Saw this on my local Craigslist site: https://albany.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2000-moto-guzzi-v11/6508373465.html. Maybe 20 miles from my house! I'm seriously thinking of purchasing this bike. Seems to have some nice add-ons. The bags, exhaust, Convertibars and foot controls. He noted that the tach did not work. Is this easy to fix ? Is it a fair price ? The guys at Wildguzzi sent me here:. "As mentioned above, buy it.. join the V11 lemans forum. That's where the hopelessly addicted V11 sport guys hang out.. and.. truly know every little thing about them. You'll be glad you did" I love Guzzis and have had a Rossa Corsa, an LM1, an LM4 and a Ballabio ( this was a lemon). They all leaked oil from one place or another. I'm a pretty good wrench but if I do get in over my head the closest Guzzi dealer is 2.5 hours away. I really like this bike but to be honest with with you guys i'm a little afraid of all the potential problems I could have. Am I worrying for nothing ?? As it has been awhile, what questions should I ask before purchasing ? Any help and encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ! Leon

https://albany.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2000-moto-guzzi-v11-sport/6262686102.html About 20 miles from my house. Was there a recall on the transmissions on these bikes ?? Price too high ?? Can the tach be fixed cheaply ?? What should I look out for including oil leaks ?? Seems like very low mileage. Is that bad ?? Thanks for any help or advice.

BAGS HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM SALE. Sorry

Here are some things to check out: 1. Any oil leaks ? 2. On my Rossa, the clutch went bad at 8,000 miles due to bad rivets on the clutch plates. They were bad from the factory and just broke apart.EXPENSIVE AND TIME CONSUMING TO REPLACE. 3. Is there grease in the steering bearings ? Mine had none and they were junk at 5800 miles. Too much cianti for Luigi that day ( week) ? I fixed them myself and not a fun job. The whole front end must come off. Yes Guzzi's are fun to own. It will make you a knowledgeable mechanic and electrician in no time. Do you have a dealer nearby ? Remember a lot of this is tongue in cheek. They are GREAT bikes but you must go into this ownership with both eyes open. I sold my Rossa and i do miss it. Leon

I have a set of TEKNO BAGS for most years V11 Sport, LeMans, Coppa Italia and most other spine frame models. They are in excellent condition. I have ALL THE MOUNTING HARDWARE. They bolt on in about 30 minutes. I think they are RELATIVELY rare and cost BIG bucks when new, if you can get them. I'm asking $225 CONUS SHIPPED. They are bulky and will be expensive to ship. Please email mishleon@msn.com if interested. The bags are located in Albany NY 12206. I take Paypal. If you use the gift option, no fees. If you are not comfortable with that, please add 4% for fees or I will take a personal check and ship the bags after the check clears. Thanks for your time and interest.

Hey Delman. I have the MPH Risers and love them. Good guys to deal with, at least last year. They had some health problems in the family that runs the business and things got a little disorganized. I think those issues are cleared up now though. The added height of the bars works for me. If you are good with tools, they are not too hard to install as they give you everything you need. Any questions let me know. Leon OLD Gitt

Loose, Rattling Front Crossover on 2003 V11 LeMans
bikelee replied to Rhino1's topic in Technical Topics
I have a 2003 Rossa. When my crossover started to loosen and leak and rattle, I bought some used header pipes ( without the crossover ) from a 2002 Scura that an owner was dismantling for $75 for both. This was for me the best option for me.It was easy, quick, clean looking, relatively inexpensive and NO more crossover to deal with. I think the bike runs BETTER with out the crossover. No loss of low end. The bike runs strong. Just do it. Your views may vary. OLD GITT. -
Just thought i would add that it is a good idea to have a fan or two going while you tune the engine to possibly avoid over heating the engine. Learned that from an old Guzzi mechanic. OLD GITT.

Anybody have a set of Tekno bag mounting instructions for a V11 LeMans 2003 Rossa. I bought a set but no instructions. I must be an idiot but I just can't get them to mount properly. I BELIEVE I have the right mounts and bolts. Or anybody have a picture of the mounts attached without the bags attached ? Maybe I can figure it out from that pic. Thanks, Leon. I want to thank you guys for this treatise on suspension adjustment. I'm gonna use this treatise on my Rossa. I think it handles pretty good now, but i think I can always make it a little better. Unfortunately it is like 15f degrees here in Upstate NY. Will have to try this stuff in the Spring. Be safe out there. Leon (OLD GITT)

I think I am gonna pass. I also think the price is too high and the bikes ARE very similar. I appreciate the help. Please have a SAFE and Happy Christmas and Year. Leon ( OLD GITT )

2004 Cafe Sport, Possible purchase Saw this on Max's website today: http://maxbmwmotorcycles.com/machine/details.aspx?ID=7435 They want $6500. There is no service history, rear seat cowl or warrantee. I talked to a man named Zac there and he says no oil leaks, starts and runs good and looks real clean. Is $6500 too much ? The machine is 2.5 hours from me and I'm thinking about going to take a look. It might be a nice companion to my Rossa or are they too similar ? Thanks for any advice or help. Merry Christmas !! Where did you get these (the angled valve stems) ? Also how hard was it to mount the Napoleon Bar end mirrors ? Can you tell me the basic installation procedure ? Was there a lot of filing and fitting ? Thanks for any help, Leon. (OLD GITT )

Where can I get a set of right angle tire valves that will work on my 2003 LeMans ? Thanks. Leon (Old Gitt)

I did the oil and filter change after a great 4 hour ride. I feel better about having clean oil over the winter in the bike. I put a hose clamp around the filter so it would not loosen. I really love my 03 Rossa. It really is a hell of a machine. What more can I say. I appreciate all the advice and encouragement. Thanks. Leon (Old Gitt)

I'm gonna put the V11 LeMans away for the winter. Soon the snow and salt will fly. I have 3200 miles since the last oil change ( last Fall ). Do I really need to do this ? I usually do this, I think just out of habit as I do not want dirty oil sitting in the crankcase all winter. Am I being OCD about this ? If I do this oil change should I change the filter also ? I see old wives tales debunked here such as " you must warm the oil first " before you drain it ". Is the " oil must be drained and replaced before winter " another of these old wives tales ? Just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks. Leon
