Now that @deadpen69's original post has been answered (yes?), I suppose we will continue to drift this thread into all things similar or related . . . At the last South'n SpineRaid, I was quite surprised to see a V11 battery at full height. An image of my "dropped battery" (compare to yours) . . .

You can inspect your seat pan underside for chaffing. Look for a fine white dust of polymer on the underside of the seat pan, the relay tops/corners, the top of the battery case, and any impression or damage to the battery hold-down strap. I recontoured my original pan pretty aggressively with a Dremel and sanding drum as well as performing the battery basket drop.
-
IIRC, the relief areas molded into the bottom of the seat pan changed. Very common for early seats to press upon the battery sometimes causing battery failure. They have also been known to cut into the battery hold-down strap and press upon the relays. Mounting the battery basket beneath the subframe yields an astounding amount of clearance (like 5/8" ... 16mm).

+1, again, with LuckyPhil. This one, yes, @deadpen69?

+1 with lucky Phil - Possibly your cowl was changed by a previous owner? Your 2001 Sport has a red frame? The Harper's categorization is just wrong. They have the "Mandello" in 1889-2000 when it is clearly a 2001 model. Plus, I don't know of any 1998 V11. Along with them throwing 2001 in with the 2002. Nope.
-
I see that Harper's has this a bit cocked up. They show the early V11 Sport in their model category "1990-1999 Moto Guzzi's" (showing the "saddle rear fairing " in the four colors plus a "blank"). The correct category on Harper's for early V11 parts is shown here: "V 11 Sport/Mandello 1100 1998-2000 " (this should include 2001). Then under "2000-2009 Moto Guzzi's" we find the Ballabio, LeMans, and "V11 Le Mans/ Sport Naked 1100 2001-2002" showing the later ABS cowl with rigid storage part and 6 part numbers . None of these are correct for the 2001.
-
Interesting. The only difference I see in the '99-'01 Parts Catalog is the different part numbers for the four different colors. The diagrams all illustrate the slide in "bag" fr the monkey paw trap . (Later ABS cowls used a rigid device for the storage space.

Yep, the tail cowls changed in design and material in 2002 with the introduction of the LongFrame. That bottom image you posted appears to be from a 2002 LeMans.

Vibration in grips at 3k-5k RPM...any way to correct?

"Much Ado About Nothing" . . . . . . . . . . -
Dear me. That Scura/ image/setting is gorgeous. It certainly compares to the very first image posted in this thread by @Orson in 2005 . . . Magnificent V11!!

Welcome @2Stroke-Racing! Now we know who the Nürburgring "Moto Guzzi vs Others" rider was made after !

I'll play! I don't have any Napoleans anymore, but Scud might throw in and weigh one for us. My little CRG only weigh 110 grams, but I added them to the barend weights, having taken some metal off for the mounting points. And +1 on grip selection. The factory grips on my Sport were ridiculously thin and hard. From early on, I've used these gel ProGrip Superbike grips (made in Italy!) . . . -
Are you referring to the different 1200 motors?
-
I went looking for an image of the "bronze" Norge. Is it this (what we V11ers might call "champagne)? That is gorgeous!

Haha: "First time I ever sold a bike to the person selling it."
