Sounds like your brother is OK ,since you didn't mention any injuries ,so that's the most important thing here. That's a shame,Rossos are in my opinion the prettiest V11 out there. I had a front end crash many years ago on a VFR and decided to keep her and rebuild, but you always find something that needs fixing and/or replacing that you didn't see at first adding to the cost.May be a better option to keep and part out and try to find a mint one in the classifieds as they show up every few months on EBay,Cycle Trader,Craigslist, etc. Never had an Ohlins till I bought the Scura, best suspenders Ive ever had.Think they'll slip in .Believe the fender is different, not sure about the wheel. If you go this way though you'll want to upgrade to rear to match the quality of the front, adding to the cost. Do you think this guy will have a problem with his insurance claim? http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/rear-ended-biker-lands-on-feet/1jr9ppzz8?rel=msn&cpkey=c0cc4133-bd5e-4b47-a683-6fac8370ea56%7CCrash%7Cmsn%7C -

Hi Pete, The solenoid can be cleaned.I had very similar symptoms and found the solenoid to be caked with gunk.Cleaned it and problem went away.If you do try to clean it,disconnect battery first ,but take care as the battery leads are mere inches from the ECU leads.Do not short them! Doing that caused me to replace to solenoid a few years back Will only cost you about an hour of time to clean and inspect start to finish, even if it's not the problem, worth doin. Yup ,sounds like it could be an air leak.Check TB boots as those tend to be a weak point. PS This thread should be in the "Older Models" section

OK I'm getting back into this in the next few days. I want to do the "roadside spring repair method(Keith or Bal?)" of getting the cover off as the redline is fresh and I don't want to lose it. How far over do I have to be in order to not create a pool of the red gold on the workspace? Thanks Michael -
Damm that thing sounds goood! Dry clutch? As a big fan of V-4's,to me the perfect motor, this is very promising.Ive owned 3 VFR's and an ST1100.Many who have never owned them say they're boring. The quiet UJM exhaust fool the uneducated.Grunt and torque down low, rush of power up top. The bike that Guzzi has yet to build. The Norge doesn't do it for me.Even the name is un-inspiring. The Motus,Modern, soulful motor, comfortable and hard bags.Wish they would shaft-drive it though.Quality control yet to be determined. From the Motus site, like I wrote it myself, "The MST is a fresh take on the American motorcycle - a comfortable sportbike designed for long distance canyon carving, solo or two-up. After a long autumn ride in 2007, we sat around telling tales and envisioning our ultimate dream bike. “More comfort”, was suggested by the race-replica rider rubbing her wrists and back. “Longer range”, gasped another who sputtered in on fumes. “Better performance”, said the cruiser guy who brought up the rear. Wind protection, light weight, multiple power ports, and sensible seat height were also jotted down. " Yes,price will be a problem for most, but ya gotta start somewhere ,and if it's a success, larger numbers will make them available to the masses.Ive been saying for years that I would love to buy an American sport bike but the Buell was not the answer ,as the ancient motor was limited and QC was shite, and for the most part they were ugly. Love the Scura, but downtime due to fixing crap designs, lackadaisical QC,waiting on parts, indifferent/non-existent customer service from Goose, and nothing exciting on the horizon(please stop regurgitating the Breva in various forms Piaggio!! ) bum me out. Go Motus!

Welcome back! KB +1 Thanks Al,all springs have been sourced from Mich at MI a few months ago,so would assume they're all up to date. I'll be gettin into this next few weeks -
Keith, I gave up a long time ago,....

OK I didn't realise that as well as the fuse the relay controls this as well. Yes relays have caused me the biggest problems with this bike, but the easiest fix also! (Replace them) Thanks Also Kiwi Roy has a write-up of a Relay Base Repair which is also a weak point.Worth checking out.

Thanks theoneandonly, Checked pawl arm a while back,PO must have replaced it with the correct one while dealing all the problems he had with this box. I'll be replacing all three springs once the snow clears Cant open the shed till then -
The LiPoFe's are getting a lot of attention on the Triumph forum, http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-forum/163424-shorai-lifepo-battery.html Someone bought a 18ah model for $165. Comparable to a PC 545 in price but much less weight.Longevity will be the big question until they're in the real world for several years. http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-forum/163424-shorai-lifepo-battery.html I was having problems starting and bought a PC 545,found out it was starter solenoid related issue and the Odyssey sits on the shelf while the original Spark 500 still starts every time with the help of a trickle charger.

The first thing on the road to recovery of an addiction is admitting you have a problem. My name is Michael and I have a motorcycle acquisition addiction.

I like the wooden parking brake. Chains or studded tires are next

Always wanted one and they are currently pretty cheap as we're buried under snow here in the North East. She's a '95 completely stock,un-crashed/dropped example.Have the rear seat cowl which really improves her lines IMHO.Doesn't look like it was ever driven in the rain,my Scura better be nice to me,... Check er out,

Hi crawsue, I was totally clueless to tuning the Guzzi and with help here ,have her running perrfect for several seasons now.So if I can do it,you can do it.There's lots of info here in the tech and how to sections.Make sure you don't have any air leaks in the exhaust or the rubber boots connected to the Tb's.They tend to crack and will mess with the A/F ratio right quick. We have several members around Glasgow, and east coast of Ireland,so hopefully some one will chime in .My girlfriend's in Kilmarnock but I may not be there till spring. If you haven't sorted it by then, we'll hook up and get her straightened out. PS If you move this to the tech section it will get more notice by the technically proficient members on the forum. Michael

Thanks Kale cool side by side.I have an 02 but the wheels look like the 03's and it doesn't have the slotted locating pin. Also Micha from Moto International has said that they have had luck by removing the locating pin all together on some poorly shifting bikes. He specifically stated this may not work for any particular bike.I'll be trying that plus replacing all springs when I get into it,maybe this week,....

It's good to see that more than one person has had positive results with replacing ALL springs, as I have planned to do this because Ive tried everything else that had been suggested. Many people have offered solutions, but nobody had mentioned trying replacing all the springs.Just felt that my problem is lack of tension which is what the springs are supposed to do.May not help me,but maybe we're on to something.Unfortunately snow, work, holidays have prevented me from getting in to it.Hope we'll get a few days of thaw after the holidays so I can take her for a test ride.I like your bench test though Tom ,I'll be doing that before I put it back on the bike.

Hi Nuevototem If you do adjust the eccentric adjuster,do it in very small increments then go for a ride.Too much play one way or the other then make an adjustment to adjust. Also make sure the bike is up to temperature. My bike's shifting get's worse when the bike is hot.

Had the same situation happen years on my ST1100 and I think it cost about $100.00 bucks to have a locksmith come to me and cut a key.Fit ignition, seat locks, and luggage perfectly and still using key to this day.
