Hi dlaing, Thanks for the help and advice. Nothing is loose.I never loosened any connectors, only attached the battery tender in the correct order but the tender alligator clip slipped off the pos post and touched the ECU power connection that is about and inch from the batt pos terminal. Why Guzzi wouldnt put a .20 Euro rubber boot on the ECU posts to prevent this from happening is beyond me! I do have the Tl ECU so I'll hold my breath and try putting that on CAREFULLY and see if that is the problem since that was where the contact happened.I planned to try the relays since those are a cheap replacement and seems like a good idea to have some spares. Obviously something burnt through somewhere in the system that is causing the 15amp Headlight fuse to blow when i try to start.I just don't know how and where to diagnose .There must be a logical order to test ,I just dont have the knowledge of the system to know where to start ! Thanks again,I'll let you know what I find out.

I agree that Guzzi should be shooting for the MGS-02 type bike ala the 1098 .Maybe not the all-out performance of the Duc, but in the ballpark, more comfortable,a shaft, lower maintenance, and ooh may be liquid cooled.21st century mechanics, classic Italian looks. Most people agree the MG01 is beautiful and the V11 is a great looking roadster in the classic Guzzi styling.Cant say thats true for the Black Breva .Some like it ,a lot don't.Although mechanically going in the right direction the styling isn't.And that is a big part of why a lot of Guzzi owners buy MGs because of their sexy-classic looks. Humm,A Guzzi Faith Hill is what I want,..Sexy,Fun,Reliable,I can dream cant I?

Just in case anyone who saw this and missed my post, still haven't found anything obvious.Looking for Electrical system diagnostic 101 help.EX"take this probe, put it here and check for this" type advice. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9961 Thanks,Michael!

Hi Gary How would I check the HL relay.I would assume pull it off, check for continuity or resistence, between posts. If so,which ones and does polarity matter ? Thanks, Michael

Hi Guys, Haven't been able to investigate further since post.going to look at it this weekend. some questions though, pasotibbs-I do have ignition lights, but as soon as I try to start the headlight fuse blows and idiot(me) lights go dead.Don't remember if it happens after I hit the start button or just a few seconds after turning the key on,check it this weekend. The contact was for a fraction of a second,no burning smell or smoke, all terminals were tight. How do I check the fuses with a multi meter, what am I looking for? Cliff what am I looking for when you say,"check to see if the wires are intact"Do you mean a wire that would have gotten so hot it would actually burn?.And where should I look? Dave thanks for the offer, but the bikes upstate unless you going up to ski(not far from Belleayre)its a little out of your way.Do want to hook up with you to show me tuneup procedures once I figure this problem out. Have I stumped Gary,Greg,et all?Lame attempt at male ego psychology . Thanks, Michael

No rides!! If potential buyer hurts themself, or worse someone else ,you could be sued!I let buyers take bike for a ride after I'm paid in full, cash or check that clears and give them an hour to check it out. Most legitmate buyers will agree to this. Also a V11 is not for a rookie or inexperienced rider.Unless you personally know their riding skills you may be taking a big chance. We all know stories of accidents of safe ,experienced riders,..stuff happens.Do you really want to hand your keys over to someone you don't know? Think twice my friend.

Hey guys,I went to put a battery tender on my 02 Scura now that it's finally gotten cold here in the northeast.Without the tender plugged in,the posiitve lead slipped off the battery and touched the ECU at the connector nearest the batt pos post.Looks like the power lead to the battery. It sparked and as I held my breath I tried to start it ,the idiot lights came on then a click and everything went dead.Checked the fuses and the 15 amp that has the headlight icon was blown.Tried replacing it a couple of times and kept doing the same thing. What's your best guess as to what I did?Blow the ECU,a relay, regulator or what. How do I trouble-shoot it.I dont have much knowledge or experience with electrical systems or Guzzis,so dont be afraid to talk sloowly to me.Before this problem there have been no electrical problems.I do have a Ti ECU which I haven't put on yet and didn't want to chance it till I got some feedback from you guys. Thanks!!, Michael

Bought a Scura a few months ago,and it is the best handling bike Ive owned. The suspension was tuned by a local shop which specializes in suspensions.Motors great, wish it had more on the low end,the 5k rush is awesome though. The Ram clutch goes for about $500.00 plus labor so figure that into the purchase price of the bike.If I had to do it again I would have waited for a Nero Corso. It's black(beautifull!!!)Ohlins susp.,and an updated crossover, and oh, a nice fairing.i paid 6k for mine and have seen a few Neros go for about 7k in my area(NYC).Its also an 04 which to me should have more value than an 02 Scura.Love the Scura, lust for the Nero. IMHO

Love that silver.Still one of the best V11 colors along with the Mandello Red!

Congrats callison! If you ride it,could you make a journal of your trip?Riding impressions, fit and finish, fuel mileage.Things you like/ don't like .Pics?I know it would be hard to be fair, with only.5k miles or so and also a new bike is like having sex with someone new,it all seems great, but I'm sure a lot of readers would be interested as you'll be one of the first people to ride one in the US.Very cool! Hope I can be the first owner to review a new MGS-01 Serie,...Oops woke up from my dream, there wont be a new MGS and I couldn't afford one! Michael

Hi Greg, As you probably know that was George Romero's intent,to make a social commentary on the mindless consumerism of the American public. 25 years later and it still applies. I live in NYC about 1.5 from said dealer and feel that no dealer in New York is and should be unacceptable to Moto Guzzi As I feel this should be a strong market for them. But the dealer probably had the same problems many of us have experienced from MG.Poor quality control, parts availability, indifference from MGNA.etc.The " this is the way we are," mentality hurts them in the big picture. They have to be competitive by making a bike that is as good, reliable, and fun to drive as the competitions,or better.Other wise they will go the way of so many great bike companies that only exist in our memories or history books. Take heed Moto Guzzi, we love your style ,beauty and charm. I think Naomi Campbell is gorgeous but I don't want to live with her!

Hi Crooz, Sorry you had to have this happen to you, especialy on what should be a day of joy. I feel your frustration with people who risk and sadly take other peoples lives without a second thought or remorse. Two people died this week in NYC by a drunk driver(he survived) on the West Side Highway,a frustrating road to drive a bike on as people drive at high rates of speed, pass on the right, weave in and out of lanes without signaling ,with VERY little police presence.High speed fatal accidents happen on average several times a year here, usually with alchohol invoved. You must love motorcycling, with 3 bikes and 30 years riding. You will recover from this.Time does heal. Maybe someone reading your account or seeing the accident will think twice about aggressive or drinking and driving. It might just save a life,.. We can only hope... Michael

Hi Gary, Do you know where I can source the Halogen/Xenon combo? The cheapest dual beam HID kit I could find was $229.00 from here,http://www.hidplaza.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=19 . Thanks, Michael

Hi docc, You do mean the lever on the Left clip-on ,right? It seems to be more resistance than a stuck cable.I'll post results when I get a chance to investigate further. Thanks, MZ

I saw a used clutch assembly from an Nero Corso with 8K miles on it for $285.00 US from a parts dealer with a good rep, as opposed to $500.00 for a new RAM.What do you guys think?I would assume fitting to the Scura wouldn't be a problem. Thanks, Michael
-
Does anybody know anything about these kits offered by TLM,? http://www.tlm.nl/nieuws/?id=36 Thanks, Michael
