  1. It sounds like the oil feed at the back of the head will be the first thing to check when I get the tank off next week. It seems like that is the location where the oil is coming from and I have eliminated the rocker cover(I hope).
  2. Hi, I just bought an 02 model V11 sport and it is leaking a little oil from around the rocker cover area behind the head under the tank. I haven't had the tank off as I only discovered that it wasn't the rocker cover last night after replacing the rocker gasket and not curing it. I'm new to guzzis and haven't got a comprehensive manual but there seems to be some pipes behind there among which might be the culprit. I won't get a chance to do anything about this for a week or so as I'm away with work. I'm very curious as to what it is. Anybody got any ideas?
  3. Thanks everyone!
  4. Hi, I just bought my first Guzzi (02 model V11) with only the owners manual which hasn't much info in it. Any recommendations on where to get the best workshop manual. I heard about a DVD. Is there something that can be down loaded?
  5. I'm going on a trip to Milan in November without independant transport. I'm on a work junket for want of a better term. Would it be realistic to try to go to see the Guzzi factory/museum. Would it be worth it? Has anyone any info??
  6. Jazeaus, You leave a thread alone for a few days and people start boasting about the size of their holes. I thought this was PG rated site
  7. Whew, I'm back, it was an adventure but not as I thought. If anyone cares Munster beat Leicester by 2 points from a penalty kick with 1 minute left in the game. The curry houses in Leicester are excellent. The people friendly. I have discovered that the trains don't run on time or in some cases at all. I was at the station at 5:30am for my 6am train but it had been cancelled. So I missed the first connection and because my next train was 25 minutes late I almost missed the second. But I got there with very little time to spare, had to do a 3 minute test ride and get on the boat. If I had time to test her properly I might have seen the rocker cover oil leak that I saw when I stopped for petrol after getting off the ferry. It was minor looking but by the time I drove 100 of the 120 miles from the ferry to home had become strong enough for me to stop and put some oil in. I nursed her home and the experience has taken a little of the edge off my excitment at getting the bike. Other than that I really love the feel sound and overall experience of riding her. I hope this is only a minor problem
  8. I've done it. I went back and renegotiated the deal on the V11 I first started this thread with. I am picking her up on Monday. I am as excited as a kid at Christmas. It'll be a bit of an adventure getting the bike too because I am going to be in Leicester for the weekend to see Munster play Leicester in the first game of the Heineken Cup (rugby). I am abandoning my buddies and comfortable flight home to get up at 6am monday morning after a serious drinking session on Sunday night. I get a train across England and Wales to Fishguard where the nice Dealers delivery man will give me my new guzzi and I will have less than an hour to board the ferry to Roslare and from there get my first ride on the bike 100 miles home I can't wait !
  9. I lived in the states for 14 years and found people generally to be friendly and courteous. But if you went to a place with large surley bouncers at the door a confrontation with the staff was always likely to end in tears. They do tend to escalate things in a situation like that one in the bar a bit faster in the US than they would here. They have the power in their Bar/Club and if you are suddenly percieved as a problem you are not dealt with nicely. As regards the general fastidiousness in society there. Yes there seemed to be rules for everything and they were enforced, but we in recent years especially in Ireland have started to go a bit in that direction eg. the smoking ban -100% compliance here when it was introduced a few years back. I lived in California when it came in there in 1998 and it was not observed at all in loads of places
  10. Yeah but did you get the twenty back????
  11. I prefer the look of the V11 to the Griso. Sorry to anyone here who has one. How does the ride compare? Thanks for all the tips/ links/ phone numbers etc. I am going through them as much as time permits at the moment with work and all that. I got a good response too by posting in the wanted section of the classifieds here and will be going to see a few bikes in the next week. I would appreciate if anyone spots anything good if they continue to post here or PM me. I'll follow every lead.
