  1. Hi Matt, Sorry to hear that your still having problems, I did #2 and #5 and having taken her out for 3 rides while adjusting the eccentric adjuster each time and it seems better, took it out today and it missed a coupla shifts after bike was well warmed up.Much better than before but not perfect yet, maybe me being sloppy, still have to change clutch fluid, maybe that will help. Unfortunately neutral light glowed for after biked warmed up yesterday and today,ugh,..
  2. I guess I should phrase it as ,I would be wiling to trade use of the bike for some garage space,.... Skeeve it is essentially a naked CBR 900 with budget suspension that works just fine for me.Comfortable enough to ride all day, tour(I bought it in GA and rode it the long way home to NYC,no problems) commute,whatever,...It is completely stock other than adjustable bars, and quick release luggage mounts. It's also in perfect condition.Great all-around bike, very under-appreciated by the masses! The VFR and Scura get more ride time http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_0204_honda_919_road_test/index.html
  3. Been dreaming of this for years,..Here's the idea,... I have a 2002 mint CB919 that I love but because of multiple bikes I don't ride it as much as I would like to.It's outfitted with Givi's,Convertabars, flyscreen.Nice smooth 100hp naked.Looks a little like my Scura.I go to the West coast a few times a year for work and would love to have a bike out there to go touring with.I would be willing to trade garage space for use of it if you had a friend in town, bike down for repairs,etc,...I would register and insure it,we would split maintenance costs depending on how much you use it. I would lean towards northern cal but LA has more roads than I could possibly ride in a lifetime of visits. Anyone interested?
  4. If you like this stuff, the album he did with Jools Holland rocks the roof off. I wanted to see him in July at Bethel Woods (the original Woodstock site) but he canceled, very bummed. His voice sounds better than ever.
  5. Hi Matt, I didn't loctite that pin, just made sure that it was snug.May be a good idea to loctite it. Docc explains how to adjust the eccentric adjuster to me the best way here, http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15818&st=0&p=171149&fromsearch=1entry171149 Let us know if you have any luck,I can't get to mine for a couple days,...
  6. Hi Matt, I have been experiencing the same symptoms and downshifts were missing also.Changed fluid, did cover spring inspection and disassembled and lubed shift linkage.Took it out for a test ride and all was well, but after bike warmed up I started missing upshifts.Thinking adjusting the eccentric adjuster under acorn nut may help, gonna try that this week.I'm also gonna check lever position as Greg suggested. I also addressed the roller pin a couple of weeks ago in a similar thread, http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15984 You can see the rolled pin at the left of the picture, Michael
  7. Yup, I'd buy a LQ'ed MGS-01 type Guzz. It's really what I want.A slightly rough around the edges V-twin,comfy to ride for a day, less ,albiet slightly more complicated maintenance(no problem for me)and real world power 100hp+.Ala Monster/Duc Classic/RVS.They could offer a Air-cooled and LQ models.problem solved. Dealer support and reliability would be things that ive always required from my bikes but lack on my Guzzi. If not for the fun factor of riding the V11(when it's not down) ,it wouldn't be in my garage.
  8. I think Ben gave a pretty good ,quick overview which I would agree with. I bought a Scura and think it's great, but the possibility of the clutch blowing up ,pisses me off. Some say don't worry about it,don't know if any US Scuras have blown. I would definalty go for the Ohlins equipped models, best handling bike Ive ridden.Rosso Corso,Nero Corso,Cafe Sport,Coppa Italia,Scura.I think the Nero is the best looking of all of them. Currently a red frame 2000 on Ebay, see em going all the time for 4-4500 range. Before you buy anything,do a search in the tech section, and you'll see if your model if not your paticular bike, has had any problems. There are many small, annoying or bigger problems thoughout the years range, but most are fixable and some have said they have had no problems. Good luck and have fun with your new Guzzi.just don't expect to go out and not get compliments on your new ride as they tend to attract that,....
  9. Got it back together and took it for a run down my dirt road, couldn't get up to speed because I didn't have riding gear on but seemed good with slicker shifting.I'll give it a proper run later in the week. Note on fluid amounts as has been discussed before both boxes wouldn't take spec amounts.Think I got about 325cc' in the rear before it started to dribble out the view hole and 720cc for the front and went to the top of the window.I'll check levels after I get her up to temp and see if she overflows and siphon off if I have to. Still haven't bleed clutch fluid but that will have to wait to next week. Michael
  10. Got cover back on and couldn't get her to shift.Took it off re-assembled and was able to get her to shift up/down albeit a little stiff but equate that to just having shifter collar on external shaft to check movement.Once I get linkage back on with some adjustments I'm hoping all will be well. Coupla things though.Your selector wheels are different than mine.Mine have teeth all the way around the wheel.Mine are also pretty much solid in that channel on top of the wheel whereas yours has some gaps in there.Maybe US/Euro difference? I also have the factory indents but they don't line up in neutral,I think that photo was in 1st position. With the bottom wheel positioned with it's neutral indent and neutral sensor lined up the dot on top of the wheel is slightly off to the left as is the top wheel. Normal?
  11. It is a rolled pin.I tried to put it in that hole by hand but didn't have enough clearance but very close.Looks like it may need a little tap to get it in.Defiantly not one of the selector wheel rollers, way too big. Any thoughts on greasing the linkage shaft?Felt like it a had grease on it at one time but was awfully tacky to the touch when disassembling. Thanks for all suggestions.
  12. Thinkin yer right docc, missed that looking at that very diagram earlier, Thanks !
  13. Anybody know what this is? Found it at the bottom of the tranny after removing cover.Could it be from the cover assembly,or elsewhere? Good news is that fluid looked healthy,PO must have changed it when replacing pawl spring.Spring and internals looked good and felt tight. The shift linkage shaft/axle that goes through the pork chop was awfully dry, assuming that should have a good coat of grease on it? Also any suggestions or tips re-resembling selector wheels ,et all would be appreciated.Think I got it but wouldn't mind anyone's 2cents before I close it up . Thanks, Michael
  14. Mine was stuck when I bought it used and within a year or two it un-freeded itself for no apparent reason. You may want to detach it at the TB's and try some cable lube on both ends before taking it apart. Do you know about the spring swap?

