  1. **Update** I tried adjusting the adjuster but didn't find much of a difference ,still hitting false neutrals on downshifts. It seems like I'll have to take her apart and inspect and lube the linkage and look/see the pawl spring.Clutch and gear juice is overdue for a flush so hoping a combination of those will improve things, Keepya posted,,, Thanks Docc
  2. Thanks Docc, Best explanation Ive seen yet,I'll be getting in her next week.
  3. Hi QMan, Have had notchy shifting since I've owned mine, pawl spring was replaced by previous owner but have similar symptoms as you.One thing I would recommend is pull in clutch and upshift if you miss a gear so you don't lock up.Here's some links to threads addressing shifting/pawl spring issues, http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15638 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14882&st=0 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14993&st=0&p=162138&hl=transmission&fromsearch=1entry162138 I'll be doing mine soon, have to order Redline shockproof then open her up.Keep us posted on your progress,...
  4. Hi Woody, Glad you caught bearings before an incident occurred! Here's my topic from a while back when mine went kaput.Believe I used a grinder on one side to cut through the bearing housing and had everything out in a couple of minutes.Be careful using Craftsman Hex wrenches to remove the cush drive cover, very easy to strip! Good luck, Michael http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13294&st=0&p=144852&hl=bearings&fromsearch=1entry144852
  5. Hey Lemmy, I lust for a Mandello, one of the prettier V11's in my opinion.Hope you can get your paws on one. For your needs, I would say the V11 is not your best buy. With your criteria in mind, Commuter-reliable,wind,rain,cold protection, hard bags Trips-long range comfort, for 2,reliability Price-value I think the Honda ST1100(Pan European to you)would fill all your needs. I own one with nearly 90k miles with no problems. Low maintenance, shaft drive, great wind protection, transverse mounted V motor with tons of grunt and comfort for two.A lot of people are intimidated by it's size but as soon as you start rolling it's very nimble.I live in NYC and it's no problem to zip in and out of traffic but stable and lush on the highway. Here ,they go for about 3k $ and up for clean ,mid mileage example. So a great value, very easy to get parts and won't clean out your wallet!Basically a BMW type sports tourer at a fraction of the cost. Good luck, hope to see you back here with a V11 and an ST1100,...Oh and yes Lemmy is God ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLkPuu2PAzM
  6. Good stuff Charles can we see a mid and high rev drive by video? Thanks, Michael
  7. I usually have a sixth sense for good stuff without recommendations, but if your not as adventurous ,this is an awesome site, used it several times to refer to on trips, http://www.motorcycleroads.us/
  8. As I said in the original post the final logo must be approved by Jaap before we can make a sample. That is still ongoing. When that happens I will post a picture. But for the imaginative, picture a tee shirt or fleece with the current logo. In the redundant redundancy department,I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE OR EXPECT TO MAKE A PROFIT.I won't do it if I,or the members feel that it is cost prohibitive. Now that some numbers are coming in I'll have an idea of how many of us are interested.I'll wait a week or two, by then most active members will have seen the thread and post their desires,.. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://thecreme.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/heather_graham_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://thecreme.wordpress.com/2008/08/26/snap-flash/&usg=__GVoBYS-vmD8ehjDT3OqL-AKN5VM=&h=768&w=1024&sz=93&hl=en&start=16&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=Br-sqtzrPp5JYM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dheather%2Bgrahm%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26tbs%3Disch:1 Uh I mean preferences,..
  9. It's has been a little dull around here while waiting for our new V11 model,so I figured I could breathe a little life into our forum with some brand pride by making up some V11 swag. I have a friend who has made apparel for TV networks for years and does great work. To get an exact price,I need to put out feelers to see how many would be interested .I would only ask for the price of the garment, handling + shipping and wouldn't expect a profit. So far my inquires to him for 1 piece of each would be, @$20 for a SS Tee shirt, silkscreened small logo on breast and larger back logo. @$25 for a long sleeved TS "" @40 for a pullover fleece with a small embroidered logo on breast. Color options would probably Black or Italian red I'm not asking anyone to commit to a purchase just get a general head count so I can give the manufacturer a quantity to get a real price. Please let me know size, color, item preference, Once the new final logo has been decided I could then put in an order. Thanks, Michael (Michael, I edited the topic title a bit. Not everyone knows what Swag means)
  10. Ha,ha,..After coming from a V11,I might not be able to handle the step-up in power to a Z50! Doesn't look like I'll be able to get out of town ,no car and no time off. Can't wait to ride up here though, been wanting to for years.Have a buddy in Seattle who just bought a second bike ,so I might have a West Coast ride. BC 2010 tour !
  11. Thanks for all the great info guys.I'll be defiantly checking out your suggestions.I'm a sucker for hot food Monkey so you nailed it.10.0!For Indian, I heard Vig's Rangoli was good ,true? Thanks, Michael
  12. I'm working in the downtown area till early March for the Olympic broadcasts.Won't have a lot of downtime but should have evenings off get dinner, check emails, take Jim's MGS out for an un-authorized joy ride, and try to get 6-7hrs sleep.(ya TV's real glamorous,"Caaarny's,circus folk, small feet, smell like cabbage". I was there in the spring for a week and have a few contacts, but am always open to suggestions from locals, Thanks, Michael

    Surrogates!

