  2. I am definitely NOT GETTING IT ..... Will digest the data slowly (so so glad I have time to tweak the old girl slowly ....) Sorry to put you guys through this. Cheers Cat
  3. Sorry if I was too vague, Ratch. The front does not feel planted, very light. Turns too quickly. Improved somewhat when I put some weight on the handles, although I believe that this is contrary to what Greg said about putting most if not all weight on the tank by gripping them. Will start from ground zero again, make a note of all settings and then try out the settings by increments. This weekend will be riding elsewhere, and not on the Guzzi, so will do this next week, I reckon. Cheers Cat
  4. Okie .. It's me again .... reset the pressures. Rear is fine, front is a bit skittish and sensitive, nearly lost it when it dipped in a left turn at about 60 km/h. So what do I tweak now? Tempted to tweak rebound, just one click? Cheers Cat
  5. I was at a local shop that services almost exclusively Ducatis, and they used to bring in Guzzis. The tech there boasted that only they have the equipment to diagnose the V11, as it requires electronic diagnostics. What gives? I thought that V11s are not that modern as to require electronic diagnostics? Or am I really wrong? Or is the tech simply trying to make me bring my V11 to him? Cheers Cat
  6. If the crack i snot too bad, a good car/bike painting shop should be able to putty it up and spray over, good as new. Cheers Cat
  7. Yes, will try this weekend. I've learnt to be patient with setting up suspension, one click, record, ride around .... one click, record, ride around. Cheers Cat
  8. Roger, will try out the lower pressures. Can't wait for my Power Roads, tho. btw, what is YMMV? Cheers Cat
  9. Hiya, I would like to know if anyyou has a left headlight support for a 2002 V11 Scura. The picture of the V11 Scura headlight support is below, and the part I want is number 11 below. It can be second hand. I believe that it is the same one for the V11 Cafe Sport or naked versions. Cheers Cat
  10. Shoei helmets are pretty good value in Singapore. For an example, I bought a new Diabolic for less than USD300. If anyone is keen to buy any Shoei cheek pads or visors (about USD45 each), let me know, can check the actual prices here and may be cheaper even with shipping. Cheers Cat
  11. Does anyone have the tyre pressures for Metzler Z6s for a V11? Currently running 36 and 40, feeling rather quick, perhaps too hard and too little contact patch? Cheers Cat
  12. Bummer. called them, they had a record of it having shipped out. Here's what I have: Feb - bidded and won, payment made within 3 days April - I wrote to them, they said that shipment made in Feb, asked me to wait for the items, said that it'll take 4 to 6 weeks June - I emailed them, no reply Now - talked to them, they simply sent me a "we have shipped the item on xx Feb ..." mail. All of the above documented. I'm screwed? Just found out that eBay only will pay if item not delivered and notified within 60 days. Sigh, Not-so-cheers Cat
  13. Juzt an update: Spoke with the sales department, and they'll look into it. Gave me another e-mail to resend my mail (makes me wonder how many guys relied on their web's email and never became their customers). The saga continues .... Cheers Cat
  14. Bike ran straight at speed with no-hands. Will change tyres this week, will fill ya in. But bike felt loads better after I backed off rear pre-load, set compression from 4 to 12, and rebound to 9. Front forks were adjusted by ohlins distributor. Are Guzzis supposed to be wonderful cornering machines? Forgive me, for I am ignorant. Cheers Cat
  15. Strange, my rear ohlins cannot be adjusted by hand. The adjustment rings are wound so tight that I have to either use a C spanner to undo or loosen them. Cheers Cat
  16. I had a tough time adjusting preload cos' the spring was compressed really tight. Could not really use the C spanner cos of the welded bracket for the battery carrier. How did you adjust it? Using a blunt screw-driver and a mallet? Cheers Cat
  17. Yeah, my V11 is heavy ... but when let fly the throttle ... grin, grin, grin!!!!! Cheers Cat
  18. Will give them a ring and be civil about it. Juz kinda surprised that the bike store (which sells Guzzi and Dukes and other stuff) had a pretty impressive web-site and did not strike me as a store that would ignor emails, when the email address was listed on the web-site itself. Cheers Cat
