  1. Ya I hear ya WCB,similar to the harley cult, but the thing I'm most concerned with is performance and quality. Some of the trim and detail stuff on the Ducks was a little shoddy, but from all reports they are much more reliable than early 90's Ducks. Mike the 848 is like,uh,umm let me see,,.... Do you remember the first time you had sex?,......... Well,it's like the second time, now your sure you like it and you want to go back for more,.... it feels and has a lot more torque than the V11,excellent progressive feel brakes, taunt but not harsh suspension, light clutch feel, and a very committed sport position,I could maybe do 100 mile+ days, but for me that would be easy to do on all twisty stuff,no lights or traffic here in the Catskills, Michael
  2. WOW! Dealer let me take a 1098,848,Monster,and Sport Classic out for a ride today, and all I can say is ,.....WOW! They had very few miles and it was in the low 40's so couldn't hit it hard but was very impressed.Torque on all were very impressive, especially 1098 and monster. They both had Termi's,Hi flow filters and were a blast. The Monster was very comfortable ,more so than a V11,not a lot,but much more neutral position. The Sport was a little closer to a stock V11. I never though twice about Monsters but came away impressed.I also like the fact that they and the SC's are similar in looks to the V11.The excuse from Guzzi that they are small and can't compete is getting old.Ducati was about the same size in the 70's and 80's and they re-invested their money into racing and R & D and it is paying off big! I'm gonna give Guzzi a year or two and if they can't come up with a MODERN,classic looking bike ,I may have to look elsewhere......
  3. Never hard to get an opinion from Antonio,.......TILL NOW!
  4. The greatest motorcycle ever produced is pronounced "Moe Toe GOOT Ha,Ha,..Nice,....Dez moe say DEEchee sounds the same to me as to how Jaap and I are saying it.
  5. That's what I think, but a knowitall friend, who speaks a little Italian, not much more than me,says it's pronounced,"C-dee-C" I am not a numbers guy,but they are jaw-dropping on this bike. There is one at a dealership in New jersey and it doesn't get me all hotnbothered bye looks like the 916 did,but it is a REAL race bike for the street,a NR 750 on Steroids! Just to clarify, My friend says "Dezmo-see-D-see"
  6. Who KNOWS how to pronounce the greatest street bike ever produced?

    Days Away!

Hi Nancy, Congrats! Yes they are like Italian women,in need of attention, but well worth it! Most of the guys here swear by this battery.I'll be changing mine to this when she dies.http://www.portablepower.com/items/batteries/SLA/1/Hawker%20Odyssey/PC545/0770-2019/SL141/37L141S5 I had the same question about noises when I got the Scura. It has a single plate clutch that rattles a lot at idle. The rubber stuff is a weak point on most Guzzi's would be worth checking all of them when you get a chance, also replace all fluids(Brake, clutch, final drive, oil)if the previous owner hasn't done it recently. When your ready, let us know as there's a lot of resources here for parts.I did my first full service, last year and after a lot of questions, found it relatively easy. Good luck!

    Days Away!

