I am embarassed to admit how much time I've spent online trying come up with something. I suspect the photo came from a book or magazine and not from an online source. Lately I've been trying to find a match to the fork sliders or brake/hub without any success either. Lots of cool 50cc race stuff out there. Just wish I wasn't such a big guy...........

Guess we'll have to give Jaap a Stumper Sticker if we don't figure it out.

Any other thoughts on the "colorful clue" hint? The front brake looks pretty basic, maybe self-modified? As in drilled for venting. Certainly not something you'd find on a world class racer? I'm assuming the red fork sliders are the colorful clue but I haven't seen anything like that now in several days of looking. Tire and wheel size seems typical of a 50cc machine. Most 50cc classic race bikes seem to have fenders but not all. 1970 Yamonda 50cc Supertweet.

Typical coast of Maine weather.............. Umpteen bazillion degrees freezing for almost a month, starts snowing (about 8" worth), temp shoots up to 42deg f. and pours rain for about an hour. Temp immediately drops back down to about 10 deg f. leaving 4" of crappy ice on top of everything. No relief from subfreezing temps in sight. I won't see the surface of my driveway until sometime in March.......... If I am lucky. Cabin fever can't be far off.....................

Hi Doug, Dennis here, up in Maine. Lets hope we can get back on the road by April! I knew we would be paying for all the warm days in early winter. Maybe we can put together an unofficial meet somewhere in southern Maine or NH early this season. I'm about 2-1/2 hours from Portsmouth. It would be fun to see how many Guzzi we could gather. Why don't you sign up to the MEME board and see what we've got going. If nothing else I'll be coming down to the Lars Anderson meet in the fall. Hope to meet up along the way. Dennis

Much worse for those who have built their lives around flying and are forced to give it up. For me, the reality was not so hard to take. I had already fulfilled my desire to learn to fly and soon found climbing in a Cessna 150 and flitting about around the old pea patch pretty boring. The only thing that made flying interesting was doing things generally frowned upon by most folks. By that time I was too old for the military and didn't have enough money to fly anything more interesting. That said, I did get to hop a bunch of interesting stuff like a Stearman (my very first loops and rolls and in an open cockpit), T-34 (lots of aerobatics), Waco UBF-2, Curtiss Junior, Lake Amphibian, lots of single engine modern stuff and Piper Aztec and Navajo. I have alot of good friends! I didn't realize the later civilial versions of the UH-1B had so much more power. No doubt that would be an entirely different beast. I'm looking forwad to some more photos. I love the idea of remanufacturing the old stuff. Always thought that would be a fun gig too. For me, low and slow was the thing that turned me on. No wonder the bike does almost the same thing I've always wanted to check out the Northwest. If I manage to do that sometime maybe you could give me my first rotorcraft ride................

Hey Jim. I seem to remember a photo you posted sometime back of your heliocopter. Wsan't it an old Huey, ummmmm UH-1B? Still flying it? (I assume you fly several different machines). Just wondering what the typical age and TT airframe of these machines are? I'm guessing the UH-1s, S-3s and that old Skycrane have gone quite a few miles in their time. Loved the video of the Skycrane nosing over down the slope. Not so sure though about the grapple method of snagging logs. I guess after awhile you become pretty good at sensing your rotor clearance (or perish) to be able to concentrate on picking up sticks. Can you still do lifts with down slope wind conditions? I've always been an airplane/copter nut. A few years back I flew at a local flying club, soloed and added 100 or so hours but never bothered taking the final test. I was having problems passing my medical. Motorcycles come awfully close to the feeling of flight.

There is a small but active Guzzi component and info for everything else out of Europe. Not a lot of banter right now due to midwinter stupor but when the temps get back up to freezing it should liven up. Hope we cross paths this year Ray. Thanks for getting me connected! I respect your opinion ferg and there are limits to the depths we sometimes plunge. Jaap does a pretty darn good job keeping things civil when we get carried away. I don't think anyone here celebrates the carnage that could be realized with any of these weapons. For me though I must admit the rush I get from blasting away at a gong or an old squash floating in the pond with a .458 Winmag or a full-auto M16 is much like the shot of adrenline I get blasting along on the V11. Is there a difference between the lethality of a 9mm handgun (or grenade for that matter) and riding a 500 pound motorcycle in an irresponsible manner? I just don't see the harm in some of us sharing our entusiasm over the responsible use of whatever "toys" we may choose even if in reality the nature of the toy is not the most PC. Noboby forces us to read every thread in the forum...................
