The "O-ring" from where the two halves of the drive shaft slide together?
-
Our V11 sure does look right with certain classic shapes. One of the drivers in this Porsche Club freaked out over the V11 Sport, having "never seen one in person" . . .
-
I love this analogy (that I will paraphrase) from weather forecasting models: "Some models (manuals) are helpful, all models (manuals) are wrong."
-
Haha, exactly why, at V11Lemans.com, "Operators are standing by" . . . .
-
Too funny. To wit: V11LM.com - Technical Topics . . . 107.7k posts 24/7 V11 . . . . . . 77.7k posts How To . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.1k posts That is a lot of sevens! And a lotta-a lot of "kays"!
-
Yeah, to complicate matters further, your 2003 Naked is built entirely like a 2002. Much of the 1999-2001 Workshop Manual applies, but not all. So, you'll still need both manuals. And an Owners Manual . Best news: there is a place called V11LeMans.com that will receive you with open arms !

Here ya go: https://www.thisoldtractor.com/mg_manuals/workshop_manual_v11_en.pdf

Sounds like you have the second V11 Workshop Manual. IIRC, the first edition is more complete. Probably still in three languages and not the kind of detail you would expect to find in a Japanese shop manual or a Bentley Manual for a passenger car. Pretty sure there are links at Gregory Bender's thisoldtractor . . .

Heh, a GB (my first bike) led me (eventually) to mySport. Not sure what to think of the likes of folks that would have both of these unlikely companions . . .
-
Did the same person own both that Sport and the CW/GB?
-
Seems to me that "grooming" our exhaust hard points to spread the vibration is desirable. Worst place to focus the forces would be at the heads.
-
Removing and replacing the GB carburettor makes the V11 injectors look like a cake walk (they're not). I would be trying to run some fresh fuel (non-ethanol for the GB) with fuel system cleaner through both. I know restorationists that swear by SeaFoam for carbs. (Although your "CW600" might no longer have the factory airbox fitted . . .)
-
Only now do I see the sweet, little GB500 tucked in behind @LaGrasta's V11 Sport . . .
-
Okay, here ya go, @LaGrasta! Courtesy of our esteemed member @chamberlin: Chamberlin also posted this 2002 German sales brochure that depicts the V11 Sport Naked. First time I've noticed the "maroon" color tank called "Rosso Vintage" . . .
-
Originally black, these factory LaFranchoni typically fade to a purplish tint. First I have heard of them called "Lavender" . . .

Moved to 24/7 V11 since, yes, this is a legit V11 model . . . That "CycleChaos" link is a nice try, but they miss the mark on a lot of levels. Sure, the bikini fairing was added, but may have been a dealer option. Everything about it is 2002, except the VIN. We often refer to these 2003 as "carry-over" 2002s. I have a printed Moto Guzzi sales catalog with your very "Sport Naked" shown in that color. [Correction: My printed sales brochure from 2001 (showing 2002 models) calls this "V11 Sport Naked" and my printed 2003 catalog calls it simply "V11 Naked."] Take a look at this V11Lemans.com thread and you will see your V11 (with a reference to the 2003 "carry-over" models):

Both @Lucky Phil and @MartyNZ have experience with this (difficult) disassembly. They are "Down Under" and "Under-Down-Under", so put down those ViceGrips and step back from the bench for a few hours!

Why am I persecuted so by the warlord of rotor seals?
docc replied to Pressureangle's topic in Technical Topics
Hey, thanks, man! It was the tiniest smudge along the timing chest seam on one side, but I don't see it now. I have the gasket and seal for when the time comes for the gears. -

I thought I might let my weeping timing chest drive the decision to go in there. But it has stopped weeping . . . (for now) . . . -

Makes me reluctant to tackle this gear change, seal/ gasket installation. -
Intake manifolds are tight to the heads? (No visible gaps in the gasket edges?)
-
One of the vacuum taps came uncapped or loosened in the intake?
