New helmet - flip-up?
mznyc replied to Paulsmartv11's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Isn't that what non-helmet wearing Harley owners say? -
A lot guys in the Sport-touring world have Michelin PR2CT's which I'm on my second set.Great grip in wet and decent wear. When I burn through these I'm gonna try the new Pirelli Angels GT.A lot of the heavy weight ST people are using them.Always looking for longer wear.

Lee if you don't know if the rear brake and clutch fluid have been replaced recently ,it's much easier with the rear wheel off.The clutch reservoir and nipple are difficult to get to.....FWIW And you greased/inspected the rear bearings and rear drive splines?

I may have mis-understood your post. You do know how to adjust the V setting or not?

LD here is the procedure.http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12204 I dont have my PC3 installed yet but most of the posts Ive seen on the subject recommend disconnecting and getting TPS,balance, and idle correct before adjusting PC.I found and some others that the bike ran better all-round with the stock ECU with the Ti's installed.FWIW

Cool Cafe Racer Poster Art !
mznyc replied to mznyc's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Looks like he does a lot of motor-themed commercial art.He has a store on his web-ste but it doesn't have this poster on it.I emailed him but he hasn't responded yet. http://www.taviscoburn.com/portfolio.php -

Here is a thread about greasing the front joint,if you haven't seen it yet.It wasn't as big a deal removing the swingarm as I thought it could be after doing it once.If you cant get that front end greased via the nipple you'll have to.If the front joint isn't greased maybe the swingarm bearings aren't either, ,just a thought,... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13418 Yup beer helps,

Spring Meet Lake George NY May 17th-18th 2013?
mznyc replied to mznyc's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
I'm confident you'll have it sorted by then Sean.I can give you a hand in a week or two if you dont have it fixed by then.Im no electrical expert but having a second set of eyes cant hurt.Ive found that most of the electrical problems Ive experienced or seen on the forum, have been a bad/loose connections as opposed to a broken part. To those in the area ,feel free to copy paste your name in if interested,no commitment ,... mznyc bikelee piper1 -
Lee another thread,I wrote up a list of removing the rear end that worked for me.Post #7 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17433&hl=mznyc&do=findComment&comment=185913 Thanks Docc !!

Lee without looking at the manual and going from memory,FWIW,I believe you could remove the driveshaft intact.Free the rear bevel box from the input(back) end of the shaft. On the front end there's a collar that protects the output of the tranny,I believe you have to remove that.Loosen the pinch bolts on both ends and she should be free. The grease nipples direct grease the the front, rear and center of the shaft,so if your gonna remove the shaft I would just slide the front of the shaft from the rear and grease those splines. There should be a paint mark that lines up the front to the rear of the shaft.Good time to paint your own if it's not clear. Word of caution, when reinstalling the shaft the pinch bolts line up to an indent on the input and output shafts. If you feel any resistance,STOP! They are not aligned properly.I had to wiggle mine a mil or 2 to get it to seat properly.

Roy,What would be the best way to bypass the normal circuit to the fuel pump to see if it's working properly? If that was possible maybe look at the ignition as maybe something is shorted in there. Also the sidestand would prevent the pump from turning on if the switch was bad or shorted.A way to bypass that?

Spring Meet Lake George NY May 17th-18th 2013?
mznyc replied to mznyc's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
Sounds good Lee! Maybe we'll see two Rossos together if Hal is around.A rarity in the US! I'll post a Google Map of the area next week and anyone who has road, food, accommodation ideas should be able to drop a pin on it. -
http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/2013-moto-guzzi-california-1400-custom-review-91530.html?utm_source=mo02282013&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly Pretty glowing review.Anyone who's ridden one agree/disagree ? Not that Im in the market for a cruiser, doesn't suit me yet as I can still ride 10-12 hrs on a sport-tourer,but hope this is a success as it may help the sport end of their lineup in the future.

I'm proposing a V11 meet May 17,18 2013 in the beautiful Lake George/Adirondack region of upstate New York.Ive done a couple short trips the last two falls and have found some beautiful roads and this weekend would be the last before Memorial Day and the invasion of the summer residents. I chose this region not only for the great riding and scenery but would be a good central point for NY/Boston/Upstate NY/NE/Ontario members.Less than 4 hrs ride from most of these areas. Meet in the Lake George area Friday night, ride hard Saturday on the west side of LG or LC ,maybe crossover to Vermont on Sunday till about 1-2pm and then split up.Everyone could make it home by supper. So what do you think? I'd be looking for your opinions for routes and accommodations from locals.I know many of the roads up there but not nearly as good as a local. Camp or motel? I'll probably go up in April for an overnight scouting trip ,if a local or anyone else would want to lead me around or meet and go over maps. If there's enough interest I'll continue organizing. Please offer up ideas and suggestions! Michael
