  1. OK Guys,we'll reschedule.I'll post up an alternate date later today, Going back to bed,......
  2. Cool Ed, Your on!Too bad it wasn't today,I was Westpoint(working) and it was perfect.I'll be at the meet point about 930 unless it's a downpour when I'm leaving. Michael
  3. So forecast hasn't changed much,30% chance of showers.Earlier Weather.com said showers shouldn't come in till late in the day,.. So with that ,I'll still be willing to meet up with any harder souls, post up or PM me.If it's raining when I get up I'll post up if I think I need to cancel, probably by 8am so please check thread before you leave. Michael
  4. 40% chance of rain is 60% chance of dry Still 36 hrs and I'll be an optimist here. I'll post up around 9-10pm tomorrow night when I get the latest forecast. A local and I are suppossed to meet at 8am and take the backroads down to Stony Point. If it still looks iffy and we do meet at 8am ,I'll post up real time accounts on whats going on up here.May give us an hour or so of a later start but still give us a nice day of riding if it remains dry
  5. OK,looks like option #2 is the winner. I'm thinking about 10 am as the kickstand up time at the meet point. There is a Dunkin Donut and gas station there, according to GMaps, if anybody will need those services.I will shoot to be there by 930,to get a cuppa Joe,BS,go over ride rules. Ride should take about 5hrs with lunch and the 3 optional spurs I added on there.Top of Bear Mountain,218 to Storm King, and the few miles on 202.We can trim any and all those if were running short of time.So this would get us to either the Taconic or 84 between 3-4pm. Friendly reminder to make sure your ride is good condition, preflight walkaround, cold tire pressures checked, all paperwork in order and on your person and bring/print out maps if you don't know the area well,(I do and always carry a map, just in case)and might want to break off early. Weather's looking dodgy, but as always could change so we'll play that by ear,as they are wrong occasionally.Probably make that call Saturday night. If it looks like scattered showers,I'll stil, be up for it,if it's a washout we'll reschedule. Looking forward to meeting ya'll and seeing more than 1 V11 in one place!
  6. Ed it's no problem if your son comes along,I well know about the LEO's,just don't ask me ,HOW, I know We'll be running at moderate pace, especially in the parks and towns. If I lead ,I stop at every intersection till everyone catches up . Those Mad maps are cool FL but I dont do GPS on the bike, love maps and I don't think the electrical system could handle it . We'll agree on a start time later in the week once we have a head count, probably Friday or Saturday.
  7. status/route preference/Better half's required time to return,before she goes all Lorena Bobbit on ya,... 1) mznyc +1 Definite/either route/anytime 2) fasted+1 probable/either route/? 3) Falconlion ?/#2/?
  8. I'm pretty bad at google Maps but here she is Proposal #1 Start point is about 2 hours from the city, should take 5 hrs 40 mins without stops.A couple roads are not here and a piece of 209 will be eliminated so should be pretty close to estimated time.Add in about an hour for lunch, gas, and photo ops and I think 7.5 hrs total should be close. Proposed Route #1 http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=106296942513718059373.00048f1fbe9def8d4bfc9&ll=41.81892,-74.189644&spn=0.080341,0.181789&z=13 Option #2 is about an hour from the city and would take about 5hrs with lunch,if anyone had to bail early,we would never be farther than a half hour from the Palisades or Taconic Parkway. Proposed Route #2 http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=106296942513718059373.00048fa3a857243b13d7e&ll=41.434683,-73.790016&spn=0.040411,0.090895&z=14 Post up if your possible, probable or definite, which route you prefer, what time you want to be back. Michael
  9. A couple cosmetic issues, but 5500.00 for a Norge? Anyone nearby that could scout it out for the forum? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-Moto-Guzzi-Norge-1200-GT-/300464150215?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item45f50f16c7
  10. Using a grinding head, cut through the inner ring it'll fall apart relatively easy I use a wooden dowel the size of the bearing to drive it in, about a half dollar invested for both
  11. Someone suggested a dremel and I tried it on the rear bearings and it took about 2 minutes to get both out.
  12. Awesome Shaun, Whadda test ride. You went through what I think is the finest area east of the Mississippi to ride, the Southern Appalachian's,too bad you couldn't explore more.I find 10 days there and back from NYC gives you a nice sampler of beautiful roads and sights. I would second the thoughts on the MPH risers ( I have em),want to replace the footpegs/controls,lotta good reviews from our members. Also Rich Maud will re-do your seat and makes it much more comfortable. I would post in the tech section with any mechanical issues as it will get our engineering capable members eyes on it.Hopefully just a battery. Once you get her sorted hopefully you can come down to the Catskills,Adirondacks,or New England, for some rides! Congrats, Michael
  13. Weather permitting I am definitely a game. I might cut out a bit earlier but if we get together by about 10-10:30 am then 150 miles should take about no more then 3 hours and that would put us around 3 pm. I would prefer to get the loop set up so we end up close to a starting point or as close to Bear mountain as possible. Its only another 1-1:30 to get back to Brooklyn. If we get evn earlier that would be nice and I can make it home by no later then 5pm. I pretty much used my Guzzi exclusively for the last 1.5 months and I am in the Bear mountain region every Sunday for the last 1.5 months I would be happy to meet new people Hi Vlad, Good to see she's been treating you good. Hope you can make it. We won't be able to run 150-200 miles in 3 hours. You would have to run 50mph with no stops for 3 hrs to do that.We would be running mostly twisty stuff. With stops and average speed we would probably average 25 mph and believe me the pace would be fun,but add in a lunch and I think 8hrs is reasonable. I'll send out some PM's today in case some of the locals have missed the thread and once we have a head count and every one voices what they want and times they have to be home, I'll propose a route.I'll start working on some Google maps routes when I get some downtime later today at work. Keep in mind I'm an hour north of Bear Mountain,so if you rode up and back and a 6+ route you'd be looking at 10+ hour day.Not a problem for me,but I know that's not for everyone. Not to worry,I'll come up with something that I think will put a smile on all's face. And the offer to crash at my place on Sat is open to all.Makes it a lot easier not starting the day with a 2 hour slab ride. Michael
  14. Not me Pete,I'm about a 100+ miles sounth down the Hudson. I think my friend Mark with a black Eldo met you at the rally.Unfourtunately I had to work that weekend. If your ever in the area again you'll always have an offer of beer, barbie,or bed,.. PS did you sell the Scura?
