  2. Educate me. I have a fixed fairing on my V11, and the speedo cable's joint to the speedo is a non-angled one. My mech told me that because it is non-angled, I need an angled one so that there is no flex in the cable; e.g. the type used by the V11 LeMans. Any grain of truth in that? Cheers

  4. Condolences, and yes, do what you think is right. Last December I had a riding buddy died in a motorcycle accident, on my birthday. I had to be the one to beak the news to the family along with a couple of blokes, it was one of the more difficult things I have to do ever. The tragedy and pain was deeply felt. For me, I regretted not taking up my departed friend's offers to go on rides with him, and he is now gone. All road users share responsibilities, and I would urge all to have that in mind while on the road. Take care, man .... hope that you will get back in the saddle when you are ready.

  6. Sad to see you go, really enjoyed your contributions and passion for the Guzzi marque. I own a Guzzi and Beemers, and in many ways the marques are similar. The F800GS is an exciting bike and I can fully understand your choice. Don't be a stranger, and please ride safe, ya? Do send pics of the new bike; I am sure that you will experience a new and different level of fun.   8. Dear all, Sadly I am back from Sydney. Saw an old Le Mans while I was at Bronte beach, sounded seriously gorgeous and throaty. One thing tho, I am touched by the hospitality and kindness shown by the members here, and I will reciprocate if anyone comes into Singapore, food and drinks on me, will play tour guide if time permit too Cheers, fellas

  15. my bike is about 13,000 miles. A mate of mine said that it hasn't been broken in, hence it will not hold the idling unless warmed up. Something about the engine still being "tight". Load of bullock or half-truth or complete truth? Thanks for the enlightenment ....
  16. Not a muffler question; but I am thinking of mounting a crossover - for my R1150R, the crossover took away dreaded surging, and produced a nice low rumble, not loud, but low rumble. Any Scura out there with a crossover for comparison?

  18. Just an update. We gave up, ... just not possible to remove the mounting plate without dropping the engine and gearbox from the frame. Wonderful, these bikes

  25. Hiya, gents Yes, my friend and i do appreciate the gravity of the "worst-case" scenario. He is the one who asked me to consult the members here on whether to take the risk to ride with the hairline. Thing is he had not ridden the bike for a year (yes, it's been that long) and he does not want to delay the roll-out if possible. I'm grateful for the input of members on any problem, more often than not, this Board has been more informative and valuable than any manual on Guzzis. The crack is on the mounting plate, and we will try to remove it without dropping the tranny. I am sure that my friend would have contemplated that, but we'll have a (second) go anyway. I wonder what lies under the mounting plate, so it is a good opportunity to satisfy my curiosity. Obviously if it is the tranny case then the risk is reduced, as opposed to direct access to the tranny internals. Is this a common problem? I understand that the Jackal / California's tranny is also mounted this way. Cheers
