Not not interrupt @Chuck's reply, but I rerouted my HT lead. Now to await some way of making a reasonable assessment of change once I get enough motor-minutes built up to get out again. FWIW, here is another view of the right side of mySport showing the HT lead zip-tied closely to both the phase sensor connector and wire (lower left):

Thanks for checking in, @Pressureangle. Great to see you. What an amazing effort on your part! Looking forward to hearing more about what is up with the Sport-i . . . Glad you got back!

What is the source of the "issue on the 850TT" you referenced in the original post? Is this referring to the new V85TT?

It's a clapped-out old V11 Sport, eh? So, hell-yeah. Fine ripping up and down through the R's or at 4k+ rpm, but get stuck behind draggy traffic at steady throttle (especially in hot ambient temps) and she bitches-and-pisses-and-moans. I chased the "Nasty Hiccup" for ten years (2007-2017) and found myriad causes. Every remedy made it better. For a time. A couple weeks ago, we ran across some fine fellow with a low mile (9100) '97 Sport-i who asked about this behavior. I told him, "Of course. Yes. It's The Dragon" So frustrating, I once said, "Riding the Sport at a slow, steady speed is like asking your Tango chick to waltz. She'll do it, but it's gonna piss her off." I'm excited about this discovery! My Sport is a definite candidate to separate those wires and monitor for change.

This also causes me to wonder how much HT coil leads degrade over time and "might-could" make the EMI more pronounced (less contained) . . . (Still my original HT leads/ "spark plug wires" . . .)

The proximity certainly checks out!

SpineRaiders are serious about their TechSessions. "Bring Tools" really struck a chord with HRC_V4 and Tom in VIrginia. Thanks for all the contributions, guys! Other than the miraculous missing (but caught in the wiring harness!) bolt find on Randy's Coppa Italia, the TechSesions were largely electrical . . .

This always confused me about the Moto Guzzi “flywheel” until I removed my clutch. For clarity (hopefully), the “toothed ring” visible in that view is for the starter to engage and contains the clutch assembly inside the actual flywheel (partially visible beneath, resting on the desk) which bolts the crank. The part that breaks on the suspect flywheel is around that inner bolt pattern.

Me neither. One reason I ask is that the gearbox input hubs differ on the V11 between the single plate and, more common, twin plate clutch. Not sure if either one is used on the 5 speed (?) IIRC, changing a V11 single plate to the aftermarket (5 speed) RAM uses the existing V11 input hub already mated for the single plate clutch (Rosso Mandello, Scura. Tenni). Changing from a single plate to a twin plate V11 clutch requires changing to the more common gearbox input hub for the twin plate clutch.

+1 on that! Nicely done, Tom!

These are probably my two favorite photos from the weekend:

Anyone knows a USA based companies that does Ceramic Exhaust Coating?
docc replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
Of those three, I would choose the black, but try to get it satin to better match the engine. Personally, I grown to appreciate the "bronze" [atina of the V11 header pipes. I suppose they have something similar? -
The CARC Raiders were not to be outdone . . .

The Coppa Italia started to remind of that pretty girl at the party that kept getting herself into all the pictures . . .

Since that clutch sat between a V10 Hi-cam and a 5Speed gearbox, will that go between a V11 motor and its 6speeder?
-
Thanks, @HRC_V4 ! That is too funny! Check my work, are there others I should add?

What a terrific group of SpineRaiders and fine human beings. The riding was fabulous, TechSessions stellar, and the camaraderie second to none. Welldone, all-y'all! I'll post a roll call later today . . .

@Randy is a good Sport. He deserves some lovin" . . .

I don't know who brought the fake oil spill, but Randy slept in Sunday, so he was last one to get it. The guy with the Honda seemed a little ruffled when he found under his ST1300 . . . Fair warning, Randy has it now and can mess with whomever he thinks will "enjoy" it the most. (Notice how docc knows precisely where an oil spill is most likely to occur under a V11. )

One must be careful what one asks for . . .

The rewards of a bit of undying inquisitiveness.

@MartyNZ shared this with me to link for those interested in this beautiful piece. I know @VtwinStorm recently expressed interest . . http://www.magni.it/v11_fairing.htm
