And comedy ensues.Dealer sent it to my apartment a 100 miles away. For six years I have had them sent all parts to my house where the bike is. Good thing is I may have a job there so the client will pay me for my time and mileage to go there.Hopefully it wont go disappearing from my mailbox,or wherever it got left. The sage continues,.....

So finally gettin back into this week as Ive been wiating for hub from dealer for over two months. Still questioning whether I got this right. I got one side(believe it was left) to line up perfectly at TDC but the other side's flywheel mark would be an inch or two from the sight window at that cylinder's TDC.Is this common/acceptable,bike had been running perfectly before tearing apart and kinda remember that it was like that on last valve adjustment with the original flywheel. Is this a case of the marks not being an exact science and a Guzzi quirk? Just get it close when you have TDC? Thanks Michael

Scura has new Italian stable mate,...
mznyc replied to mznyc's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Thanks Jason.I hope they make a next Gen ST,with with a 1098/1198 motor and seating position and comfort of the previous ones.Add the farkles of the new MS,ES/TC,etc.The dual sports are obviously more biased to the road and the look isnt for me,even though the new MS is definitely the sexiest of all of them.I better not ride one as I know I'll be hooked! And as you know the older 2,4v models have character that the newer refined ones dont have.I'm sure if you get a good Norge from the factory it would be sweet, but they still aren't up the Ducs standards, close but not quite there.Unfortunately the V11 is a roadster in my mind, all motor, suspension, brakes,no frills.I can ride it for an all day ride, but all day for a week or two I need a little more comfort and the ST gives that and a superbike motor to boot Cheers! -
I would not be shocked if Guzzi just threw anything lying around in there.Possibly an older pawl arm with incorrect sized boss. It's not a big deal to pull the cover off,but the cost of the pawl arm,@ $70 US is cheaper than a couple hrs of my time to pull the cover, replace spring and put back together.Anyone changing the spring should change the the pawl at the same time if they dont want to open it up again in the near future,...

Thanks Keith I have the correct one.Just letting Jaap know that is the part. **Update** Well finally I heard from the manager from dealer,(cause I called them, not them calling me),and they're gonna 3 day UPS it to them and then send it to me at they're cost.Guzzi's still says it's in the warehouse,ah,we'll see.

Very cool,Thanks.Yup #6 in the pic,I'll try to call them tomorrow.I also have to call the manager of the offending US dealership tomorrow. This was the last correspondence from them, "Hi Michael, We emailed Piaggio on Thursday and are awaiting instructions. We do not know if they will automatically re-fill all orders or if we need to re-submit the order. We want to avoid duplicate orders/shipments. I expect to hear first thing next week and we will let you know." So waiting,.... Must be something in the air, tried another reputable US dealer(also well known to the forum) where the bike came from originally.Ive stopped in there when working in that city just to say hi and have bought a few small items from them since. Emailed them,no response. Called ,dealer says computer not working,we'll call you back.No return call in 3 days. Follow up with an email,no response yet but sure they're closed today Monday Im not making all this stuff up.We're all used to,un-empathetic customer service nowadays.Airlines, phone, cable companies,DMV,just a way of life now.But these people are supposed to be part of our small community and without us they can't survive. This is a business model I just dont understand.

Hi Jaap The clutch hub is the input gear that connects the tranny to the clutch assembly.Nothing on Ebay but a complete tranny though.Unfortunately too expensive. It may prove eventually that the transmission is an 02 dog.Once I get it back together Ill know pretty quick,... Thanks
-
Hi Keith That was more than generous for you to do that.Thank you. I have checked everybody except Agostini's.So I will.I need a standard 6-speed twin plate hub.The sad thing is that it is at the main Guzzi warehouse in the US.But the dealer doesnt want to order it again and have two orders floating around.I cant believe they and MGNA wouldnt want to get these orders out ASAP to the dealer and the customer, regardless of what complications with two orders floating out there. Their problem, not mine.
-
Just from the manager of the dealership and they now want to wait for Piaggio to tell them what to do,Are you kiddin me?!!! I would think would be jumping over themselves to resolve this for a return customer because of how poorly it was handled.

Ha ha no you missed update, dealer is finally re-ordering with my insistence.I was offering to PM you to tell you who the euro dealer is as I dont want to publicly bash them. So hopefully in 2 weeks I'll see something. Thanks though.

Is that the new Pierre Terblanche project? He's gettin quite conservative,..

Yup frustration is the best way to describe it Gavo.I was taught by my family while growing up that making a promise to someone you must do everything in your power to meet that promise.Cars break down, people get sick and even dogs have been known to eat homework.Beyond acts of God,our word is one of the most important things in our life we can control. To our family, friends, children, bosses and customers. PS Finally the dealer re-ordered the part after 45 days only because of my insistence. My guess is I'll see in 2 weeks best case scenario.Which will make the original estimate of two weeks to nearly two months.Promises

Ha Ha mighty wisdom from you Hubert,PM me and I'll pass on to you who the dealer in Europe was,but thought you coulda read through the lines. If you bothered to read the post you would realize that I WAS the only person acting, while the dealers said just wait.Wasn't till my prodding they took any action. The issue is the bike will be down for well over two months and shouldn't have been more than a couple weeks because of parts counter monkeys not doin their job.Hope you don't get shut down for most of the summer because of someone else s incompetency. I warned you it was a rant,.....

