Biesel, Thank you for posting pics of my bike on dutch (?) forum. You made me feel as a proud papa The only question I got for everyone that actually post pics of their bikes is how come you actually ride with those ugly looking boat anchors stock exhausts? Please don't come back and say thta you liked them more then anything out there If you actually do that would be pretty lame excuse These bikes are ment to have something much nicer then those anchors

Al, You spoke with me in the morning. You are correct in understanding that these bar risers will actually replace your Clip-ons. Well there are couple of other options. I do like Cycle Cats but they don't have 54mm setup as of now. Very nice kit but lacks height adjustment. Convertibars do make one specific for a Guzzi and if enough people would be interested I could get a decent deal on those. Convertibars have an incredible adjustment range. The cheaper solution might be LSL Offset Natch Clip-Ons but I don't know if 1.5" will be enough though its better then nothing. The other pricey but very high end solution is Gilles VarioBars. Gilles doesn't make 54mm but could be custom machined/built. All one will need to do is to get Gilles VarioBar and get them drilled out to 54mm (biggest they got stock is 53mm) with maybe 100mm rise (4 inches). Their stock rises are 80mm (3.15 inches) but 100mm are available. I got them on my Aprilia Falco (80mm highest that could fit) and they have awesome adjustment range.

I haven't changed anything from the factory settings. I was thinking of changing Valve Clearences to World settings and getting to someone good to set up TPS. With so many replies and most of you with decent Guzzi experience I would tend to agree that its possibly is a ping. I know that we have different gas formulation for the winter times but I didn't think that it would make such a noticeable difference. I only use Premium Grade gas and this time I filled up with Sunoco 93 Octane. By the way thanks on mentioning that I can get vent hose from autoparts store. I will do that ASAP as well as getting brass (not cooper) male to male hose barb connector If anyone has good Guzzi shop in mind in 2 hours radius (150 miles) from me I would appreciate to know As John's Ryland post it looks way different then Guzzi workshop manual Moto Guzzi Official manual John's Placement recommendation -

I really don't think it was pinging though -

No, I don't think so. It sounded mechanical. How would you define ping noise. I did filled it up right before the ride but used premium gas. -
Awesome pics and especially the one above . I am just hoping I will be able to ride until I am that old

After re-installing Tipover valve as it was supposed to be (mine was installed upside down according to Guzzi workshop manual) I was able to take the bike for a short ride this past Thursday (Thanksgiving day). The result - I am expteremely pissed. This f*ing valve is still messed up and tank suction is still present. I will be removing that piece of junk completely unless someone can recommend an aftermarket alternative. If anyone removed it then I would appreciate if you can tell me what kind of connector did you use to connect two sides of the hose? I know someone mentioned cooper tubing but will it be Ok? What diameter should I use? Unfortunately that was not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is some kind of clutter noise. Its actually sounds as a valve noise. It presents itself loudly when I get on the gas. When I roll on the throttle I can hear this noise really loud but when I let the throttle go it comes down. The bike behaved well and the ride was nice but this noise is puzzling me. My bike only has about 2600 miles and I only rode it 3-4 times this year (just got it registered last month). So any suggestion from Guzzi experts would be nice. Also since Guzzi is not the most popular bike I would love to hear suggestions for a local dealer in New York City or vicinity (relatively speaking). I know of 2 relatively close dealers. One is Gold Coast but I don't think I can trust them since they are too new and actually just got signed up with MG. I really doubt they will have any clue about it. While back I called them for Tenni parts (was going to buy a damaged one and they didn't even know what it was ). The other one is Rockwell Cycles. They have good reputation but specialize more in Ducs. So any suggestion and/or dealer recommendations would be nice.