  15. Ya Chris it's a shame that the Beemer crowd embarrasses our group by how many gatherings they do all around the country.A V11 specific group,(but any would be welcome in my eyes),would be a very cool thing, as I don't know if there's been one in the Northeast.Being able to pull off one as an annual event, especially during fall with a color show unique to the area and perfect riding temps could be special. Hey if we can pull 2-3 guys together,I would consider that a success. Hoping Hal,JRT,Tomm, ryland, falconlion, guzzimoto, aermacchi among others will be able to make it,,...
  16. Thanks Skeeve, that makes total sense. Michael
  17. Hi Ed, I'll adjust route and meet time when we get a final head count.Meet at one of the exits of the Thurway or motel,I have a few suggestions, if anyone stays up on Saturday night.i have to work on Saturday but will back back about 6pm so i could meet for dinner if anyone comes up early. Hope you can make it, Michael This place is great, stone's throw fron NYST ,killer steak ,multiple brews made on site ,and you can crawl back to the room, http://www.skytop.moonfruit.com/
  18. Tried this before but work and weather have thwarted previous attempts. I am off on Sunday September 12th and would like to host a get together and ride in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley Region. The plan would be to get together early on Sunday morning ,8-9 ish, do a 150-200 mile ride, almost all twisties, lunch midday and get back to the Thurway(probably exit 18 Kingston) about 5-6 pm so anyone coming from a 50-100 mile distance can get home by 7-8 ish. Anyone who can come up Saturday night, we can meet up have dinner look over maps and tell lies. Many affordable motels in the area and if it worked out to be less than a 3-4 people you could stay at my house,in Accord NY,about 20 mins from New Paltz. I would still like to do a Foliage Weekend but am usually busy in October but this would be a good test to see if we could pull it off, maybe mid October, peak leaf colors,if it works out. Michael
  19. That's what I'm thinkin, but always like opinions of those who know more than me.
  20. ***Update** Went to the local NAPA store and found the flasher unit. Flashes now seem normal at idle about 1 PS,still speed up slightly as revs get about 2k+ but no where near as fast as before. Is this normal, should the flashing slightly increase? Thanks for the help, Michael
  21. Roy where is the ground point for the rear lamps? Is that the one near the seat release? Raz I checked volts and got 12.7 cold 13.6 idle 14.8 3K I assume these are within range, didn't see the desirable volts in the shop manual, didn't understand that chart in there. gstallions I assume the lamps shouldn't be on all the time (running lamps),they are not. They flash ,what I would say is a normal brightness, just fast and faster as the revs go up,to the point of being solid by 4K. Roy the symptoms are the same with me on or off the bike. MG cycle doesn't list the flasher unit.Is it something that can be obtained from an auto parts store? How much should the MG part be? Thanks for all the help and suggestions Michael
  22. I would agree that the Duc will give you a nice balance of soul and reliability.Much larger dealer network, and they still made the bike up to 2? years ago.V11 hasn't been available in the US for 6 years,5 in Europe.Parts and dealers are getting scarcer as the years wear on,although Piaggio claims that service and parts will be #1 goal for the future .Ah,we'll see,... Also own several Hondas and love my 80k ST1100 ,X-country,2-3k trips, two up ,no problemo and never broken down. Many think it's soulless but the quiet exhaust fools many.Tons o grunt of a 1100 transverse, shaft drive bike, sound familiar? If you want something that will be a blast to ride for backroad blasting, short trips, day, overnight, with occasional stints of downtime in your garage trying to figure out MG wiring, waiting on parts,or fixing Grappa induced Mandello engineering, then the V11 is for you!
  23. Ya I was thinking that the regulator may be suspect because of the change with revs. Roy I'm using stock lamps, and to clarify the lights flash faster, not brighter, well at least not unusually brighter. Thanks,I'll check volts and contacts on Monday,...
  24. I noticed a while back that my turn signals seemed to flash fast, about 3-4 flashes per second.Never noticed it before, and no one locally has a V11 so don't know if that's normal or not.No filaments out.Anyone care to check theirs and see how many FPS's they have? Last couple of rides the speed of the flashes coincides with the revs.Once you get over 4K it's just a solid light on the dash and flasher. Any ideas of what's causing this and what I can check. Please keep in mind that I'm clueless in the electrical department,(ok most departments)so don't be afraid of talking slooowly when explainin',.. Thanks, MZ PS After removing tranny cover recently, neutral light was staying on in all gears a few days ago.after bike warmed up.Checked and tightened external connector to switch and seemed to be fine today other than a couple times in neutral it didn't light up .Don't know if they're related. All other lights seem to be normal.
  25. Why did mine look like this when I opened it up? No fluid on gears like Gary's,fluid was in window before I changed it,..
