  1. There's a set of Veglia clocks on Ebay now.Someone will confirm if they are interchangeable but believe they are.
  2. Seals on the Scura were recalled for leaking.Assuming those were sorted for yours.Pro Pilot in NJ rebuilt mine when PO had it and they have 22K on them no problems,so 9k doesn't sound long enough for me.As Gene says,do it yourself or send it to the pros with winter coming as I would do.
  3. By the way Lee.Most of the problems come from the original relays from the factory. Most people who have changed them, which is most of us,haven't had a problem since. The next most common problem is the connection a the base of the relay panel.Once those are sorted it's rare that you will have issues. Not saying it wouldn't be a good idea to carry a couple, but like a tire repair kit,if you have one,you won't get a flat.
  4. Ive ridden a rental R1100 for 1500 -2000 miles or so and it handled great and was comfortable. But no soul, functional, utilitarian. The Guzzi's got that fun factor, handles nearly as well, not quite as comfortable as the Beemer.Just think the similarities (coincidental or not),albeit slight ,to the Griso, which hasn't sold that well is interesting.

  6. It would be nice Docc if I could be able to disconnect it for maintenance, repairs, etc.that's why I was looking for a quick disconnect, just want the best, most reliable ones people have some experience with.
  7. These Sumitomos look good. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/Sealed/sealed.html
  8. Ok I found the problem.A chafed wire at the bullet connector under the chin fairing going to the front signal stem.I occasionally get caught in a shower and wash the bike with a hose so I would like to upgrade these connectors as they're exposed to the elements.Any suggestion electrical experts, for a solid waterproof connector? Thanks Michael
  9. This is probably unrelated to an electrical problem. If you want help let me know.I'll be in the city Mon,Tues night I could take a look at it.I have done all my own tuning on the Scura and she runs perfect......
  10. You can also consider HL relays,LED bulbs for turn signals and brake lights which will reduce draw.
  11. The bike really is a no-frills roadster. In that realm it works quite well.Mine has a Rich Maud seat,MPH risers and MotoBits controls, which makes it comfortable for all day riding.Adding multiple power outputs or aux lighting is stressing the system.I run a Powerlet port for a heated vest, and plan on adding heated grips with.Beyond that,I wouldn't push it,and that is no city driving, just back roads above 4k most of the time.It may be too much work, time and money to try to convert to something else.If your thinking those are your needs you better be served with a Norge or a Japanese Sport Tourer. If you find a kit, please let us know. It's been asked for years and no one has come up with an answer.
  12. Yes.The most common problem of air leaks is the TB boots are cracked, sometimes hard to see,or the headers are loose and or leaking.
  13. I would try Peter at Reboot.I bought a complete clutch from a low mileage Griso from him for less than half of a new one.You will also need new friction plates, hub(input gear) locknut and washer and recommend pushrod o-ring.All the sources Baldini lists should have or be able to get them.TLM said Italy had hub in stock when I ordered and weeks later and multiple emails and urging by me they finally checked and said "Uh,it must have been a computer problem".Lesson is if they say its on backorder, keep looking as it could be months.

  15. Thanks Docc,I hope I can guilt to lazy sods into not lettin no backwoods Rebs to kick our sorry butts. Ive tried to propose it for years and got various responses ,some years good and some years none.We got clouded out a couple years ago.A shame as the Hudson Valley is one of the most beautiful places on earth, especially in the fall.National Geographic listed it as one of the places to see in 2013.I think we take it for granted because of it's proximity. Forecast looks to be in the mid-70's and sunny. Met a rider yesterday who owns this restaurant and is the chef so would be a good option for lunch,http://www.barnstormerbbq.com/ I can also find cheap accommodations or put a few guys up if they wanted to come in the night before,....
  16. My first weekend off since spring and figured I would propose a ride in the Mid-Hudson Valley for a day get together. Our brothers to the south put us to shame every year being able to pull off the South'n Spine with great success.Time for us to show that we actually ride these things. Meet in the morning ,have lunch and split up around 4pm.Would give those within a 1-3 hr radius to get home by dark, change our Depends and sit in front of the tele for a fresh episode of Lawrence Welk. Details and which day will be open to weather and interest. If we could finally pull this off ,would be a good rehearsal for a fall foliage gathering.