I was watching some movie recently and there was a chase scene with BMW police R 's and they overlayed I4's to the sound track,..weeeak. If you watch the Star Wars movie,I think it's the Phantom Menace, with the Pod racer scene, the exhaust are F1 cars.Probably Monte Carlo as you can hear the echo and reverb from the buidings in the town and the tunnel, cool! PS What's Surrogates?
  14. I had the same symptoms and wondered what the Big Plastic Knob did,so I started to adjust it either way.Uh....,don't do that. It's your TB balance knob. After adjusting it without any knowledge of what I was doing,I totally screwed up the bikes tuning.Turned out to be a leak in one of the TB boots.Very common problem and easy to overlook. the good news is I learned how to tune my bike. Here's a link many use to set up fueling, http://www.obairlann.net/reaper/motorcycle...zi/balance.html. You will also need/should adjust TPS , http://www.guzzitech.com/EVTuneup-Jeff_B.html I'm not at home and I don't have my notes so don't want to give you bad info from memory, but these articles are a good place to start.I'm sure guys more knowledgeable than me will chime in,but give the links a looksee and see what you think,, Michael
  15. Nice find Slavomir Hmm,sounds like a design flaw to me.unless we drive into a pond ,our bikes should be able to withstand a downpour indefinitely.I'll have to look at mine, as a few drain holes drilled under the fusebox may be in order
  16. I found EB on a Google search.I have yet to do the mod,on my "To Do" list. Also the owner, can't remember his name,is a really good guy.I emailed him with a coupla questions and he was very helpful .I think he's a Yank living in Japan. He has a fusebox that looks sweet.Should be a good addition if you want to clean up the battery mess and add any farkles. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products.../PC-8/pc-8.html Second Dan's thought, still may not be the cause of your problems Tom,but wouldn't hurt to do it and you'll get more light output. Michael
  17. If you don't want to make your own, Eastern Beaver makes a kit for the headlight mod. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products...ts/h4_kits.html
  18. Wahoo Glad to see yer on the road again Vuzzi. I didn't think removing a light coat of grime on the solenoid would solve my problem either, but a year + later and the original battery starts with no problems and the new Hawker sits on the shelf.
  19. Since doing a full tune-up last year, haven't done much to the old girl since, other than changing the oil. She's due for some maintenance and upgrade mods that should have been done last off-season. 1)Pawl spring(Shifting's been nothchy) 2)Bevel box-gear box fluid change 3)Front wheel bearings 4)Steering head bearings 5)Brake and clutch fluids replaced 6)Headlight relay mod 7)PC3 8)Mistral X-over pipe 9) Replace Throttlemeister with Vista Cruise and Manic Salamander bar ends. 10)Have custom made quick release luggage rack for Givis fabricated by local welder 11)Install heated grips 12)Install oil pressure and volt analog gauges 13)Replace cracked headlight bucket 14)Replace various screws and fasteners that have come loose 15)MG Carbon Fiber rear mud guard (Anyone got one?) 16)Replace mirrors with BMW Rockster mirrors PS Oh Yeah, not that it's important, 17)Haven't replaced fragile Scura clutch yet (Stoopid Guzzi) 18)Lube throttle cables 19)Various sweats and leaks 20)CF Alt cover 21)Airbox mod I'm sure I'll think of something else,..... And so on,..... What have you been putting off, wishing to do?
  20. Been thinking about starting a thread on this very subject as it's seemed quiet for months now. Most of us are in the Northern hemisphere ,so the riding season is all but over,so that may have something to do with the peace.Snowed here in the Catskills yesterday and they're predicting more this week.Glad I got the Scura out on Thurs for the afternoon.Wish I had a garage so I could get to all the projects I have waiting for several of my bikes (a whole nuther thread). Think Bfast hit it on the head, with no new V11 since ' 00 here ,a lot of things been sorted and the excitement of our new toys wears off with time. The rumors and the release of a new model would do wonders to picking up the pace here. I for one don't mind the lack of,bickering, personal attacks, stupid racist or sexist comments.Maybe we have learned to "all get along"...,,ah ya ,right ! Hope everyone has a safe holiday season
  21. Vuzzi,May not be your problem, but I solved my symptoms by CLEANING my solenoid. Just be careful not to ground neg wire from battery to ECU when removing it.that's what fried my original solenoid when replacing original ECU to MG Ti ECU. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...c=13958&hl=

    20K issues

Hi Hal, I'm sure your aware of the failure of the stock Ohlins seals.Seems like a lot of people have replaced theirs because of leaks.Very susceptible to dust getting in there and making the seal fail.Mine was redone by PO with no problems since but I'm about 1500 miles short of yours.Shifting been noticeably knotchy this season, figures to be pawl spring but PO had done that also. Michael
  23. I'll take a stab at that,....We would probably be eating out of their hands. Don't know of anyone who has seen the MGS and said they don't like the way it looks. Like the Supreme Court judge that said,I'll paraphrase,"I don't know how to define pornography but I'll know it when I see it" Same with beauty or a beautiful motorcycle, you know it when it's right. Yes we all want updated, more reliable, higher quality and beautiful to look at motorcycles.I like what their doing here they just have to give it a cleaner look.It looks like an unfinished high school science project.
  24. Very nice.Doesn't have the beautiful lines of the MGS, more Z1000 than Italian bodywork ,but very nice. A radiator next to the rear wheel and the debris it kicks up is asking for trouble, My guess is it'll be 30K+ US$.Might as well buy an MGS in that price range
  25. Here ya go docc, Also more info,.. http://www.motorcycle.com/news/eicma-2009-...epts-88934.html
