mentioned he has a bit of free time coming up, and wanted to see if there was any interest in a Guzzi dyno day at his Littlerock, CA HQ. I will probably get my SS with the NOS bubs done, and Don has plans for his EV, any of you folks interested? If so, post or PM me so we can start establishing a date. Louie is quite capable on the guzzi's and has a great setup, a guzzi day would be great, his pricing for these events is very good as well. Thanks, Jon Louies info: http://www.landlmotorsports.com/

As others have noted, its a feature, not a problem

My back side dyno confirmed the improvement, smoother acceleration and a bit more pull on top. Louie found the existing map to be fairly far off in the lower ranges and had to add fuel in a number of positions. The FBF crossover likely contributed to a slight dip in torque around 4500rpm, but it's not noticable when riding, just something to work on next time.
-
Did the dyno deed this morning, it was 107 degrees F, and we were at 2100 ft elevation, still pulled a bit over 84 hp and 65 ft/lbs of torque after mapping. runs great, on the way back came to a long mountain straight and pulled a bit over 135 on the speedo with more available
-
Did I mention its hot? 113 right now, AC is dead, pool is so warm it does not cool you off.... beer is my only friend..... However, my Lemans warms up really fast when its 110+
-
Thanks for the input gents, I did have Don doing some recon for me. For what its worth, I warmed the bad boy up well, then pulled the rod and backed off the right side idle set screw to get the min. I inserted pins in the connector on the TB and took measurements off my fluke VOM. I will not likely be switching maps, Louie at L&L Motosports is a well known expert at dyno linking guzzis, all the so cal'ers use his service. My only concern is that he is 2100 ft altitude and it will be fairly warm. I opened up my air box and while riding in the 113 heat, I did notice that my Lemans wheelies fairly easy now, but the throttle response is not what I need. The bikes I've had Louie do are the best running Guzzi's in the land, so I look forward to tomorrows festivities. I'll post the map if anyone wants it, simply FBF crossover, Misral pipes, open airbox.,.. Cheers, Jon
