  1. I hate to be ignorant, but must ask: what are the "hole plugs?"
  2. Had to find a safe place to pull over and bump the idle another hundred rpm after the latest Tune-up . . .
  3. So, 270km/17liters = 168 miles/4.5 US gallons = 37.3 mpgUS. That's some smooth riding.
  4. Important to note @Pressureangle is not on a V11, but an earlier Sport with a different tank.
  5. Right, tank volume is more an actual, usable volume of 5.1 US gallons. (Don't make me reveal my method of proving this . . . ). The rest is trapped as fuel is returned to the right side of tank the away from the fuel tap. Probably the most commonly reported fuel economy in US gallons is 33-38 mpg. Agreed that dragging along at 2500 rpm is ungood. As is idling for 5-10 minutes (!). Get on, start up, ride off. Just keep the rpm and hard throttle under control for 8-10 miles. And, yes, the odometer (and speedometer) are "optimistic."
  6. Hi, Bobman! You and your V11 are in good hands with these kind folks. The only reason to get a spare Chuck-engineered/ @Scud-made SuperSpring is for your buddy who didn't get the memo. Welcome, @Bobman!
  7. Fuel selection matters. The V11 combustion is not ideally efficient and is influenced by numerous contributors. You get what you pay for. Seriously: try this current Shell V-power. It made a difference for mySport, even with the ethanol content.
  8. AKA; "Black Art?" As in: staying up all night long to try and tune the fuel delivery to the ignition?
  9. Our V11 are not the only Moto Guzzi that are not happy to idle or run at low rpm . . .
  10. So, as far as the start-up rich condition: four minutes at idle. Yet, I just start-up and leave-out keeping the rpm below 4000 for 6-8 miles. Looks like the "start-up enrichenment" would last a couple minutes once I am underway.
  11. I could probably list a dozen reasons why the V11 can cough-sputter-stumble-hiccup-fart-or otherwise "mis-fire." When the contributors all combine to some extent, addressing the "source" can be very frustrating. As is the case with all "multi-causal" conditions.
  12. Haha, well somehow that number blew my brain up and I couldn't retain it.
  13. Thanks, my man. I don't know why I thought it was an odd number . . .
  14. Just the other day, I tried to remember how many revolutions the ECU runs the richer mapping. It's an odd number (and it is every time the bike starts, regardless of the engine or ambient temperatures). @Lucky Phil remembers the number . . .
  15. My Sport would definitely cough less on non-ethanol. Then it became almost impossible here to find it in higher octane. After running Shell V-Power Nitro-Plus® for a few years, I find it performs very well. I still would not want to leave it stored in the "Nylon" tank for extended periods. Call it binary azeotropophobia, but otherwise I've had good results with the current Shell premium product.
  16. I've had it off twice. Last time to replace the original gasket chasing oil leaks (it wasn't one of the leaks). Neither time did I find anything to address. No accumulations of anything, no clogging or obstruction of the pick-up screen. Maybe if a V11 is stored in a wet environment, sitting for months and months at a time, or the oil doesn't get changed at least once a year then the sump drop would be more important (?) I would say that last sump-drop stripped a bolt hole. So, perhaps removing those how-ever-many bolts more often would be good. The again, perhaps not.
  17. WOW, @FreyZI, you saved those parts from the trash heap . . .
  18. There, at 1:15, I am sure I saw a "garage!"
  19. Yes, doesn’t that fry the fuel level sensor?
  20. Not the pump, but the fuel level sensor and the electric petcock. That electric fuel tap was only fitted to the early V11 Sports and many of us decided to go to the manual option to eliminate that point of failure.
  21. I've tried that and it is very awkward for me. I could never figure out how to keep an eye on the flywheel marks or control the motor position very accurately. My alternator cove access is also complicated by my FIAMM horns. But I'm not giving those bad boys up!
  22. Frankly, the hardest thing about adjusting the valves is removing and replacing the alternator cover to rotate the motor to TDC "destra e sinistra ." Be aware that this operation is what strains the yellow stator output wires. Yet, this is the time to refresh our alternator cover that skims the road behind the front tire. The weather wasn't right for a clear coat, so just scrubbed it and a good coat of Carnauba wax . . .
  23. Don't miss the Trout Mountain Coffeehouse and the Tellicafe in Tellico Plains . . . On the North Carolina side of the Cherohala Skyway: The Tapoco Lodge Thanks for scouting-out the area in advance for us !
  24. Sounds great @Joe! The Farmhouse "downtown" looks interesting. Let us know how it turns out! So, the Lodge at Tellico is officially full for the Eighteenth South'n SpineRaid? Too cool! Just over four months out. I should take mySport apart again soon . . .