Newbie Intro - Newbie Question -Tip Over Valve
FalcoLion replied to JackBoots's topic in Technical Topics
Pictures would be nice. I see that you are located not too far (relatively speaking) from me. I do ride in Bear mountains all the time and go thru Warwick all the time. If the weather is good I will be riding this Sunday. Give me a call or email sometime and maybe we can ride together. I have a riding buddy who lives in Slothburg so we meet at Orange top dinner in Tuxedo all the time on Sunday morning. We used to meet at Red Apple but I am sure you know that this dump closed last year Vlad -
Newbie Intro - Newbie Question -Tip Over Valve
FalcoLion replied to JackBoots's topic in Technical Topics
Pictures would speak a 1000 words. Now you are saying that you cut the hose to the canister and spliced another piece in. That still would not help to mount Tipover Valve straight because the hose to the tank would still be the same. Did you mean to say that you have added length to the portion of the hose that goes between the tank and the Tipover Valve? If you did wouldn't you have a problem with kinking the hose? Also it would be nice if someone else can chime in. My question about the canister is still unanswered (see my above post). -
Newbie Intro - Newbie Question -Tip Over Valve
FalcoLion replied to JackBoots's topic in Technical Topics
How did your dealer connected two ends of your hoses? Did he use plastic connector? Thanks for the answer about the clamps. The drawing is not mine but its from MG V11 Workshop manual. So again your answer is somewhat contradicting to the picture. If its going to be oriented upside down then it will be connected wrong. Besides the hoses are to short to allow to loop it upside down. I have traced the line to the canister and I clearly saw it connected the wrong way. Can someone else who doesn't have problems with tank suck shoot the picture? Here is my picture and how its connected now. It was reversed before. Can someone chime in and confirm if its connected properly -
Newbie Intro - Newbie Question -Tip Over Valve
FalcoLion replied to JackBoots's topic in Technical Topics
If anyone wants to chime in on important subjects like this it would be a good idea to attach pictures. What you are saying contradicts with Kevin H info as well as V11 manual pictures. If I misunderstood what you're saying its because no pictures where attached. In any case I have checked my Tipover/Rollover valve and if I refer to V11 Manual (see attached image) it was installed upside down from the factory . I guess Luigi who was screwing my bike together had too much grappa that day. Question for anyone who disconnected Carbon Canister (#4 in the above picture). Did you just put a platic T and conected the the hose that is coming out from the bottom to the T or did you just completely threw it out and just connected the hose that is coming from Tipover valve to Intake manifold coupling straight? The only question I have (if someone can suggest/help) is about those f*ed up clips. Can these stupid clips be replaced with regular worn type hose clamps? If they cannot (I don't know why they wouldn't be) is there a tool I can get to put them back on and where can I get it? Thanks Vlad -
OO, I was rolling on the floor. That is one funny story.
-
John, I knew you were going to like them. They look and feel very high quality. As you can see I got Carbon ones and in my opinion anyone that makes carbon pipes that are not glossy is cutting on quality finish. In my opinion M4 makes awesome products Thanks Vlad
-
Thanks for the compliments. OO, I was looking to meet you in person. I hope weather permiting I will be able to do another decent ride. Looks like Sunday might be pretty good. I really want to take the bike on the road but want to make sure I fix the problem with tank expansion
-
Stucchi spoiler is called belly pan. Where did you get it and what did you pay for it (Can you PM me the cost if you don't want to share this info)? Thanks Vlad
-
Definitely something wrong with your tank Guys, Thanks for your comments. Since I am extremely new to Guzzi world I would appreciate if anyone in the know can confirm, based on the image attached, exactly what I have to disconnect and reconnect. I need to get it done ASAP before I damage the gas tank. Also where is overflow located? WitchCityBallabio, thanks for your overview of Hyperpro RSC damper. Did you use original mounting setup? Also do you have the picture of Stucchi chin spoiler? I thought its a small belly pan that I would like to add also. Over the winter I will get hugger painted glossy black (I think) and will add maybe a Goose decal to it. Also planning to do Jet Hot on the pipes. Also got a question about Stucchi crossovers. Do they just offer free flow? Could some pipe benders fabricate one similar just by bending and welding a few pipes?
-