What about MPH bars? I have a Throttlemeister set on but don't like how they activate, want to go with a Vista Cruise as I have them on all my other bikes and find that they are easier to use.

    Guzzichondria

I used to insert "Harley" into this limerick. Now it applies to our beloved brand, Buy a Guzzi ,buy the best.Ride a mile push the rest! Hey you could be like a character in a Bill Forsyth movie.Go into the village at midnight, there's Cola pushing his Guzzi.First break of dawn, there's Cola,a drive thru the moors in a downpour, yup there's Cola, you get the picture,.. Agree with mikie gota have another reliable bike that doesn't require "owner involvement ",if you like to ride a lot.If I didn't I wouldn't ride half as much as I would like to,because of various ailments.I theorize that most of our members are too old or aren't allowed to ride regularly by they're better halves so don't mind a little downtime now and again, Ha,ha,..
  17. Can't agree more.We pay exotic level prices for these bikes and get budget bike or less quality and support from MG.Many problems have safety concerns, inexcusable ! We've lost several good dealers in the last few years and I don't think Guzzi could blame anyone but themselves,a real shame. The bikes are a blast to drive but if they sit in the garage what good are they, especially 12-15K 2002 prices.I love to tinker and do maintenance,I hate to fix bad design flaws(at my cost!) and the indifference from Mama Guzzi drives me nuts!
  18. Hi Vlad, I'm doing my first change this week or next.Just got 2 quarts of Redline SP.That should be plenty for front and back with some left over. Some have said what the manual calls for ,and what the boxes hold, can be different amounts,so be careful not to over/under fill. They're are several posts about theories about how much to put in ,you may want to do a search ,here's one of the recent one's that I saw, http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15872 Also someone suggested putting mineral spirits in the box after draining, let them sit overnight and then draining the solution before filling.Should get most of the gunk out. I am also combining lubing the shaft, examining the pawl spring and lube shift linkage(shifting has been bad lately) while the box is empty. Michael
  19. Tom I had similar symptoms(struggled to start) and ordered a new battery. While waiting for the battery many suggested that the starter may be a problem so I opened her up and found a bunch of gunk on the the plunger in the solenoid.Cleaned her up and no problems starting and new battery still sits on shelf and year and a half later.I have to pull the starter to access the pawl spring this week so may be time to clean her up,...
  20. Been missing shifts mostly downshifts from 3-2,2-1 but also upshifts for a while now. PO had replaced pawl spring,I tried adjusting the adjusting shaft under the acorn nut to no avail. Now that Redline SP and new Pawl springs should be here soon I figured I should open her up whilst the gearbox is empty.Other than anything obvious, what should I be looking for that will cause these symptoms.I have looked at the external linkage and nothing looks out of place.I am aware of having to cut dowm a hex wrench to access one hexscrew (not the first one Ive had to do,due to Luigi engineering)Shop manual offers no help,... Thanks, michael
  21. I think I heated mine up with a hair dryer,just don't melt em!
  22. Hi leon This is common.7 years is pretty good for the V11.If the cracks get larger the A/F mixture will be upset and will make the bike act like an unbroken pony. You can get them from MG Cycle or Moto International.I would recommend replacing both. 23. Ooh ,How bout a half-faired ,semi-comfortable, hard luggage,MGS/Monster/RSV type hybrid. From the research Ive done on various forums the Aprilia's seem to be on the level of modern Ducs a far as quality and performance(not perfect but good).Something Guzzi has been behind the curve on for sometime now. Gimmie,.......
  24. Hi Guys thanks for the advice,I'll take a look at her tomorrow. Docc I don't know if there is a fuse, relay,or ground on it as the PO installed it.I'll find out tomorrow.
  25. My Fiamm horns are usually loud enough to wake the dead, but recently while driving by a friends shop I hit them and thought they sounded weak.Chalked it up to being up to speed, earplugs in.Went to get an inspection sticker a couple of days later and hey weren't working but you could hear something being engaged down by the horns when you hit the button.Later that day they started to work again but weak, like holding a pillow over them.Blew some electrical cleaner into the button and it's contacts but no change. How could I test to see if I have correct volts to horns? Thanks, Michael
