If it's the Pawl spring or arm it's on the side of the transmission near the shifter under the cover. Not a big deal to pull and inspect.Lotta info here about the problem.

The fueling should be correct at ALL RPM's.The bike should run fine below 3500K(as mine does) but you get more HP and TQ in it's sweet spot 5-7K. Usually surging points to air leaks.Check the header,mid-pipe,and exhaust can connections if your mechanic hasn't yet. Also the rubber FI boots are a common failure, even small cracks will mess up fueling right quick.

You are absolutely right of course, but I doubt I would have got the response in time. Totally agree. But now that we've found you,..... ,.....Kinda like the friend that's the last to leave your party,"Oh would you look at the time,...."

This really is a (Special place for Banter,...) topic.Travel safe Roy.

If rebuilding the WP is not an option for you,the 4-way adjustable Penske is as good as an Ohlin for considerably less.I bought one for my MK1 Speed Triple yet to install it but the reviews from others members who bought on a group buy has been great.Plus They're local to the North East if you needed service. They custom make and set it up for your bike, weight, riding style so only minor adjustments should be needed when installed. This was from an email a few years ago when the group buy happened, don't know if Nick's info and pricing is current.Maybe a good reason to initiate a group buy for the V11ers as they are starting to get long in the tooth,... "Hi Michael, I'm assuming you meant 8983? Regardless, here are the prices for all the shocks and the fork rebuild. 8975: $599 shipped, paid via Paypal. $581 shipped, paid via cash or check. 8983: $775 shipped, paid via Paypal. $752 paid via cash or check. 8987: $999 shipped, paid via Paypal. $972 paid via cash or check. If you want/need a piggyback reservoir, add $125 to those prices. FPK (Fork Piston Kit): $625 plus shipping, with Paypal. $610 cash/check. If we can swing enough interest before Penske's winter special ends on 12/31/2011, the prices drop to $575/$558. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know how I can help. Thanks and Happy Holidays!" Nick 610-888-1280 sales@stoltecmoto.com

Single malt - what are you drinking?

I'm off up to visit my pal in Kilmarnock in a couple of weeks for a jaunt over to Skye- he says it's breathtakingly lovely. Also hoping to ride the A9 before they turn the speed cameras on! My GF is in Kilmaurs and we went up to Skye for a few days a while back.Unfortunately in a car.Stunning scenery.Recommend,Plockton Inn (bartender hooked us up with an awesome SM),Skye Brewery and the pub by the docks in Portree.Frequented by the local fisherman, lotta color and laughs and fine malts.Summer is busy and Midge infested but still couldn't recommend it any higher.Probably a DS'ers paradise. https://www.google.com/search?q=skye&client=firefox-a&hs=YBw&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=AwSqU8P2LNHroATo0YHoDA&ved=0CEIQsAQ -

One of my fav jump blues shouters,Wynonie Harris, great fun,. -
That's the first thing I did, and have checked several times. There's about 1/4" clearance between the lever and the pork chop when the lever is all of the way down. Seems like upshifting takes very little movement, and downshifting takes quite a bit. Ken Yup that sounds like an adjustment may help.

Sorry to hear this. When it rains it pours for Guzzi owners. If you want a beer holder Tom, let me know. Will give me an excuse to take mine out for a long ride. Maybe a bad ground leading to a regulator failure?
-
Yes.You should only need friction plates,seals,o-ring for push rod and ,lock nut and washer.Springs, clutch hub, front and rear seals only need to be replaced if out of spec or damaged.I would do that if I had to do it again as my seals were tight and clean and no signs of leakage, about $35 each.Problem is you won't know that till you open it and it could be 4-10 weeks to get parts at times. Are you willing to wait? Some would say why not change them while your in there because of the work to open it up.To me it's a moderately difficult job to do, to others, it's a nightmare or a six-pack Saturday.Depends on where you fall. By the way I have the MG tools needed for disassembling ,re-aligning the clutch assembly. Michael

Yes Docc, but not enough to make a bad shifting bike good,or a good shifting bike bad.
-
Fuel settings,CO,or an air leak. Also headers are know to leak.Cracked TB boots gave me your symptoms, but air leaks anywhere else would have the same effect.

The slotted screw better known as the eccentric adjuster, doesn't have that much effect on shifting. It is a fine tune adjustment for personal preference of where the tow shifter sits,ie;higher, lower. At it's extreme positions,up or down,a correctly working pre-selector assembly and transmission should shift just fine.Generally when you have bad shifting, missed shifts, false neutrals,..it's something else.I was getting false neutrals, replaced clutch, friction plates, all springs in the pre-selector and it still had the same symptoms.Found a used tranny, slapped the pre-selector cover from it on to my bike and voila!,she shifts perfect. The pawl spring and pawl arm if fitted with updated parts either work or break. If they are updated and not broken,it's probably not them.My covers didn't have that added brace of the later models so can't help you with that, but Ive had my cover off 4 or 5 times so pretty familiar with it if you need help.Unfortunately I'll be out of town for a week or so but if you don't have it sorted by then let me know and maybe I could take a ride up to CT,unless you can trailer it to the Hudson Valley.Um,.. I think they drink Grappa a lunch, wines too good for monkey mechanics.
-
That's odd,as I replaced my single plate for a twin-plate setup from a Griso.Didn't have to change the pushrod. It came with the cup.Only things I provided was new friction plates,o-rings and seals and hub.

what looks clean mate? I didnt pay to much attention bike was only here for 20mins I will be going over it beter when it comes for a wee stay ".Hard to tell but it looks clean from those pics" Like I said, from those pics,it's hard to tell.As in,not dirty,dusty,greasy,rusty,scratched,etc,.... Good luck getin her goin,....
-
You have a Nero Corsa correct? It's essentially the same bike sans bodywork.Hard to tell but it looks clean from those pics This should be in the "Tech" section.
-
The eccentric adjust is really a fine tune adjustment and not a cure-all for bad shifting. If clutch is working properly and fluids are fresh in MC and gearbox,I would inspect the cover maybe spring and pawl are are distorted ,and usually break soon after.Spring is about $10,pawl is about $70 if they haven't been replaced yet. After that take a look at the clutch but would check all the external things first.I had missed shifts did all that and replaced clutch and still was bad.Replaced the entire pre-selector assembly with a used one and shifted perfectly. So don't know why it was shifting badly, maybe something got mis-aligned in the assembly but nothing obvious.

Nice glad you had a good time and made it home safe.Chasing twisty roads has been my obsession for 20 years, like doing heroin.Very addicting. Will make riding such a fun bike in FLA much harder.Always wanted to get the Guzzi down there but the slab of 6-700 miles on her doesn't appeal and I'm a riding sadist.Trailer, some day(would be the first time). Will have to suffer with the Ducati ST4s for awhile,....
-
Cool.Congrats! Looks like you'll have to adjust fueling as idle is low, buts looks and sounds great, even with stock pipes.
-
The manual is essential, but lacking in many areas,I too come from Japanese bikes and manuals. The tutorials on the forum are more "real world" practical and in addition to the factory manual are essential to figure out the procedures. About about to do my Ducati valves for the first time,...
-
You'll want to check your valve clearances and adjust if needed.Thought to be tight for US specs from factory,I go with "world spec" Raceco settings.Takes about 20m mins once you've done it once. TB-Balance throttle bodies and set A/F (air bleeds, idle setting) TPS-Throttle Position Sensor Forum is acting a little funky now but all those procedures are in the "how to" section.
