  1. Roy and Guzz this is the only writing I see on the cylinder.Is it under that plastic cover.Tried to get it off but it looks like it's secured by a couple screws from underneath. Got it off Haydn Thanks I'll take it to a local locksmith and see if they can cut a key.
  2. Thanks Haydn, That's awesome info,I'll look at it this week. Ya Ive "lost" my key once or twice to find it in the seat release lock,first place I looked but not that lucky this time!

Ya replacing them would be my last resort.Ill see if I can get that number without removing too much.I had planned on doing a front end service this winter and Check bearings and replace fork fluid were on the list. Other problem is the bike has the steering locked so not easy to move,so would assume I either need to have key made or disassemble in order to free the steering lock ! ,....or find my key

    Leon If you buy it and don't like it Ill take it off your hands.Im near Kingston so if you need help,or a second opinion let me know I have a lot of the maintenance proceduress down and just recently replaced clutch. If I was looking for a V11 I would ONLY look for a Ohlins equipped model.best suspension I've riddin on,ever.Does it have a PC 3? Michael
  6. Thanks for the help guys. Guzz what did you have to do to remove the ignition ? I would assume remove headlight,top clamp,and maybe clocks?
  7. I'm sure it will show up,probably fell behind or underneath something in the house but my one and only key for the Scura is missing. Ya I know stupid not having a spare,as I do for all the other bikes and have only lost 1 key the last 20 years but Murphy's Law strikes again. What would my options be? Have a locksmith come to the bike and cut one.Not impossible but I live in a rural area,miles from the nearest one. Remove the ignition cylinder and bring it to or send to a locksmith.Downside to that I would assume would be time .What would be involved in getting the sucker out? Could I remove the helmet lock and have one cut from there,that would be the easiest to get to but dont know if that has the same specs to work in the ignition. Thanks Michael

  9. ***Update*** Since people are still interested,just wanted to let you know this is not dead yet.When I proposed this I had a friend who could produce these at a price that I could break even at.Unfortunately his printer went down,I got busy with life,I got cash poor,and it went unfulfilled.Working on finding another supplier,trying to get a high quality product at a fair price.I'll keep you posted. Warren I'm thinking of proposing a get together in the Adirondacks in May possibly June,lotta nice roads and scenery.Would be a good point for our NYC/Boston/PA/Ontario members to meet.I'll propose dates in late March early April. Also now that I have the Scura running again,Id be glad to show you around the Catskills once the roads clear in the spring. Michael

That was for SD's info LR.Chuck's bike has above average performance ,from all reports,from what we would normally expect from a stock bike, which it is not.Of course Chuck knows this ,but SD wouldn't as he's a relatively new member here.Yes the bikes can wheelie, but not easily in stock form.
  12. The Mighty Scura will do power wheelies.. Should be noted that Chuck's Scura is a ringer with aftermarket pistons(and maybe more?),standard bikes don't perform that way!
  13. Good deal SD Forgot to mention to check plugs,gaps and wires.Also check for air leaks, TB boots tend to crack on these also the headers and xover can be a cause of leaks!

Yes Jaap it was a benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims.A lot of my friends worked on the show and I work in that building often,be there tomorrow doing TV production.Very well put together show.R.Waters,Stones,Who,Bruce Springsteen,Billy Joel,Bon Jovi.A bunch of ole 60,70's era stars doin short sets.Other than the Kayne set ,a big success. Apparently Joel as been a biker for decades even before he was famous and a real enthusiast.He opened a cafe in Long Island which I havent been to yet as I usually stay away from celebrity ventures as they're generally crap,but I cant imagine a small cafe making much money so more a of a labour of love than a way to make a quick buck and a place for bikers to get together and talk bikes.

Welcome Strift daddy The bike does have it's limitations ,I'm used to riding V-4 Hondas so that kind of HP and performance doesn't exist in them.They are quite enjoyable to ride in the small rev area that they like,5-7K ,keep it in there and you'll be happy. I would agree,make sure the bike is running properly first, Valves set correctly Air filter clean FI balanced TPS set If you dont think that's not enough power there are several things you can do easily with a little money, Aftermarket Cans,got them already Mistral X-Over PC3 freer flowing air filter and/or airbox mod There also a new air filter kit being offered by Guzzitech which removes the airbox cover altogether After that you would be looking at aftermarket Pistons,and port,top end work.   18. YES!!!! Remove the NEG lead first from the battery THEN, the Pos lead.intstall in reverse order. ****Important****!!!!! Use caution the Pos lead of battery is about an inch from the Ecu neg lead.Several people have blown ECU's by shorting those lead$$$$$$$
  19. Dont know if anyone has posted this yet or how long ago it was done,but I like this guy's attitude and style. An interview with Miguel Galluzzi,(rhymes with Moto Guzzi) VP of design for MG.   20. That sounds like a fueling issue. I think it's a jerky clutch egagement....but don't know why it's only 3rd to 4th. Ya that's weird that it only does it in one gear.I had missed shifts and false neutrals for a while,changed,clutch fluid,played with the eccentric nut,(the bike's not mine),changed trans fluid,replaced clutch and it turned out to be a bad pre-selector assembly.Got a used one on ebay and voila it shifts.So ya could be one of several possibilities. No I wouldn't think at 20K they would be worn.Maybe a leak,Would amount to the same labor as doin the clutch cause you have to pull the clutch to get the rear seal on the block.They dont blow very often but we've seen a few here.If it's not a leak or plates,Im sure one of the residents experts may offer a guess.I have the tools for the clutch job and transmission lock nut if you have to do it. I hear ya about multiple bikes,not enough time.I got a couple big projects in the queue now that the Scura's back on the road.

  23. Well I would say it "could" be worn clutch plates but not "definite" without further investigation. First thing you could do is look through the timing inspection hole,or better yet remove starter and look for fluid.There are two seals in there,one for the engine oil,one for the transmission fluid.If fluid gets on the plates,they'll slip.Also if the clutch MC fluid hasn't been flushed for a while you can try changing that and see if it helps,unlikely but worth a shot if the housing looks dry inside. If you have to change the plates it involves pulling the transmission or engine,which I did a few months ago.Not a huge job but you'll need parts and tools and a way to lift the bike.(A simple hydraulic lift and a factory rear stand will do)About a day or two depending on your ability,experience,tool selection and if you have help. Let us know what you find,if it is the plates ,a good winter project! Michael
