First, that workshop looks far too clean..... Second, that looks like it could be a bit of an arse, but I think I could get it to fit using a welding torch, universal adjuster (big hammer) and sheer determination. Could be fun! Now all I need is to find someone with a gearbox out (for whatever reason ) and have a play to see if it could be done. Is it just the perspective or are the mounting points for the bell housing in different places?

Max Moto are good if you have a fuel injected bike, beyond that they're a bit useless. Dealers I would only recommend Corsa Italiana in London and for engine work I would recommend Moto Corsa in Three Legged Cross in Dorset or Corsa Italiana. Both are extremely helpful for any problems, whether you turn up with a bike or just call for advice and have quite a few years experience of Guzzis. I'm sorry, but I don't really have any experience of anyone else with the exception of Haywards of Cambridge - I have issues with one of their mechanics who doesn't seem to know his job, or how to replace a gasket (either that or doesn't know what's on the service) and their head mechanic kinda runs hot and cold. Still not quite sure about them and probably won't be going back.

The Guzzi site says that the 8V Griso makes 110hp - that's for what is a relatively understressed monster-style bike, similar to the Centauro. If they can make the old 8V motor make 120hp at the rear wheel, then they can easily make a proper air/oil cooled (let's face it the V11 doesn't count as air/oil cooled) make 130hp at the rear wheel.

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear - I'm looking at fitting this to my 1100i Sport, not my V11. I know I can fit a V11 'box to it with little problems, however, I'm looking at my options.
-
Would it be possible for someone to post some photos of the appropriate area of the Griso ilk bike with a couple of measurements (width of frame at swinging arm mount, distance between bell housing joint and swinging arm mount etc), please?
-
Does anyone have access to a Griso/Breva/Norge? How do their ratios compare to the 1100i Sport and do they have the same or similar mounting points, please? Just going for a little wishful thinking

I wonder if anyone at Guzzi has the common sense to read forums like this...... In the hope they do: Please, pretty please, give us a new sports bike, I'll be good, honest!
-
Sorry, forgive me for being ignorant for a second, where can I get these huggers and for how much?
-
I didn't get that with my V11!! Maybe if I bought a Griso as well.........

This thread has a danger of missing the point of itself. For all those who have died in War "They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them."

Too much plastic. Where's the engine....!? -
Has anyone fitted the Ghezzi-Brian "power tuning kit" to either their V11 or 1100, or have experience of others fitting it? If so, what do they think of it? http://www.ghezzi-brian.com/tuning_MG.pdf

Nope. the broken end fits perfectly. That's what confused me somewhat. I have come to the conclusion that this is not a stock spring. This would also explain why it didn't break in the normal place. Edit: My mistake, I put the end the wrong way round for the photo!!! This however doesn't explain why it broke in the non standard way......

1100 Sport / 1000 Daytona Mirror Replacement

I aim to please... -
Everything else is ok (I hope....). sorry about the poor position of the bits in the photo. the broken section is sat as though it would be attached to the spring, the bend to the right is the bend for bracing on the selector arm.

1100 Sport / 1000 Daytona Mirror Replacement
Richard replied to Karl Von's topic in Technical Topics
If you are just looking for a set of mirrors that don't droop like the stock ones and only have a little better view, then the mirrors from the V11 Le Mans fit. If you remove the mirrors from the supports, file a little (and I mean a little) from the arm, then they fit into the original 1100 supports and look a damn sight better. The left hand one is the new mirror Old arm Le Mans mirror fitted into 1100 housing -
The old spring seems to have a larger radius bend for the pin arm, but other than that they are identical. Both have a 17mm internal diameter.
-
Yep, cheers. That was one of the first things I did - 15mm. Only a few hours off being back on the road.....
-
I've just pulled all apart and the centre-punched marks line up for first, but the marks that baldini put on are in the right place for neutral. Thankfully it is only the spring gone and nothing else major. It did take me about 20 mins to prize the plate off of the super-glue based gasket sealant that was used in a prior removal, though!
-
Are there any markings on the selector gears to show when they should be in neutral? Also, is it a case of moving the selector forks about until you find neutral, or is there a more scientific method...?!
-
Take a good look at the reflector, too - my 1100's is destroyed, looks mostly due to the heat from the bulbs....

I'm hoping to eat my words, but I think that the least likely thing for Guzzi to produce is the road legal MGS-01 - didn't they say about 8 months after producing the MGS that they wouldn't try and produce a road legal version because it was too difficult a proposition......??? I'm still hoping for a new transverse, air/water/oil cooled, 90 degree V-twin sportsbike, but looks like i'm going to have to keep wishing!!!

They are self locking type connectors. To disconnect you have to force the fuel line towards the connection, while at the same time pulling back on the white surround, then pull away on the fuel line. It's a real pain of a job and takes some force and a lot of patience. I just wish that they kept the good old fashioned jubilee clip (did I really just say that.....?!?! )