  17. Took me a few stabs to get the TPS/TB balance/Idle to where I wanted.Always a bit of a compromise, adjust here, changes over there and after you get it back on the road you may have to re-adjust.But as it seems you know, getting a TPS base is critical, after that one you get TB balance and idle close is where you'll do a pinch of this and a pinch of that air bypass,TPS,idle tweaks.
  18. Just like B & Q.May even be owned by same parent company as they look and lay their stores out the same.
  19. The pawl arms were mis-sized from the factory and caused the spring to break, they were corrected with an improved one from the factory. If yours hasn't been replaced yet it could be the cause. Belfastguzzi has been our sacrificial lamb and has give much blood, sweat and tears for the cause, here is his invaluable thread pertaining to spring and arm for those new and old to V11's,. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16872
  20. Dazz I'm in Ulster.I could ride the Scura down and we could A-B them side to side to see if there's a difference.I have about 19K on her and had the driveshaft disassembled, inspected and greased several hundred miles ago and it feels good to me but have nothing to reference it to. Michael
  21. You can use baby powder or athletes foot spray powder on the areas suspected of leaking, run the bike and get her up to temp, better yet ,run it on the road for a while and the leaks should reveal themselves through the powder. Don't touch the exhaust nuts until you spray them with a penetrant like PB Blaster.Let it sit overnight, heat them up and then try to loosen.Be careful as you dont want to damage the stud going into the head.
  22. The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor. Removing the airbox and adding a PCIII will NOT solve the problems, probably make it worse. You HAVE to get it running right before making any fueling changes as it will become much harder to chase problems.DONT WASTE MONEY. Get it tuned up.Either by you or a mechanic. Get the pawl spring repaired. What good is a bike that can't shift? Get the leaks fixed. Have all the maintenance procedures been done?Unlikely from the condition you are describing. Tires are less then three years old and in good condition? All fluids are fresh? Engine, transmission, bevel box, clutch, brake.Brake pads are good? Those HAVE to be done if your not sure. After all that, then you could add a PC. The shop manual is the best available out there.Between that and help here will get you through.
  23. Welcome Max. We'll get you sorted, depending on how committed you are.Be patient, many things I didn't understand when I first came here and now have a basic knowledge of most of the maintenance procedures, pulled the motor last year to replace the clutch and have it running sweet by my hand. First you'll need a set of tools. Sears Craftsmen have many metric sets of wrenches for cheap.Ya there are a lot of high quality tool companies, but for your first bike that you want to work on ,they will be fine. You'll need a variety of sockets, box and closed wrenches and hex wrenches. This would be a good set to start with, you'll need more but this will have many things you need to get started. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-188pc-all-metric-mechanics-tool-set/p-00933160000P?prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3 Sounds like you have from your symptoms, A pawl spring that need replacing. Not a big deal, lot of info here on the forum.Common problem. Dying at stop lights probably means it needs to have to have the idle adjusted. But when you do that you should set TPS and balance throttle bodies. Not a big deal ,but you would need a couple more tools for that. Also a lot of info here on the forum. Neutral light is powered by a switch on the side of the transmission selector cover.I had to replace mine at 19K. The leak at the top of the motor sounds like the breather hose. They crack and when they do they need to be replaced. Most leaks are caused by improperly torqued screws and bolts or failed gaskets. Some have to be fixed, others you may be able to live with for a while. I'm not sure about an 01 but my 02 has a shut off valve on the side of the tank.Just turn it till it closes.Someone can confirm if it's the same on the 01's You can see if you had any recalls done with the VIN number and any Guzzi dealer should be able to look it up. Do you have a friend that could help you wrench with some sort of mechanical experience? Michael
  24. Lee,did you ever replace the return spring? If the shifter is not getting hung up it could be that.If you haven't done it would be good to change it and I would change the other two while in there. If it's the seal on the output shaft should be realivtly easy to replace with the shaft out of the way.
  25. Thanks Docc,I had thought it was easier to find in the past.
