Welcome, Sam! You are in the right place to bond with your V11 ! That Magni-faired V11 reminds me of our Nova Scotia member @Gio 's Sport that he sold two years ago.

My VintageCars LED has been the best "bulb" of any kind I have used in the early Sport steel bucket. The AUXITO do "look" identical, but who can say if the are actually the same or another case of an identical-looking, cheaper copy? FWIW, my (almost) two year old VCm3 (left) does not look exactly like the new ones:

Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas - 2022 edition - Repository -

Congratulations, @p6x ! I am impressed with you and with your Le Mans! V11 have often been reported to suffer from high ambient temperatures, especially crawling in heavy traffic. Testimony that you have yours well sorted!- 111 replies

This is profound advice. Preloading the shift lever (THEN pulling the clutch lever) for both up AND DOWN shifts is requisite for getting to know how our V11 6speeder will love us back. Everything else I ride and drive, the drill is >clutch<, then shift. This accepted, perhaps intuitive, sequence is NOT V11 compatible! Otherwise, you might take your gearbox to bits looking for a problem that is not there . . . .

haha! Well said!

What a great run, @guzzler! Makes our "place names", here in The States, seem so plain (for the most part). . . . and those temps in ºC: 3-8? That makes for 37-46ºF! Definitely "electric vest" territory! Especially considering the "Windchill" at highway speeds . . . Thanks for sharing your story, mate! An inspiration!

Every time the V11 is started, cold or hot, the ECU runs an enrichening map for the first 4,000- revolutions. It will always be, smell, rich on start-up . . .

The bench set-up on the later style eccentric (as on your 2004 Ballabio) is captioned in the "V11 Shift Improvement" thread between images #5 and #6 in the first post: "Note the different covers, the later type on the left with the shift selector arm return limit adjustable eccentric and the older type on the right with the fixed roll pin. Set up the eccentric with about 0.030" clearance to the shift arm at its closest point in the travel. This later unit also has the extra banana shaped support plate. Guzzi sell a mod kit for the earlier bikes."
-
I probably missed that you showed that clearly in your topic title . . . While I look for the bench set-up on the eccentric(s), note @Lucky Phil' statement in his excellent "Shift Improvement" tutorial (link 6 posts back): "Don't ever be tempted to adjust the large eccentric on the shifter cover with it fitted to the bike. It is a very sensitive adjustment that controls shifter travel and over travel and needs to be on the bench to set up correctly. It wont solve your shifting woes alone so leave it alone when on the bike." That shifter pivot bolt is lock nutted an the inboard side of the subframe. Did you attend to and adjust the rest of the external shift mechanism?

Open your V11 on GuzziDiag. Select the various sensors to be displayed including air temperature and engine temperature. Look, als, at RPM (compare to what the tachometer reads and note any difference), voltage, and TPS Degrees Opening. Observe that the sensor readings are sensible (i.e.: both air and engine temp readings are ambient temp with the bike cold. Start the bike and observe that the readings change as expected. Operating temperature starts at 60ºC. Much hotter than that, use a fan over the front of the cylinders.
-
Yep, the "ETS" (Engine Temperature Sensor) is on the inboard side of the right head, toward the rear. The Air Temperature Sensor is at the right, front of the airbox.
-
I thought the same about the Air Temperature Sensor. Fortunately, these values can be viewed on GuzziDiag . . .

The Maserati story is told in Greg Field's (requisite reading): https://www.amazon.com/Guzzi-Twins-Motorcycle-Color-History/dp/0760303630/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3GU6QBDCMUXRY&keywords=greg+fields+moto+guzzi+big+twins&qid=1655945664&s=books&sprefix=greg+fields+moto+guzzi+big+twins%2Cstripbooks%2C84&sr=1-1

Oh, this says it all. I so want to love the Trident. It has an historical tie to our SpineFrames . . .
-
True! Just teasing a bit. I hope my Sport doesn’t go on a hate streak for my transgression. . .
-
Ok, yes this is a known issue and can be overcome. IIRC, there is a waiting time before switching the Ignition back on. You are very close. This can be accomplished!
