  1. A sure sign of an impending SpineRaid: the Stucchi flyscreen gets mounted to the Sport to shield the Speedhut gauges. Call that done. Shakedown ride with my trusted Cohorters and Hobknobbers next Saturday ("BikeWash") before a fresh front tire. And to ponder whether to risk the rear . . . Flaunting Waddington.
  2. Proof positive that if you cannot fit a round peg into a square hole, Moto Guzzi may not be for you . . . Nicely done, @DucatiGuzziIndian! Thanks for sharing all the details!

As others have pointed out, the ride height does not so much change the actual weight on the front (typically around 43-45% with the rider on a Spineframe), yet significantly affects handling geometry. No doubt, the spring selection is fundamental to making all the other parameters work well together. A link to similar discussion and the post referencing my 5.5mm longer Öhlins:
  4. Including throttle body balance at "some rpm?" I also have learned (the hard way) that the TPS baseline can be painfully elusive. Worth repeating with absolute certainty the throttle pate is "completely closed." Cleaning and treating (Caid DeOxit®) the sensor connectors can be helpful while assessing the values of various sensors on GuzziDiag from cold start to operating temperature could reveal a failed sensor.
  5. Perhaps you will enjoy this direct link to Cycle Garden's "Big Bore Kits" even more . . . http://www.cyclegarden.com/big_bore_kits.php
  6. While "this logic makes sense", trying to index the throttle opening to a random point on the mapping, simply to add more fuel, leads to other undesirable issues. Most proven method is to baseline the critical parameters at the outset:
  7. Just conjecture on the Moto Guzzi process, but the early V11 suffer from relay failure in position one. Perhaps this led to change the electrical demand for starting through the ignition switch. The very first action under warranty by my dealer was supplying a larger Start Relay.
  8. I would add a clarification regarding the V11 that this assessment is true for V11 beginning with the LongFrame, 2002 (and late 2001 in Europe), while the ShortFrame starts through the first relay and benefits from a good quality, high current relay like the Pickers Components listed in the "answer" to the Best Relay thread.
  9. "Just for show." I dated a girl in college like that. Jus' sayin' . . .
  10. Turning the steering to exact starting is an issue with the clutch switch connectors. They are a bit fussy to get to on the fully faired V11, but can be seen to . . . These are the "bullet connectors" from the clutch switch on the left side of the spine frame beneath the fuel tank:
  11. Calling @Kiwi_Roy . . .
  12. Good luck finding a "take-off" V11 airbox. Turns out, chicks dig 'em. Although no one will say for what . . .
  13. If I recall correctly the axle nuts can be used to create a "tool" for the filter cover = 27mm . . .
  14. Okay, I had to look at Samantha Fish before her current "look." This is the guitar you refer to, @p6x?
  15. Well, "I don't want a pickle " . . . Edit: Just to make this right, musically:
  16. It would be interesting to see FLIR images of the fuses and relays after coming in from a ride . . .
  17. I completely forgot this happened to mySport five years ago! In that case, @TomH, be certain your inner rear wheel spacer measures correctly and use high quality bearings (I settled on KOYO) . . .
  18. Then, someone comes along to cheer my sorry-ass up . . .
  19. Sometimes I get the blues. Real bad blues . . .
  20. Time to service/ lube the lever pivot and bleed the hydraulics. The caliper has to be removed and rotated to position the bleeder upward and above the master cylinder. Take time to clean the pistons, rotate them with a piston tool, and press them back into the seals. Polish and lube (silicone grease only!) the pad pin and spring.
  21. Just know not to muck with The Sacred Screw!
  22. The CARC models index the throttle plate using The Sacred Screw (identical to the V11 "idle screw") and cause the ECU to "learn" whatever the TPS output is to index to the mapping.
  23. CARC Guzzi use a fixed TPS.
  24. I've run a couple Ca CycleWorks TPS on my Sport. As long as the TPS has the adjustable mounting slots, it fits our V11s. They would be more correct to say, "Fits all V11 Moto Guzzi, only." After all, not all V11 "EV-type" are California. There are Jackals and Stone and Titanium and on and on . . .