Hi Nancy I too have a VTEC,and hope you love to ride yer new ride as much as I do .A completely different animal than our beloved VFR's but very satisfying.Just be prepared to answer a lot of questions and complements when you pull over.do you hang out at the VFRD? Michael
  10. These guys know how to sex-up old Guzzis,... http://www.cyclegarden.com/guzzi_girls.php
  11. Hey Guys, Just got these ,at a great price.Very well made, quick shipping.I'm a stickler for high quality gear.... Got em here.... http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/pro...?idCategory=107
  12. I have a set of these http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Heated...it-p-16539.html, on my VFR and think their the bee's knees. You can put any grip over them and add a switch with a LED for under $50 clams
  13. Check these out, maybe our best options for a new bike from Piaggio? I want a half-faired roadster version of the V-4.
  14. I beat up a couple of kids and a granny once! Don't laugh, that granny was one tough hombre,...
  15. Hi Jim, When you say that it loses power at 4500,do you mean that it's pinging?Kinda like a rev-limiter with a smooth rattling sound? Another vote for the Twinmax.Should make balancing easier. I too had to be talked through my first tune-up,mostly by RH,and it is a trial and error thing.Took me about 3 balances to get it close.Still have pinging under hard throttle but runs sweet everywhere else. Hoping a RacerX PC3,mistral x-over,dyno-solutions dyno run this year will get er purrrfect! Michael
  16. I dont know what you mean.I keep all my posts to the point,
  17. Yup that was me,the drummer in Unattached,Ralph's was a fun place.Don't remember your wife, but those years were a bit of a blurr, you know what I mean,..we must have met if you came to Ralph's and the Rat shows during that period.Simon Ritt our bass player from about 86-89 palyed with Johnny a few times and his band opened up for him many times, Walter never mentioned playing during live shows. That may be one of those folk Lures,ha,ha.It was hard to get war stories out of him as he thought that whole period of drug taking and general debauchery was silly. He's pretty much a renaissance kinda guy. Small world,....
  18. Hey Jack, Played the Rat countless times,as that is where I'm from.Grew up in Worcester, lived in Boston for several years then went to NY.Used to park my first street bike a VF 700 Magna, on the sidewalk outside the Rat all the time. Walter's been a stockbroker for about 30 years, may have been during the Heartbreaker years also.I know him and played several times with his band the Waldos in NY.A lot of fun ,a great guitar player, with amazing stories. Little known fact is that he played a lot of the guitar parts on the 80's Ramone's records. The dude should write a book. The guys of that era made Aerosmith, and this is from one of their biggest fan, look like choir boys!
  19. Ya,we were all in the NYC club-rock circles in the 80's-90's. Knew, met and played with a lot of the older punk guys of the 70's.Johnny,Walter Lure and Jerrry Nolan were just a few of them. Wish I was around from 75-80,quite a fun scene I'm sure.Bebe is one of those people, and has many stories to tell, haven't read the book but will check it out.Love the Dolls,Ramones,Blondie,Mink DeVille,David Johanson,Heartbreakers a great time for R & R.
  20. Hi belfastguzzi, Added photo, what is the Buell club mag?For the bike or the woman?
  21. I was going through the gallery section and found this photo.Thought it was humorous , as I played on it ,and didn't think any one knew about it.
  22. Wow Pete this sucks. Pete if I had done what you did and didn't get reimbersed ,I certainly wouldn't be as magnanimous as you are .I'd be yelling from the highest mountain, with a mega-phone,on fire to stay away from this,er ah,..person , and not do business with him. Unfortunately as Americans, most of us dont know or care to know where Australia is,don't realize how long of a plane ride is,and how expensive a ticket cost. Not to mention the lay out of parts and time, this is a terrible situation.I think most of us are sympathetic, and feel for ya. The karma gods will make things right again. PS I'll be putting a Plate on in the spring.
  23. Aprillia, unfortunately may be our best option. You get a sexy Italian V-Twin that's more comfortable and streetable than a 1098,better build quality than a V11.Iv'e never liked the lines of Aprillia bikes(very square),dont have the nice curves of the V11 or 80'2,90's Ducs,but,.....Ive seen a lot of Factory RSV,s(Ohlins,Brembo,Race can/ecu,Oz wheels, lota carboni)comfortable, for a sportbike, position, and 120HP's, and no multitude of desighn problems that have plauged our v11's,on Ebay. Clean low mileage, late models in the 10-12k range, and standard RSV's for7-9k.Dont sound too bad either,...
  24. Have you guys seen the article in UK's PB mag this month on a MGS street conversion?Very cool. Mr M was his name. One of us? Why is it taking so long for Guzzi to give us a hot street bike?(rhetorical)It dosen't have to be a Ducati beater, just fun, sexy, and at least 100hp ferchristsake!Very modest in a world of 170hp,sub 400lbs bikes.
