  1. Hiya, Greg, I do not think that the bike was involved in anything more serious than a low speed drop. The owner is torn between dropping the gearbox (means time in the shop) and is itching to ride it if possible. Due to the position of the crack it cannot be welded without dropping the tranny. BTW, thanks for the great way you handled my last order from you, Greg. Really appreciate it. Cheers
  2. Hiya all, I am helping a mate of mine to post this. The bike in question is a 1996 V1100 Sport (EFI version). In the course of cleaning up the bike, there seems to be a hairline crack on the plate on top of the tranny. This is the plate which attaches to the frame. The following pics were the best we could take in the circumstances, I am trying to get a part diagram. Any risk to continual riding of the bike with this? Or do we have to drop the tranny to weld the crack? Ideas? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers
  3. Hiya, Greg Have sent you payment on 13 November 2008, and provided you the address. Looking forward to receiving it. Thanks, guys, for the advice. Cheers
  4. For 2007, 8 new Guzzis were registered in Singapore. This is a jump; from 20 bikes pre-2007 to 28 for 2007. And this is after much publicity and an official agent in Singapore. Like it or not, nowadays, when people think Italian bikes, apart from Vespas they think Ducati first.
  5. Hiya, I need to know where can I buy an oil seal, or part number 90 40 15 26 seal ring? The local agent for Guzzi only carries parts for the newer Guzzis (sigh sigh) and I have tried MG cycles and no luck. It has to be shipped to Singapore. Would appreciate any leads that I can follow thanks loads.
  6. Hiya, came across these recalls. Note "death" being mentioned. Being from Singapore, I am wondering how do I go about doing this; it has been a while!!!! 2000 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport Recall NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 03V487000 Recall Date: Nov 24, 2003 Component: Engine And Engine Cooling Potential Number Of Units Affected: 64 Summary: On certain motorcycles, under extended running speeds near the engines revolution limit, the engines connecting rod bolts can fail. 7. Hiya, I am asking this for a mate that has a downed Sport v1100i with a bad rectifier. I understand that it uses the same one as the Ducati monster, but is it model specific i.e. Monster 620 or 900 or what? How do I go about checking the specs to make sure that it fit, apart from the attachment points 9which also double as grounding points)? Cheers Cat
  8. Great stuff, Japp, what I see now (from the diagram) is the hex screw [26] is still holding the handle in, a pen-size metal tube [28] which should go into the bar-end. This tube has a hole across it, probably for a pin [20] which went with the bar-end. I am not sure if [27] is still there. I can probably fashion another pin using my other side's pin as a sample if you do not have it. Please let me know how much to Singapore and I will PayPal the shipping to ya. Thanks loads, I am grateful for this. Cheers Cat
  9. Not much of a tale .. mine vibrated off the bike. yes, it happened! Now for the real questions: a. Any non Guzzi bike out there with similar bar-ends? b. Where can I buy them originals and how much? Thanks for the help, guys. Cheers Cat
  10. Just to complete the plot ...... ........ it was the battery. New battery, just runit thru the charger to be on the safe side. Fired up nice. New relays stillin package so it was not the relays. Cheers Cat
  11. Why not try jump-starting it with a car, then you can eliminate the battery issue first? Starter solenoid? Cheers Cat

    Obituary

Juz to add to the database; I have just fitted a Yuasa YTZ-10S maintenance free battery. Size is good, actually narrower than the battery tray. So far so good. No modification to the seat required. Retailed for about US$95 where I come from. It lies on its side, and the terminals are in the correct orientation. Cheers Cat

  15. Juz curious ... how much is a Magni fairing? Cheers Cat
  16. Hiya, Time to change my tyres, and I recall reading something about how a Scura will handle better with a smaller 170 than the stock 180. Myth or truth? Cheers Cat
  17. Appreciate the advice ... will do so as soon as my mechanic decides to return to work, he is away and my ride is locked up in his shop. The plot continues ............. Cheers Cat
  18. Great stuff; got my relays from Dan within a week from order; when i'm halfway around the world I think that is darn impressive!!!!!!!!! So do I swap all of the 4-pin and 5-pins relays for Dan's? Yes, rather basic question, but better safe than sorry. Cheers Cat
  19. Update: Charged up the battery (overnight, no less), plugged in back it. Got my headlight (dim) back, no signals nor horn, neutral light and red oil light upon turn of key. Clicking of one of the 5 relays audible. No turning over of starter too when I thumbed the starter button. Headlight then dim some more. Next play .. towed the bike to my mechanic's; plan is to try a jump start. The plot continues ......... Cheers Cat
  20. Will dismantle the battery and charge it. Supposely a new batt; perhaps not charged enuff due to once a week usage? No, the neutral light was off when i turned the ignition, never touch the starter until it was full green. Cheers Cat
  21. Will try replacing the relays first; as the bike is down in a hospital car-park as of now. Just realised that the relays are essentially 1 x V223073 (Simens), 3 x V23074 (Tyco - 4 pin) and 1 x V23074 (5-pin - Tyco) Question: Can I replace all of the relays with the the 5-pin GEI that Dan carries? Sorry if the question seems dumb or basic. Cheers Cat
  22. Hiya ... Strange episode, still unsolved. I ride my Scura about once a week, about 40 km usually. Rode the bike without issue, parked it. Stopped riding for about 15 mins, came back to the bike, turned it on, tried starting, no pop no nothing but headlight went off, no signals and horn. neutral light went too. After a while the neutral light faded back on but all symptoms continued. Starter is quite dead, tried starting with side-stand up too. Then I picked up buzzing from the row of relays, and when I put my finger on the relays, there is a slight buzz. Will hunt for suitable relays to change, but my guess is that changing that may help, or is the buzzing normal and I am barking up the wrong tree? I've checked that the battery's nuts are secured and tight, and fuses ok too. Took a cab home. Any similar experience? Will change the relays this weekend. Cheers Cat
  23. Hiya, In the midst of restoring an old beemer. The previous paint job was really bad, there's cracked paint. I am told by a painter that the only way to remove the paint would be by sanding / griding off the old paint, a tedious process which would result in uneven surfaces. Paint remover cannot be used because it will attack the underlying fibreglass and deform it. I am thinking sandlblasting. Any ideas? Would appreciate suggestions. Cheers Cat
  24. Yes, indeed. It is a 3-D (metal?) badge. Hence I crave it. Cheers Cat
  25. Hiya, Anyone know where can I buy the silver Eagle badge mounted above the 1200 Sport's headlight? My dealer told me that it is not available separately. http://www.motoguzzi.it/servonline/news/fo...0sport-dett.jpg Cheers Cat