  12. The dealer said he would put the bike back on EBay as an 02. I did try but he wouldn't deal. I may try him again after he's had time to review last months stock. Jrt I am not married to a post 03 bike. In fact I had a feeling that some pictures I'd seen of earlier bikes were better than the later ones but wasn't clued in enough to know if this was due to after market modifications or what. I do know that I am ready to offload my current bike (nobody laugh) BMW R1200C. It has some attractive features (ABS) but it's under powered and grounds on bumpy corners. Is there a short cut on line to trawling the UK dealers? I've posted in the classified section here. There are a couple of lovely bikes for sale there but all in the States. I suppose the question is - What is the most efficient way to find a guzzi in the UK (Ireland would be great but there are too few) There is a great German site http://www.kfz-nfz.de/moto-en/index.html?g...CFSxUMAodbQ-Zhw which has a massive selection but it's in Germany.
  13. I just let go of an 04 that turned out to be an 02 V11 and am now jonesing big time for a Guzzi. Anybody not using theirs much? Need to clear out the garage? Wife giving you grief? I'm your man.
  14. Thanks everyone for your help, Because of you I have been able to extricate myself from a mediocre (at best) deal with all the risk of buying something without riding it. I believe you have to be getting a below market price to take the risk of buying a bike on ebay. Unfortunately in Ireland there is such a small market that you have to go outside the country to get one unless you are willing to wait. Now I have to find my self a Guzzi and hopefully soon. I hope I won't be booted off the forum, now that I don't actually own one yet.
  15. I got the VIN and it appears to say the bike was manufactured in 02 using Alex's rules but JRT pointed me to an earlier thread (see above)which has a slightly different version of the same thing which is causing me further concern. Should KS000 read KRAKR to indicate a spine frame 1100 2000-2002 My Bike (maybe) Z GU KS000 0 2 M 112403 jrt rules italy Guzzi KRAKR unidentified model year ?? Specific bike ID Alex Corsa rules Anno di Fabricio mandello del Lario year of manufa Factory I suppose the bottom line is that the bike is an 02 model The Vin number lined up over the explainations the way I typed it but came out different so here goes again z = italy gu = Guzzi ksooo = Frame type o = unidentified 2 = year of manufacture m = Factory 112403 = Bike ID Am I right?
  16. Hi Gary, No I didn't see the Ballabio on ebay at the same time. It was my first time buying anything on ebay so I saw the V11 in the UK and went for it. I should have looked a bit more but I got a bit excited. Anyway the more responses I get here the more convinced I am that I should kill this deal and wait for a better one.
  17. Thanks jrt, This info confirms with specifics what I knew vaguely. I had read somewhere that big improvements were made after the 02 model year, and based on that I had kept my search to 03 and later bikes. The exhaust does not have a balance pipe which is a further indication that this is an 02 bike. If it is it's still a nice bike the question is is it worth the money. I hate the idea of doing it when I finally have a bike I have been lusting after for ages almost in my grasp but I still have time to back out of this deal if the bike isn't what is claimed. What do you think. Even if I let this one go I am going to get another straight away.
  18. Hi Easto I'm in Cork. The only thing I knew about was the half fairing and I only picked that up cruising this site this morning. I just want to make sure I am getting a reasonable deal with this bike and that it is what the seller says it is. Do you go to the Guzzi Rally in Inchegeela? Hi V50man thanks for that. That type of info is the reason I posted the EBay thing. I knew about the flaking engine paint issue but I thought that was only up to '02. I'm sure the bike had to be registered in 04 but are there any other indicators from the pictures as to the model and year of munufacture?
  19. Howsitgoin' fellow Guzzi owners, Well I am almost an owner. After decades of lusting after various Models of Guzzis (mostly V7 sports S3 s and Le Mans) while owning everything else and never buying one I finally went for it on Friday on EBay and bought an 04 V11 Sport see link My Webpage I didn't plan it. I know this is obvious to all of you but can you tell me the differences between a V11 sport and a Le Mans Regards Niall
