  1. Differences between Walmart filter left and OEM right.
  2. Light at the end of the tunnel. Left old filter gasket on sump,so had to drop it again. Rear diff on.Took quite a bit of fiddling to get rear to marry up the splines on shaft and be able to turn clamp bolts by hand.Yes I had it lined up to the indent on the shaft but if your a .25 mill off it wont go in without force. Headers on. Airbox on. Torque bar on. All connections to engine done. Couldn't find a 18mm plug for Mistral locally, came used from a member without it.Best place to get one online? Isnt she a beauty? Was that for an o2 sensor? Stock one doesn't have one.So reinstalled stock X-over,and down the road I'll install Mistral and PC3. New rear Pilot Road ,I'll put one on the front after first road test. Tomorrow,.... Rear wheel/ Body work Tank Start er up?
  3. MZ - YOu in NYC? Yup,bikes I leave up near New Paltz/Woodstock
  4. Found mine stuck to new filter, what timing. Id rather be lucky than good.

Hi Rich Im going to my garage, not at home, to do some work.I'll try to remember to jot down some specs for ya ,unless someone else chimes in first. There is a download available,do a search on site.
  6. Docc thank you I read this after just getting back from the garage after changing the oil.Made me get ta thinkin',as y'all tend to say.I went back to finish up some work and low and behold the old filter has lost it's o-ring.I'll bet the pink slip it's in the sump. Thank ya, thank ya, thank ya,...
  7. Yup this sounds like a classic air leak. Bike runs fine, then all of a sudden symptoms your describing .usually the rubber at the inlets but could also be header and mid pipe joints ,so check them all. Cracks don't need to be big, just enough to change FI and that aint much.If no cracks, and all joints solid I would definitely check all other suggestions as they all make sense.Particularly the coils.
  8. Anyone have a picture of the needle bearing? I may have greased it already but not sure Thanks Michael PS Toby if you do take the rear end out be sure to support the bevel box and shaft as thats waay to much weight to dangle there And before you touch the swing arm the two threaded shafts that go through the frame and swing arm should be measured .You back those out to release the swing arm but want to restore to those measurements when re-installing as in photo In post#33 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17074&st=0
  9. More progress today. All connections made to motor.Electrical,fuel/vent tubes. Bleed front brakes, and clutch. Encouraging news is that pulling clutch lever in and tranny in gear no resistance or scary noises when turning drive shaft by hand/ Put battery on charger as it's sat since Feb,if it fails have a new Odyssey waiting in the wings.I gonna keep running the original Spark 500 till it dies.So far,it been Freddie Kruger.Cant kill it. What's left,... Drop pan and replace oil filter and pan gasket, even though it isnt leaking through several oil changing. New tires, replace rear before putting back on. New Mistral X-over,while re-assembling exhaust. Tank back on and various body parts and should be ready to start her up,.... If it all works, then on to,.. PC 111 install Front tire and check/grease bearings Later in the season Install fuse block Upgrade grounds Heated grips Replace fork fluid Steering bearings Etc,etc,etc,...
  10. Motor mated up to tranny took a bit of fiddling.Have the sub frame suspended by an overhead lift, with a jack under the motor to be able to adjust either the block or tranny's height to assist in lining up.The key here is that there is no pressure on the studs to align and prevent snapping a stud.Made a tranny lock with an old friction plate anchored to the sub frame rail to help hold tranny when loosening and tightening hub locknut.
  11. Clutch hub in,new clutch assembly installed, got motor studs to line up to tranny but couldn't get those last couple of millimeters to mate up.Got late and tired ,back at it later today and post some pics.Goal of the day will be to have motor and all connections to it done today. Inching forward,.....
  12. No worries,misery loves company,....
  13. Yeah, I carry a hammer too. The linkage must be disconnected. There is a nut underneath that often falls off. You've still got your clutch? It's holding on for dear life, I would say. The clutch is sharper on the Scuras. I liked the way it operated. John had the VDST, VSTD, STD or whatever. Maybe he had all three. It shows what's going on but I think there's a limit to what settings can be changed with it. There are others here that know about it.
  14. My Italian blood Jason, stubborn as a mule.
  15. Mo I wouldn't be too worried.I haven't heard of any replacement RAM's blowin up.The main problems are that the flywheels of the original OEM RAM had a handful of ones let go.The other problem is that they wear quicker than the twin plates as they were designed for racing where the motor was torn down regularly, hardly convenient for a street bike.If it's running ok I wouldnt run out and change it right away, others may disagree.Im changing mine because shifting has become a game of chance and the added piece of mind of the reliable twin plate is a huge plus. Maybe start doing research about doin the swap, scan ebay and the Guzzi recyclers for parts so when your ready to do the change you'll have all parts and info needed to do it. I'm just starting to get back into mine as I was waiting on a part for three months.Motor should be back in next week so I'll be posting up when I have updates. Id be more worried about riding on 10 psi in a front tire!
  16. Videos of checking TDC
  17. Thanks for the response, think I got it.I go to Scotland often enough to know when it's warm and sunny you have to take advantage of it.
  18. Hi Keith Yes it's a Griso.I'm not sure, but I thought the original Scura marks wern't exact. So I'm not saying they're different, just asking if other people have experienced this, inaccurate flywheel marks, albeit very close.Suggesting making an accurate mark on new flywheel sounds like a good idea. Cheers Michael
  19. Halleluja!Halleluja! Halleluja,Halleluja,Hall-lu-u-jaaaa! This was originally ordered June 14th.Something that was in stock in the US.Pretty much the whole summer lost.
  20. I always liked his humble," hat in hand",tone of his posts.Respectful.Something that is lacking from many online forums as we let traditional manners go to the wayside because of anonymity of the internet. He didn't. Ride on Slav,Ride on,....
  21. Thanks Jason. The important question here was "Are those marks exact?"Which your saying they are not. This is what I assumed as I havent touched the timing in any way and the bike has run perfect before removal, just separated motor from transmission and pulled clutch. In theory if I get new flywheel marks to show in the window ,or thereabouts while at TDC on each side, I should be good to go.The first thing I noticed as you mentioned is with the bolt pattern in only one position will those marks be close.Left is dead-on, right mark is and inch or so from window,so I believe I'm good, even without using a degree wheel, haven't been able to find one locally. Please feel free to throw in your 2cents if anyone disagrees.
  22. Yup,not a big deal and you will be able to give wheel bearings a look and grease as there have been many failures thought to be from a lack of grease from factory.Shouldn't take more than an hour or two if you've never done it and you take your time.
  23. Thanks 68.any reason I couldnt a bolt the same size as the spark plug, but and inch longer as a positive stop device as I dont have access to a welder?Put something on the end that wont damage the piston and wont come off. Is the exact length crucial? Assuming the important thing is the relationship/measurement of when the contact from both rotations as the reference? Thanks Roy.This is the method I use for adjusting the valves.I use a wood chopstick as a probe. Trying to find out if those flywheel marks are crucial or just Guzzi's "Atza closa nuff" engineering. From memory I thought they werent exact from the first adjust I did,but not a 100% sure,.... Finding what I believe TDC is not the problem.Piston at the top of it's travel,no pressure on rocker arms. I dont know what adjusting the firing angle means.I didnt mention that so you kinda lost me there as to why you bring it up,...
  24. Speed Bleeder makes a model for out clutch. It's slightly long and I had mine ground down a couple mm's and works great. Read this first post #21,... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16028&st=0&p=174198&hl=mznyc&fromsearch=1entry174198
  25. Ya it's comical at this point. The sad thing is this is a well know, good reputation dealer.I wonder how a bad one would have handled it?
