  1. Are the early V11 Marzocchi "cartridge style" or "damper rod" forks?
  2. Are we saying 5.5 stated US gallon total for the later tank compared to 5.8 stated US gallon for the early tank?
  3. Since the "cartridge" is n the male/bottom and the seals are in the female/ top slider, it seems to me the upper/female slider can be separated without removing the cartridge? Then a seal remover tool followed by a seal "driver?"
  4. So, 20.7 liter/ 5.5 US gallons total? Slightly less than the earlier tank, then. I suppose the increased length is rather narrow and does not make up for capacity lost to the internal pump/filter.
  5. I recall the published capacity of the early external pump tank is 5.8 US gallons/ 22 liters. (Not sure where I remember that from.) Again, I can only get 5.1 through the fuel tap with the tank vertical. My Owners Manual says 23 liters ("reserve 4 liters, about") which looks to convert to just over 6 US gallons. Ain't no way. The later tank gives up some capacity to the internal pump/filter, but is longer at the front. What is the stated capacity of the later long tank?
  6. [good morning everyone ... i desperately look for the color codes for a dark v11 sport, i also look for all the stickers, can someone help me, thanks in advance everyone] Recently, @KINDOY2 had a Scura tank painted well, IIRC. Perhaps he holds the secret . . .
  7. So, the early tanks (chin pad/ external pump, 1999-2002) will only deliver about 5.1 US gallons to the petcock (fuel tap) on the left side of the tank at the rear. About 0.8 US gallon is trapped on the right where fuel returns from the injectors through the regulator. The fuel level sensor is on the left ahead of the fuel tap. The fuel delivery is more likely to run dry going downhill and banking right. Out of fuel and at a stop, the bike can be (strenuously) leaned hard to the left and trapped fuel "sloshed" into the left to get restarted and maybe a couple tenths of a mile down the road. The "tip-slosh-restart" can be performed more than once on an "empty" tank. Going easy on the throttle returns more fuel to the right side trap. I watch my odometer for the point at which I expect a faint, intermittent glow of the warning light. This will be first detectable idling at a stop; getting on the throttle tends to extinguish the light. By the time my light is on full bright, it's tip-slosh time.
  8. When you say "get older" and "oddball things" in the same sentence, I get a creepy feeling and have to take a leak and swap my relays around . . .
  9. That would be awesome!!! I hotlinked that image from MotorBike Magazine, but it is low resolution. Here is a composite with a couple of his Gilera designs: But who is the artist of the original work? Is it Ettore Gambioli?

    Hello all

Nice to hear from you, @Flooky! You can always add to "Where have you been . . .", "What did you do . . .", or "Post a pic . . ." Or, one of my all-time favorites:
  11. Hmm, I could buy ten decent V11. "Collect them all !"
  12. I like "walking around" with Mike and especially how he is drawn to start-ups and running motors. Thanks, @swooshdave
  13. Yep! That is such an interesting Sport with a nice blend of various tasty bits. Welldone, there! (I tried the "Copy Image Link"/ hotlink to display an image of it here, but Flickr is on to me, so no-go.)
  14. I got one of the first run in zinc chromate green more as a treasure and part of my pledge to support this community whenever possible. MySport was shifting fine, yet when I installed the ShiftExtender I noticed a significant improvement. Plus, it just looks cool-as-hell . . .
  15. I learned about JACO from a trusted friend, SpineRaider, and expert technician. I like the analog dial, built in pressure relief valve, and angled chuck (they have other products and configurations): https://jacosuperiorproducts.com/collections/tire-pressure-gauges/products/tire-pressure-gauge-elitepro-series-100-psi
  16. Requires sign in to view. @deadpen69, perhaps right click your image(s), select "Copy Image Location", and paste here for us to see?
  17. "Wilson's Outdoor Equipment , Jackson Tn." Wow! Yes! A Mister Ben Curlin. What a fine gentleman and all around stellar person.
  18. Well, I must say our Southern Hemisphere Brothers have totally come through for the rest of us through our "Winter of Riding Dreams." I suppose riding season may be coming into some weather-related limitations down there? I hope that we No'th-ners return the encouragement and inspiration while all-y'all charge batteries and fight off the mice&ice . . . Many thanks!
  19. Gotta say, riding mySport today about 100 miles/ 160 km, the improved braking feel and power after cleaning and rotating the front brake pistons (plus fresh fluid) is really pleasantly noticeable. So worth doing with every tire change!
  20. I don;t mean to speak for @FreyZI, but if you look at this topic title in the 24/7 V11 index, there is an "Answered" post that addresses the cost. Here is a link to the post with the "google sheet" of who has signed up and a synopsis of color and weave choices: And a link to the manufacturer's color selection (ad $65 for color Kevlar weave, IIRC): http://www.riggeals.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Color-Carbon-Samples2.jpg
  21. That young lad really had no idea what he had gotten his hands on!
  22. I would think of this as a Third Gear song, rpm sweetly rising and falling, flowing sublimely alongside a meandering, shaded brook in some quiet hollow while relishing the basso profundo of the Mistral echoing off the damp rock bluffs . . .
  23. This is about as "before" as it gets. Day One: August 3 , 2000 . . .
  24. Thanks, my man! I've always tried to keep them "wiped down" and especially when I do the brake fluid bleed. This time I went with a new method and used hot water, brush, and the SuperClean degreaser that I learned about from @Chuck. Thorough rinse with hot water and the brush, then compressed air. Finished up with a rag and BrakeClean while I cleaned and rotated all the pistons. Thanks, again, for noticing and commenting! I thought they came out great!
  25. Shakedown begins for the Eighteenth South'n Spine Raid, less than four months out now. Fresh front tire (#26 + 35 rear + the two that came on it = tire #63 for this Sport), new front wheel bearings (only the second replacements), cleaned the calipers/ pistons, silicone greased pins, fresh brake fluid (in 20 months went from <1% water to >3 %).
