Hi Ryland, Sorry you couldn't make.I know it was last minuet but i should have been doin stuff around house and saw weather report and decided to go for it.It was great,not many cars,and found a couple of roads I hadn't been on before.I actually went down south,not far from you.Swan lake,17b,97,Roscoe,Pepacton.Nice little loop.It would be a good area to meet cause it's about equal distance from both of us.I used to do the Harriman,greenwood lake area a lot before I bought this house up here.I know TBR like the back of my hand.ill let cha know next time I'm going out.maybe next week. Unfortunately we all don't have dealers such as MI or MPH,both who I patronize through mail order,who will do the quality of work of shops such as these.I am also a follower of buying quality over price,but because I own several bikes and ride high mileage/agressively, I burn through a fair amount of rubber trees.I dont have a lot of spare cash so saving a couple o hundred dollars a year would be welcome.My dealer makes a lot of money off me from parts/access/service so I'm not ready to start playing a tiny violin for them yet.I also try to support mom and pop shops locally and wherever I travel ,as feel they are the backbone of our local economies and try to avoid the national chains as much as I can. Greg I would respect that your techs would prefer not to do tire changes as I'm a freelance audio tech and often do jobs for good loyal clients that I would prefer not to do ,and make less money on them,but because of the Big picture,I do most of them. I also don't suggest in the practice of "dickering" as I had worked in retail for many years and couldn't stand people who were like an attack dog latched on to your leg until you relented to the price they wanted to pay.What I am saying,is that I PROPOSE a business deal for a GOOD customer(ME) who spends a lot of money at local dealer.This happens every second of every day all over the world,one party says "is this fair?" the other party says yes or no.End of story.That is how I do business.I'm sure you've seen the other side of the coin countless times.I have fantisised about owning a dealership,then I wake up and come to my senses! The only reason I started the thread is the amount and regularity that I need tire service,and that it is something I can do at home with the proper equipment.Someone who does a tire change every 2-3 seasons ,it is not as much of an issue.

I wish I had one of those type of small ,independent shops near me but no dice.It's either get a fair deal from local dealer or doitmeself!I really would prefer the former.

Just to clarify,in case someone misinterprets my post.I'm trying to give my local dealer business,I just want to pay,what i think is a fair price for parts.especially ones like tires that are easily available at a discount.I understand that they have higher cost to run their business, so I take that into consideration when trying negotiate a price with the local shop.I just feel that list price on tires is unfair.Look a Tower Records.They didn't embrace online sales quickly enough and what was once the king of the retail music world,is greatly diminished with most of their flagship stores closed.All brick and mortor businesses have to adapt to the times. And RH, no offence taken but I'm pinchin' hundreds till I hit the lottery!

I have done my own changes in the past,with a special hand tool bead breaker.It wasn't a breeze but a big money saver.Last few years ,been busy with work so when I needed a change,I would have my local shop do it in NYC.Most of my bikes are in upstate New York,60 miles from the nearest Guzzi dealer.one that doesn't have a great service record and about 15 miles from a Honda dealership.My other 3 bikes are all Hondas. I have no problem giving the local shop my business,but have a problem paying labor for the change/balance but add that to near-list prices for the tires and NYS tax and rubbering 4 bikes gets very expensive.Ive seen changers advertised and thought this may be an option for me.This one is $1300.00 at a savings of say $200 per change it pays for itself in @ 6-7 changes,4-5 years.Ive also seen less expensive changers in the 6-$700 range which would make it a no-brainer if they do the job easily. http://www.eagleequip.com/Merchant2/mercha...8CFRssawodWgO6d I thought I would take the lowest price on the web,bring it to them,let them know that I'm thinking about buying my own changer.If they can match the best price and add say 15% to that,(they do have more overhead than a guy doing business in his bedroom),I'll give them my business.They make a little on the tires and they get their full labor rate.So with a least a set a year they'll make some money off of me.If they dont match it,I'll buy the changer and save a couple of hundred $ a year.

It's Fugly!Fat and Ugly!This may appeal to someone looking for a standard,maybe unfamiliar to Guzzi.But for me ,and I hope others this doesn't have that roadster ,sporty look of the V11's and past sports.I don't like the shape of the tank,the extra junk/cowls in front of it,the seat or the rear end. If they could take the sex appeal of the V7,Daytona,V11,and MG1-0s and marry them up with better electronics,more power,better QC ,they may have a world beater.maybe next year,...Riiiiiight

As a TV audio guy,finally a video where the sound is half decent!Sweet! The fairing helps reduce wind noise.A little trick we use in TV is to wrap a nylon stocking over the mic and then a foam windscreen over that.Give it a try next time ya shoot an onboard.

Hi Cdude, Sorry to hear about your problems.Hopefully you can resolve this directly with the dealer. I have been one,sometimes it feels like the only one,who has been a naysayer of the indifference we get from Guzzi and some of the dealers in general(they all cant be MI or MPH)with problems that are related to lack of QC or design flaws from the factory.For the price we pay for these beauties,there should be no excuses for any of the multitude of problems that have occurred with the V11,too numerous to mention.It should be "sorry sir,we'll fix it right away,at no cost to you".I have a Scura that has had several bikes flywheels let loose and explode.Luckily no one has been hurt yet,but should it be addressed only when someone gets killed?Guzzi has known about the problem for years and hasn't even acknowledged it. I just bought a VFR VTEC and it has had a history of electrical problems that Honda has recalled and fixed quickly,at no cost to the owner.Ive owned many Hondas with hundreds of thousands of miles with no problems. Though some of us have had no problems with our bikes,way too many of us have.Unfortunately this may turn off a lot of us faithful to the brand if Guzzi doesn't wake up and respond to us.

Hi CDude, Welcome to the forum. I've been here for about a year and the help from the members is immense. Did Wagner give you a warranty?I would think that a new bike should be covered.Tank suck seems to be a common problem here.mine was fine so i dont remember what the fix was,just punch it into the search engine and I'm sure you'll get a lot of info.I bought mine last year and a lot of the maladies had been addressed by the Prev owner.I agree with you that they shouldn't be as problematic as they are,QC is my #1 complaint as I come from a mostly Honda background with no problems.100's of k miles on them with nothing but normal maintenance.If Guzzi could get their act together they would rule the world as the bikes are sexy and a blast to drive. Sorry i couldn't be of more help but rest assured the calvalry is on the way!One of the KNOWLEDGEABLE members WILL chime in.

PS Dave I would also dump shaft/tranny fluid,Red Line shockproof is highly recommened on the site.