So my Scura has been dormant for about a year because of clutch. I rented a garage space for project so every month the cost of the project goes up. Find out my clutch hub is incorrect, got to order one. Go to first dealer in US(well known here on the forum) they want list price but it'll take a week. Euro dealer sells for much cheaper(another well known one) doesn't have it but "expected it in a week".I explain I'm under time crunch and assured week is a fair estimate.Ok,told to order online, order online. No response.Email them, next day.Their response "Uh did you order it,we cant find it",I respond yes I did, then a "Oh we found it" response.Day lost, no biggie. 8 days later,no word.I email them for status and told they will "let me know when it comes in".I take this for don't contact us we'll contact you,but say "OK". Three weeks later I ask for status.Response,"No update".No offer of "We'll look into and get back to you",just we don't know.OK,I remind him they told me a week and will have to cancel if you cannot give me a date. Then they contact Piaggio and tell me it's out of stock with no estimate,"must a been an error with the computer".Argh!! I lost a month!!! Cancel order. Go back to first dealer but assured it is in stock at MGNA warehouse and will take a week.Even though they are almost double in price,I order it. Pay for it,no confirmation of order.Next day email them,"was it ordered, did you confirm it was in stock?","yes,we'll let you know when we get it".No response to the "was it in stock?" question.Oh boy here we go,...OK. Eleven days go buy, update? Dealer,"It didn’t show today but I have every confidence that it will show this week" Me,"Thanks for the follow up Do you KNOW if it left the warehouse? If not could you find out? As of tomorrow we're at 13 days since I ordered this.It was expected within 7.You and I know it doesn't take two weeks to go across the country.3-5 is average,7-10 not uncommon,13 ,somethings wrong." Finally three days later he looks in to it and,"it looks like was delayed by a train derailment on the 18th" No update we'll let you know.Great. UPS doesn't know where the package is.OK so you would think he would say I'll order another ASAP and get one right out to you but no I get this"I just talked to a UPS rep that says the goods have not been reported as damaged and so they tell me to wait a few more days then check again" So I suggest they have another sent so there are no more delays, and he says ,"That'll cost more" Wrong answer!! I'm checking other dealers,if I can get it,Im cancelling.... I have no problem, with unexpected issues out of the dealers control, but when asked to do their job, making a phone call, shooting an email, the level of apathy is astounding considering the economic times and Guzzi struggling in the market. If you can;t give me a good price,at least give me professional service. Many of these emails took well over 24 hrs to get a response and few were several days.Even after it was discovered there was a problem with the suppliers. No urgency in their responses. Sorry about the rant ,but Piaggio and MGNA have pledged that stocking parts and getting them to the customers, was of the utmost importance in the present day and coming years. My experience is not that.Nearly two months on and still in limbo, and if I'm lucky I'll have something in the next couple weeks. Good job dealers!

By the way,we generally refer to the V1100 Sport as a "V11" or "V11S" and the previous model is referred as a 1100 Sport(carbs) and 1100 Sporti(Fuel injection)to avoid confusion,FYI.But you can call it anything you like By the way I rented a R1100 back around 2000 for a tour in California, great bike, amazing handling, but that motor had nothing above 5-6K,kept hitting the rev limiter(my fault) when making passes on the PCH. Functional, yes.Sexy, !

They pop up on Ebay,CL,and Auto Trader every so often.Just have to be patient.Put a post in classified wanted section.Patience and it will come. I saw one go for about $6500.00 a few weeks after I got the Scura in 06 and market had been great for several years with the economy going down, but as things have stabilized the prices have gone back up.7-10K seem to be the range.

I'll bet it's a Burgundy if it's an 03.The standard model. If it's in good shape with 7600 miles on it that's a fair deal.Look for peeling paint on engine, pawl arm and spring have been replaced and maintenance records. There can be no evidence that it was dropped as the frames dont like it.Clutch should feel smooth and strong with no grabbyness All original, any factory aftermarket stuff? PS Im a whore for a good deal,Id offer less with cash, but that's just cheap me,.... Most early issues were sorted by 03 but the factory did label some bikes built in 02 as 03's.Bastardis! Great info here, http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5691 If you need more help PM me Im in NYC Michael Good luck!

I would go the "buy a bike that I wont have an emotional attachment to" route. At least until you move somewhere with a garage, if that will ever happen. Can you rent a garage space somewhere farther inland? The Kawasaki Versys won BOT a couple years ago, great all rounder and I see a lot of low miles, clean ones for cheap on Ebay. For something sportier the Ninja 650(same motor as Versys),or Suzuki SV1000,I owned a 650 and had a blast with it,had a similar space problem and sold to a friend. Cant explain why your neighbors bike is not showing rust though, odd, maybe cleaning after every ride? Hmm,divorce you say,...

I haven't needed to do the spray test ever.Just know that carb cleaner corrodes rubber and should NEVER go near the inlet boots. I had a similar thing happen to me as my boots came off their clamps.Im assuming a backfire created a vacuum which tried to suck the rubbers back in,

Carb cleaner eats rubber parts right quick

Michael, while you've got it apart...what state are your swingarm bearings in? Also - did you check alignment of the driveshaft halves? KB Both good Keith ,feel free to make any other suggestions as Im sure Ill forget sompthin

I love the look of the Scura and the Ohlins suspensions rocks, but, the clutch should be changed to a RAM replacement or OEM twin plater, so you have to factor that into cost if it hadnt already been done by the PO.Many cases of the stock clutch grenading. If you go for an 04,Nero,Rosso,if you want the fairing,Cafe Sport if you want to go naked. Most issues were sorted by then. Before Current state in the clutch swap

What's this Docc? I missed this, maybe cause I havent had any heat related issues.
