  1. Cross linking to this very interesting discussion about the difference in offset (45mm --> 40mm) between the very earliest Sport triple clamps (01493xxx) and the 5014xx series used throughout the rest of the V11 range. Perhaps the offset is the true nature of the change rather than the "1/2º" we've been chasing?
  2. Those Harper "98-00 Sport/ Mandello" and "01-02 Lemans/Sport" are known to be in error and have created tremendous confusion and parts errors in the past. Part of the trouble is including the 2001 Mandello in the 98-00 category, then having a 01-02 category that spans the significant changes between the "1st Gen" ShortFrame and the "2nd Gen" LongFrame (much more than the frame changed). There are also different numbers for the upper and lower clamps. I recall the SpineRaid that @footgoose's January 2000 black Sport, @Pressureangle's 1100 Sport-i, and my March 2000 Sport were all in the garage area. We found it telling that their clamp numbers were the 0149xxx and mine are 5014xx (like @Lucky Phil's February 2000 Sport.
  3. There, apparently, were no angle or offset changes in the 5014xx series of clamps across the V11 range. The change was actually between the very earliest Sports produced in 1999 and before about March 2000 with the clamp numbers 01493xxx. Your theory that the difference was actually the 45mm --> 40mm offset, rather than the "1/2º" change is compelling. That trail stability would certainly help explain reports of instability from the very earliest Sports using the 1100 Sport-i clamps.
  4. Both the early Short Frame and the LongFrame beginning in 2002 have the same rake. The idea that the very earliest of the Sport had a different set of triples was asserted by Greg Field with a reference to a Technical Service Bulletin and specific part numbers. I recall finding the earliest V11 triples were the same as the previous 1100-Sport-i. @Lucky Phil, did the triple you measured have the specific part numbers shown in the "Geometry" thread? "Does it read "01493100" or "01493130" (both early) or "501452" (most late)?"
  5. What an awesome solution, Marty! Welldone! Let's all be acutely aware how critical it is to keep that area well greased lest the nose of the crown wheel become ruined from moisture infiltration and the drive will so longer seal.
  6. The Jag was posted by @al_roethlisberger in our "Cars" thread in "Banter." I moved @Guzzimax's car post there (nice Bimmers, g'max!)
  7. Do share cars!
  8. Heh, well, I do see that after mySport turned over 200,000 km, three months ago, I've only ridden it four times. No wonder the unsettling dream. A motorcyclist cannot live by battery charging alone . . . . . .
  9. Well, truth be told, funky unsettling dreams aside, I could not have better friends. Or a finer community than thee of V11LeMans.com.
  10. So, some guy I know (he's my good friend, really, I'm not hating him for poking me with a hot stick) sends me some listing of a rather compromised, modified, and otherwise unfortunate V11 Sport on eBay. I reply something like, "Yeah, that's been bouncing around for a while. Pretty ridiculous price for something so bruised up." Then, he says (and we really are still friends), "Hmmm. So, what would it take to buy yours? Not the "market" price. What would it take?" Honestly, I had the most unsettling dream that night that mySport just fell out from under me while riding it. Then, while my phone fell apart trying to call my wife and insurance company, gentle people pitched in and worked at putting all the parts in a neat array. I mean, down to the individual clutch parts, cogs from the gear box, like a full exploded view. I even got a look at the journals on my crankshaft. ("Not bad !", we all said.) My phone still wouldn't stop falling apart and I finally woke up in a cold sweat. [You just can't make up crazy stories like this. But, gonna hafta have a talk with my bud . . . ] "What would it take?" "HOW MUCH FOR THE V11? THE GUZZI !!! HOW MUCH FOR THE GUZZI ?!? [what??] SELL IT TO ME! SELL ME THE SPORT! [Jaap !! Jaaaaap !!! . . .]
  11. Change the advance for the twin plug, or change the advance in addition to the twin plug? hange the advance how (and where)?
  12. Yep, the "hairline" cracks on the intake rubbers are commonly superficial. Until they are not . . . (Still hoping my months-old Harper backorder will, one day, come through . . . )
  13. Thanks for posting that link, again, @Speedfrog! Since eBay sellers care notoriously short-lived, I am hoping the CIT that @p6x discovered remain a reliable and commonly available solution. That said, definitely run those G8HE while you can get them.
  14. Yes, Rolf, the OMRON G8HE was rated higher, but has become largely No Longer Available. The coil rating on the OMRON was also higher and the resistor mounted in a position to stay cooler, yet these CIT appear to be the best high current micro-ISO relay commonly available at this time.
  15. https://www.onlinecomponents.com/en/cit-relay-and-switch/a11csq12vdc15r-51176058.html# Looks like the more powerful CIT, 1.5 watt coil, relay is available now in the USA. Six bucks each. Where else in the world can you solve so many serious problems for thirty dollars US?
  16. Too cool! Re-posted on this "Origins of the Moto Guzzi V-twin" thread:
  17. posted by @80CX100 . . .
  18. Seriously, this V100 concept looks very promising. I am looking forward to trying to keep up with one over the Cherohala Skyway on a South'n SpineRaid. If'n me&myGranpaSpineySport last long enough . . .
  19. Hey, "We're here 'til Thursday. Try your waitress. Tip the veal " . . .
  20. WTH, no punch line?
  21. Well, Goober would never mislead us . . . Not too hard to read "6-axis" inertia, but so much more fun when the translations announced the V85TT would have "maniacal valves."
  22. For better or for worse we have moved on the the CIT. I've been running their 1.2 watt coil versions with success in critical positions. Oh-My-RONs are so yesterday already . . .
  23. Pretty stunning that provocative advertising still sells in Europe, still sells product with "a dream." The Jordan Playboy is thought to be the start of that approach to "lifestyle appeal" . . . "Influenceable?" Let's not forget "Long Legged and Easy to Live With."
