  1. Well, My 00 V11 requires a 10mm hex and my 03 is a 14mm , so who knows what your 01 Rosso is going to be Mike
  2. Richard, I think it is a 10mm hex that is needed. You should remove the rear wheel first and then the final drive assembly. To remove the rear wheel once the bike's rear is in the air, remove the rear brake bracket anchor from the left side of the swing arm. Next remove the rear axle nut. Now slide the axle out about 1/2 way. This will allow you to slide the rear caliper bracket down and forward to remove the caliper and bracket assy. from the rear brake disc. You can just let the bracket and caliper hang or tie it up out of the way. Now slide the rear axle out about 2/3 of the length. You will have to hold the wheel up to keep it at 90 degrees to the ground. Slide the wheel to the left and it should clear the final drive and rear axle. The small spacer is about 1/2 inch. long and goes between the final drive and wheel. It will sometimes stick to the wheel or final drive. Just look for it so you know where the little devil goes. Now to remove the final drive, just pull the axle out all the way while you are holding the final drive with the other hand. (this is easy since your drive shaft is not connected to your final drive anymore). Please note that the drive shaft has a mark between the two ends. This is a reference mark to keep the driveshaft in phase. If the drive shaft becomes separeted at the splines, just make sure the marks are lined up when the shaft halfs are slid back together. The mark is usually in white paint. Also when going back together, might as well grease the zirk fittings on the drive shaft. Make sure you get the driveshaft bolts torqued correctly, they have a tendency to work loose. I think I covered everything but if you have a question, just ask. Mike
  3. Question time! 1. Where did you get the PCIII Map? 2. At what throttle opening does the cough occur, 5%, 10%, 20% , 0% being closed throttle? I had a cough on the Ghezzi-Brian, I checked the valves, one side was tight but I still had a cough about 3 to 3500 rpm. I finally looked at the map and richened up the lower throttle openings at the rpms I was having the problem at. I just added in small amounts and rode the bike to work and then paid real close attention to what throttle opening it was at and what rpm. I could feel the problem getting better and better with every down load to the PCIII. I now just have a slight surge and I know it needs to be just a tad richer. Good luck, Mike
  4. Todd, You got mail! Mike
  5. Hi all, Picked up my bike from Monroe Motors this Saturday in San Francisco and I am still really impressed with their service. They said it would take a week for the repair and it did . While they had the transmission apart, they did notice a couple of things not right with it (from previous repair at another dealer), they did correct the problems they found as well as doing the transmission campaign. The bike never shifed this well . So two thumbs up to Monroe Motors Service department, super service, great crew and a service manager that knows what is up with your bike when you call! Who could ask for more? Mike
  6. I say, clutch switch. Next time it happens, while holding the clutch lever in, hit the starter button and turn the bars lock to lock. It the motor starts to crank, then you have a bad connection at the clutch switch connector located under the fuel tank. I bypassed my clutch switch on my 03 Rosso (at the clutch switch connector) and have had zero problems since. Nothing like being at a gas station, trying to get your bike started while your buddys have already left down the road. Good luck, Mike
  7. Whart, Believe it or not, the bike vibration mellows with miles, yes, like a fine wine . I don't have any bar end weights on my 00 V11 Sport and it just gives me a mellow vibration at any rpm. A good tune really helps as well. I don't think many dealers sync. the throttle bodys during the pre delivery inspection. After the first service, the vibration could be better. Happy to have you aboard, Mike

  9. Joe, My bike is in the shop at the moment (Monroe Motors) having the trans recalled preformed. I did tell the service writer to look at the sidecover while the trans is down for the leak. I have an extended service contract but as you know, the side cover is hard to get from Guzzi . I don't know what type of damage the gear would cause that is behind the cover. I would suspect that the pin fell out to the outside and then the gear fell down inside the transmission. If you need a spare transmission, I may have one up for grabs. Mike
  10. Hi Al, Thanks for the offer, I am a little short on time for the next two weeks. Need to get my bike ready for a two day track day coming up at the end of the month. New tires need to be installed, balanced, oils changed and suspension cranked up. Mike
  11. Ok, Are the Ram clutch setup low inertia because it has a single disc and or because of the aluminum flywheel? How much lighter are we talking compared to the V11 S which already has a lighter flywheel than the early spine framed bikes and Tonti framed bikes. Also, I like the fact that the assembly has been balanced which would most likely be better than the Guzzi way. http://www.mgcycle.com/clutch.html Mike
  12. Ok Joe and Carl, Now that I can post pictures (thanks again Ben), is it this shaft in the side cover (the one that the oil is leaking out of) that fell out? Mike
  13. Thanks Ben, I had 7 pages of pictures Had no idea that I was incontrol of what I posted. Sooo, I deleted the pictures that did not have any hits on them and left the rest. I did notice that the pictures that had the females posing with the Guzzi did have the most hits. Mike
  14. I need a drink Mike
  15. Humm, Seems like I am out of global space and I can't post anymore pictures . How do I correct this Mike
  16. Busted! Yep, selling off all the parts I have had laying around the garage. Mike
  17. Al, Were did you get the Megacam from and how much was it? Did you have to replace the lifters as well? How much off was the balance of your engine? Which pistons did you go with Mike Rich or FBF? Any other mods done when the engine was apart? I think everyone would like to hear results! Thanks, Mike
  18. Happy birthday Jaap! May you have many more! Man, you are only 39 Time to party Mike
  19. Al, I am running the suggested Guzzi tire pressures of 32 to 33.5 psi front and 35 to 36 psi in the rear. I use the higher pressure when riding two up and or with bags. Mike

    solenoid

Could the problem be the clutch switch sydrome? Just another thought, Mike
  21. Mike Stewart

    solenoid

Please make sure it is out of gear first Mike
  22. Found this on the UK ebay site, someone in the UK should pick this up! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7974318717&rd=1 Good luck, Mike
  23. I always fill my oil level to the highest mark also. I don't usual check the oil level unless I have a long ride planned (call me crazy, but my bikes just don't use oil). I did 2800 miles earlier this month on the Rosso Corsa and it hardly used any oil, still above the middle mark. Mike
  24. Al, I would like your input on the Megacycle cam and Mike Rich pistons that were installed into your bike. Can you feel the difference? Mike
