  1. i would like to grease the shaft on my rosso, how do i get to all the grease zerks. the locations are illustrated in the owners manual however the zerk located near the engine is difficult to reach. any tips or thoughts. does my bike have to be up on a stand to reach all the zerks? thanks scre happy new year
  2. there was some metallic dust stuck to the magnet, but i see a small amount of this stuff even on my harley oil changes! about the milky rear end oil, do i have a seal problem? scre
  3. finnaly got around to changing some fluids: 1st gear box oil change since the gearbox mandatory rebuild revealed oil that was very grey with a metallic scheen to the oil when viewed in the drain pan, the rear trans oil was very milky like water was in the oil, is this possible? or does this oil always appear this way. could i have a seal problem back there. anyways i replaced with amsoil severe gear 75/90 synthetic oil in both. also i located two grease zerks on the shaft in the rear but can't locate the front one as illustrated in the owners manual. where is it. how do you get to the tilted zerk in the shaft joint, looks very tight, do i need a special grease gun. thanks scre
  4. does anyone know the exact dates for the 2006 national rally in elkador iowa. i hear that it's one week later than usual in july. i need to request that week off at work. thanks scre
  5. i have a 2001 v11 sport with 5000 miles, what kind of gear oil are you guys using, i'm changing it today before the packer / min game. also who are you rooting for? scre
  6. the rear mono shock on my 2001 v11 sport rosso was leaking oil so i sent it to iowa for a rebuild. talked to my guy out there and he said he took everything completely apart, checked the seals, and could find nothing wrong except for the fact that the nitrogen was completely gone in the regulator. he said if the regulator had leaked there would be tell-tale moisture. there was none! he reassembled the shock, filled it back up with oil and nitro and has detected no leaks thus far. we got to wondering if by chance this shock was faulty from the start with not enough nitro in the res to put pressure on the seals, and then the leaking began! i'm going to put this white power shock back into my bike and hope for the best. has anyone heard of anything like this before? thanx scre
  7. thanks al, my mechanic got it in one hour with no problems. thanx scre
  8. i,m having the rear shock removed today for replacement. the wrench said he would remove it from the top and let some air out of the rear tire to help with room. i thought the whole rear wheel had to be removed to get the shock out. which way is the correct way of removing the rear uni shock and how difficult is removal and how long should it take. thanx scre
  9. what about the sachs shocks, i see they are on some of the 2004 v11's. the wilbers look good, but do you need to get the optional adjuster or could you use the current one?
  10. was told that the rear oem shock on the v11 in un-rebuildable. thinking of going with works performance instead of of olins. what do you guys think. the w-p job will cost about $700 p+l. the olins $1000. do you think that sounds about right? thanks scre
  11. brought the rosso home today after a long stay at the dealer for the recall work. the bike was in perfect condition, none of the black crinkle coat came off. the bike shifted very smoothly, it was almost uncanny the way the shifting blended together . however, i had several stalls when stopping for traffic and lights. i believe that was due to the fuel which was from last year even though i used stabilizer. it was just great bringing her home today.and to top off the trip home i passed a guy on a california special, what with all the other bikes out there today you hardly ever see another guzzi on the road. have a great weekend and ride safe
  12. anyone had the recall work done yet. how does it ride? scre
  13. sorry jaap, it's cycletires.com
  14. was at the cycle show last weekend and came across these colored tires from tomahawk, check out the website www.cycletires.com. the tires looked good but i thought the tread pattern was a little weak. the rubber compound felt very tacky despite their shiny appearence.there are some performance reviews on the website. thought you all might be interested!!!! btw, how do you set websites as hyperlinks. could someone walk me through it? thanks, scre
  15. john t , in the photo that you provided, can you identify and describe the "sliding dog", the alleged part that was improperly heat treated and therefore failed. thanks scre
  16. i don'y know how you guys respond so quickly in the middle of a workday, but thanks scre
  17. was at the chicago bike show this weekend and saw bar end mirrors on a bmw. i think the name was rsg? (help me out here). will they fit a v11 sport 2001? or are the napolens the way to go as mentioned in the previous post. does anyone have a website for the napoleons? thanks scre
  18. spoke with a mechanic who has done the recall trans work on two bikes so far.he said there was a lot of paperwork/form shuffeling back and forth to mgna, and initially there were only 19 kits in the u.s. for the techs who put in claims early. he said to be patient about parts as there will be monthly shipments. about the parts, he said that there were (other) parts in the kit, above and beyond the parts needed to do the recall fix and that the trans will no doubt feel and function noticably different than it did before. i asked about the cush drive, which has been referred to in other posts and he said that parts were included to address that. i'm sure to get more specific answers from guzzi reps that will be at the international motorcycle show in rosemont illinois in early february!!! scre
  19. just spoke to the dealer who's doing the recall work and he said he was waiting for some paperwork to fill out and send back to mgna. he has done that and said the parts for the fix will be in in a couple of days. he told me that mgna apparently has all the parts in the us for all the bikes they anticipate will need the repair.he also indicated that my rosso#67 does not qualify for the cam recall, yeaaa! scre
  20. al , i know you keep asking for this stuff but i'm sorry i don't have that info. two dealers have confirmed the trans recall, and the dealer i took my bike to said he talked to someone at guzzi/aprllia and parts would be available soon. call some other dealers from out of your area, go to the list of guzzi dealers on the guzzi website, and see if you can get some solid answers. i'd give you my dealers names but i'm afraid they wouldn't like all the phone calls they'd be getting from all accross the nation. also if you bought your bike new, if your vin is in the recall you will be getting a letter directly from guzzi! scre
  21. dropped my rosso off at the dealer yesterday before the snow flies here in the chicago area. the dealer said to bring it in for the trans fix and was told by the powers to be that he would have parts in 2 to 3 weeks.however they may end up storing it there for the winter, hey-- more room in the garage till spring.best of luck to the rest of you guys who need the fix. scre
  22. this is for the trans recall, the rod/rod bolt recall has not been officially announced yet!
  23. check out the carillo website: www.carilloind.com
  24. al call in your vin# to your dealer he should be able to tell you if your vin is in the vin range of the recall. the carillo rods, are these pushrods? scre