Finally I got all my paperwork squared away and the bike is legally registered, plated and insured. The weather on Sunday was perfect (73 F - 23C) and I figured I will take the Goose for shakedown ride. The ride was about 150-160 miles from Brooklyn, NY to Upstate (Bear mountains) and back. Bikes sounds awesome especially with those gorgeous M4 pipes (new type - note the end cone). Compared to my Aprilia Falco (I have SL Carbons cans) I think the sound is much deeper but not as loud. Don't get me wrong my Aprilia is awesome but I like the sound that emanates from M4 as well. A little bit different. I especially like it when cursing 80-100 mph I could feel and hear a very deep baritone sounds of my exhausts. I noticed that a lot of people looked at the bike even more so then Aprilia. Riding position is way different then what I got accustomed to. I think I like it but not sure yet. The discomfort or I would say a hesitation in liking stemmed from the fact that clip-ons are narrower and passing between cars is easier with clip-ons. At least that is how I felt. Mind you it didn't stopped me from doing it. It just that I was a little extra careful. The engine seems to be able to pull from any RPM in any gear. At the speeds of 80+ mph when I would twist the throttle it felt as though bike had extra pair of lungs. Very nice. Speed wise its not a rocket but it has plenty oomph to get going. Seating position is nice but the seat seems to be somewhat wide so it creates a feeling of me sitting on the seat instead of in it. I guess I would have to get used to it. The biggest problem/disliking I found to be is at parking speeds. Bitubo damper feels as though its set for high speed only so at low speed it requires a deliberate effort to turn bars. Did anyone tried HyperPro RSC (variable rate damper) on the bike? Is there a suggested adjustment one can recommend? All in all the ride was very nice. Shifting is butter smooth and finding neutral is not a problem. Actually shifting is so smooth that sometimes I didn't even know what gear I was in. That is never a case with my Aprilia. I always know/feel when shifts occur and finding neutral is always somewhat difficult. The biggest surprise was a gas tank. I am actually curious if anyone actually experienced this problem. I know some of the Aprilia (not mine) experienced Gas tank expansion but I never thought it could happen to me. I filled up my tank all the way to the top. I rode for about 2 hours and on the way home pulled up to a rest area/gas station. Since there are no Gas gauges and I had to rely on my Garmin Zumo GPS for gas quantity I decided to check how much gas I got left. Remember its my first somewhat long ride so I have no clue how far can one gas tank take me. I estimated about 150 miles would be pushing. More like 140. (Just curious to hear from others). In any case as I tried to open a gas cap I felt that it somehow felt like its sucked in. Once I opened it looked like the gas tank shrunk a little. That means it was expanded. I confirmed that it actually had suction effect when I got back home. The tank was almost empty but the suction feeling was still there when I opened the gas cap but tank didn't' looked like it was expanded. By this time there was very little gas in the tank. Did anyone experienced or have any ide hwta can cause gas tank expanion? Almost forgot to mention. I don't like the bike to be completely naked. Especially when speeds become higher I felt that I actually had to hold on tighter. I will definitely be fitting upper fairing. I actually want LeMans setup but at the very least will go for original Ballabio front fairing tucked in as Greg's did for his bike. My Aprilia Falco - I love this beauty
-
As the title says I am looking for LeMans front Fairing. If someone is converting or converted their bikes and willing to sell the front fairing I would be interested. I would also be willing to swap for a Ballabio Setup + cash
-
Its not hard but will require a lot of additional hardware. Handle bars just clear the fairing. I am not 100% certain if the headlight will need a new skin in the back. Also it would be nice to know if anyone has experince with cross fitting parts from other brands. For example MRA makes screens for V11 but is there another bike that has same shape screen? Do ZX6 mirrors fit? If yes from what model year? And so on. It would be nice if the owners that did that conversion chime in with some details

I really don't like the new look. Original actually had a unique feeling to it with Guzzi Eagle and red background. Tenni section was also colored in apropriate color. BRING BACK ORIGINAL SCHEME :!:

Italian Moto-Fest - Sunday 30 Sep 07
FalcoLion replied to orangeokie's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
Here is the thread your bike was in. Click here. I assume based on your avatar that you had Nero Corsa. Very nice bike. I was on my Falco with the large group of Aprilia riders. We had 6 Falcos on the group and then met another one at the fest. Its more Falcos then I have ever seen together. All together I think there were about up to 15 Aprilias there. Falcos actually outnumbered the rest of Aprilia bikes but Touno was represented nicely by 1st and 2nd gen bikes. Also there were older (2001-2003) Mille and I saw a few new ones pulled up (2004-2007). Futura was represented by 2 examples - silver and red. Silver was a part of our group and the red one 's owner was also Aprilia Forum member. I also noted sigle Pegaso. As for the Guzzy I had them all in my viewfinder with the exception of the green V11 parked closer to the entrance
