If you don't want to take Greg's advice, maybe you should be looking at Hondas? LOL I have an 04 Sport Naked, and it's a great bike. The riding position is sporty, but not back breaking, even for my 50 year old back. Joe

I found ball-end allen wrenches ease this, but the hemostat idea will really help. I have to re-do mine to add a headlight relay. Mine was DOA when I took delivery in Sept 2006, never held a charge. I finally got an Odessey this winter and it is holding up so far. Joe

Hi guys I suggest you search for Greg Field's actual advice. I think he recommends checking the oil with the dipstick resting on the threads with the bike vertical, to add a little extra oil as insurance against sucking air during hard acceleration. Welcome, dp.guzzi, from another first time Guzzi owner, and long time admirerer. It's hard to find a motor cycle nowadays that is all about the motor visually. Joe

That's a funny sign, but someone just photoshopped the sign on I-95 from NY. Good joke, though. Joe

I'm central, too - Griswold, Ct, near rts 138 and 165, easy to get to 169 and 97 or even 14N. Joe

Yeah, with Italian flag red and green stripes down the middle of the the fenders and tank. Joe

Phone number for March Motors in East Windsor CT
JoeV11 replied to JoeV11's topic in Travel & dealers
Very intersting about Freddy Marsh - reminds me of another old bike dealer, Sonny DeFeo in New York. My father bought my first bike there - I think it was a Moto Morini? Joe -
Just yesterday I put my bike on the trailer for the 63 mile trip to the dealer for service and a little warantee work. You do what you have to, when you don't ride a Honda or Harley. I used the trip as an excuse to leave work early for a 3 ½ -day weekend. Joe

I finally got up there with my bike; met Al the owner, and Eric the service manager. Great guys, they certainly know their Guzzi's. They will be doing the initial service, plus fixing a leaky fork leg and tank suck (tipover valve) problem, plus checking the charging system & ECU current. While it's there, I'm having them install a Stucchi crossover and remove the canister. Eric spoke highly of the Stucchi, said it really brings up the midrange. Can't wait for Spring!!! Joe -
I'm a little confused by their website - for the V11 they state single exhaust, can't imagine they would be charging $800-1100 for one muffler, where other bike dual systems are about the same. GuzzBun, what was their price for the two mufflers for your Breva, and did you get a whole exhaust system or just the mufflers? Thanks, Joe

If only it were that easy. The Harley Owners Group or the Gold Wing Road Riders may have info on their websites for major ralleys. The MGNOC has a calendar on their website, too http://www.mgnoc.com/ There are probably clubs for most other marques, too. There is a local club that keeps a calendar for CT, www.newlondonmotorcycleclub.com/calendar.html You may try a search for a motorcycle club in the area you are staying. Good Luck, and have fun. Joe

I wonder if using a stucci cross-over with stock mufflers would increase performance any, or at least clean up that midrange flat spot? I don't want to make my bike too loud, but a little louder is good. I might have to buy one to find out. Joe

Idea to lower battery load when starting up in Winter
JoeV11 replied to Bbennett's topic in Technical Topics
Are they really naming the flagship bike after an old defunct refrigerator company? Same joke as the old computers - " Name it Wang, it means strong in America! " LOL Joe -

A friend of mine was telling about his BMW sport touring bike - with a weak battery the motor would start, but die as soon as he released the starter button. The headlight does go off when starting but comes right on when the motor starts, killing voltage to the fuel injection and/or ignition. In order to shut off the headlight he has to go through this crazy sequence: push the left blinker switch two times, turn on the key and then push the right blinker while tirning off the key. Next time you start it the headlight stays off until you turn on the high beams or something like that. I wonder if our Guzzi's have that kind of system? Joe -
This must be one of those problems that comes in groups - I just found that leak thread and ordered an Odyssy PC545 from Portable Power - $84 to my door. It should be here on Saturday, just in time for the winter weather to hit big time! Here's hoping I don't have to make any mods for it to fit. Joe

Anybody know the phone number for March Motors in East Windsor CT? I want to bring mine in for service but it's an hour drive so I need to call first. Google and Yahoo yellow pages don't list them. Thanks, Joe

And yet, it was almost 60F today in Connecticut! Too bad it rained all day. Joe

Is that exhaust can a chambered box like Flowmasters for cars? If so that's a unique sound, very raw. I think Guzzi's sound like hot V8's anyway, so that's a good combination. Joe

There's a dealer near Marcus Dairy in Danbury, CT that seems to have a good following. I have been to Marsh Motors in E. Windsor, CT, they are a high quality old school dealership. I'm sure there are others out there. Joe

Is that lever next to the left handgrip a choke or fast idle? It doesn't seem to do much. Thanks, Joe

You can try the Buell footpegs. I have a pair, but haven't installed them, still waiting for the springs and pin. Have fun, Joe