  19. Hiya, I'm based in Singapore, and in February I purchased an eBay item (a Le Mans Tank Bag) from a seller, which is a bike store in the USA. Until now there has been no delivery, even though I have sent them a PDF of my Paypal payment (made about a day after the bidding closed) by email. So far there has been no response to my email, the latest of which was sent a week ago. Any advice on how I go about either getting my purchase or my payment back? Should I give them a call or continue sending email? Cheers Cat
  20. Brought the bike down to see the Ohlins dealer in my country, yes, truly honoured to be attended to by the boss himself. He tweaked my front, noted the static sag, and made some changes to the rebound. Commented that it's funny that the Guzzi Ohlins forks do not have an adjuster for compression. Is this true for Scura or I happened to buy the replacements that do not have the adjustment? My rear shock's settings were way off, compression was at 4, reset to stock 12, and rebound was too high, adjusted to 7 clicks. Now the best part, pre-load was too high, and he recommended backing it off 3mm or 3 revolutions. We tried to set it but due to the angle of the pre-load adjuster and the tension by the spring, it was not easy to loosen the C-adjuster. Managed to drop it by about 2 mm. Handling was transformed and I can now turn with more stability and confidence. Next change would be to go for the Michelin Power Road tyres, recommended at 36 psi front, 40 or 42 rear. Will keep you guys posted. Incidentally, there was 2 Japanese gentlemen who were working on a bike's engine (apparently it's their hobby, they work in the car-product industry). They helped with the rear's preload adjustment, and went quite bananas at the V11, and absolutely delighted when I let them take it around a bit. Cheers Cat
  21. My BMI? haha ... about 26 I reckon. i'm 1.7 metres short. The R1150R is a breeze to ride, hence my apprehension with the Guzzi. Can't tell about the pre-owning experience, since I bought the bike when it was in a shop resting on its engine case, no wheels and after the last accident. It was a leap of faith, and it looks like my faith is being tested! This is a great forum, so many helpful views!!! Cheers Cat
  22. Thks, will try to answer ... The bike is a Scura that I had the Ohlins replaced because the old forks were slightly bent after the ex-owner went down. The tech told me that the frame alignment is still good (it runs true when travelling straight ). The hardening I referred to was the adjustment of the pre-load with the hex nut on top of the FG43 Ohlins forks. Off the stock settings I twisted it just a notch. I weigh about 160 lbs. Bars are stock; no luggage or screen yet. Tyres are not worn nor squared. Will try the forward weight theory this weekend. On weekdays I go around on my scooter. BTW, when I told my Jackal fren the feedback that the V11 corners like on rails, eh .... he went bananas. Cheers Cat
  23. Metzlers Z6s both front and back, not worn, though 2 years old. So far the check list is: a. Rear wheel bearings ??? b. Steering damper (mine is on lowest or least resistance setting) c. front spacer whether correct side ??? d. suspension settings (front ohlins (replacement direct from Germany), used to be soft, have adjusted it to harder). Have not touched the rear stock ohlins settings e. clip-ons - stock narrow ones f. tire pressures - I reckon within range? 37, 39 g. bent rims ??? Did I miss out anything? Thanks for the help, guys, looks like a busy weekend with the V11! Cheers Cat
  24. The Ducati monster is one of the lightest non-sports bikes around. The 400 cc version weighs 160 kg, and the 620 to 900 cc versions weighs only 10 kg more, with the radiator versions a tad more, all below 200 kgs. I reckon the V11 to weigh about 230 kg. My R1150 probably weighs the same or more, but it's lower weight cos of the cylinders' location, hence easier to manage. Cheers Cat
  25. Checked pressures ... 37 front and 39 rear .. it seems not low enuff to cause mischief. Will tinker with the suspension, perhaps will bring it to a tech to help me with it. The feeling I had when cornering is strange, like the bike wants wobble when I'm in a lean (and not a low lean at that!) My other ride is a beemer, even taking into account the anti-dive nature of a telelever, still takes a lot of getting used to cornering on the V11. Cheers Cat
