  1. That is wildly funny. And genuinely funny things must be true . . .
  2. Thank you, Sir! There was some lethal flooding here in middle Tennessee a couple weeks ago. Looks like this tropical system is sliding through uneventfully. Plus, it appears someone we know named "Ida" has invited a big blue "H" to come from Manitoba. There are still some things that can cross the Canadian border without asking permission . . .
  3. At one SpineRaid one of the fellows was running guzzidiag on a hand held device (not sure which or what those are called). It was a nice set-up being so portable and not needing a desk or table nearby.
  4. Me too. Who knew I would be still nursing this sorry-ass, maligned 2000 Guzzi Sport after all this time. It's valve train was supposed to burn up at 24,000 miles. What a piss-poor, sorry excuse for a Guzzi. Just please don't tell her. She doesn't know about the histrionics . . . .
  5. It is going to be interesting just what % of SpineRaiders bring a SpineFrame. Seems their rarity is on the rise. Even at a SpineRaid ! I can say the inaugural South'n Spine Raid, 2004, was 100% SpineFrames (n = 4), but they were "new" bikes back then. As well as unknown quantities at the time . . .
  6. It is good to know why one is crazy. Worse, lots of people are crazy and no one knows why . . .
  7. This is true of the current V7 smallblock? Is it actually also true of the V85 motor as used in the V85TT? Or do we know this, for certain, the distinctions between these current "small blocks?"
  8. I can only suspect the ebay seller got it wrong. They should take it back and make refund. IIRC, it as "Fiat/Lancia" diagnostic cable? The most reliable supplier over the years has been Lonelec ("London Electric?) in the UK.
  9. Yeah, returning to the original header design should be considered an "upgrade" on several levels.
  10. Interesting. I also saw my old VFR in that photo. It was an awesome bike that I rode 22,000 miles in two years. Just never could connect with it. It didn’t want my wrenches on it, either. (Everything was so hard to get to, it was just not enjoyable to work on.) Vanilla is alright. Right up until the garlic and hot sauce comes along… 🌶

    Decent Tune-up

Correct, 157 mV completely closed: no throttle rod, no idle stop screw, no interference from the high idle mechanism (release this last), clean throttle bore, with the throttle plate pressed fully closed (I like Lucky Phil's zip-tie suggestion). The tolerance in the Workshop Manual is given in Degrees of Opening: 3.6º +/- 0.5º If that percentage can be applied to the 157 mV value, the tolerance would be +/- 21.8 mV . . . That impresses me as really broad and undesirable. With how fiddly the value is being affected by the tightening procedure, I am generally satisfied with 150-157 mV. I used to think once set it is done, but there are enough wear changes in that system to revisit it with each tune-up (specified at 6000miles/10000km, but I prefer 5000miles for my worn-out ol' Sport).
  12. He wouldn't be the first odd-Don at a South'n SpineRaid. Pretty jazzed to get eyes on your RedWonders. And lay ears to that sweet Ambassador . . .
  13. @HRC_V4 . . . If your buddy's name is "Bill", bring him along. TDM are edgy-fringe and he can keep company with our treasured SpineRaider friend: IndianaYamaBill, along with NYHondaScott , but also other "Scotts" like @sctt2525 and PA_baddass-Jackal_Scott and more "Bills" like HotDog&Griso-Ballabio-Norge-Bill (you know who you are. I'm not namin' any names, but his initials are: @Bill Hagan) Some things never change: Get There. Bring Tools.
  14. Wow, wow, buddy! My son (V7café) and I were talking about you and this "campout" this very day! I kid you not! So glad to hear you are still doing this.
  15. There appears to be a lot of excitement about this, of course, so the various posts will just run their courses. Yes, it is about "Newer Models" , but also about the "Centenary", and seemingly applicable to other threads as well. Have at it, y'all. Classically unmoderatable content. Like everyone pulling up to the riverside and letting their dogs loose to run and romp and splash. Best to just stand back and don't get muddy!
  16. There are at least three current threads with common content, maybe four. Frankly, merging is a disaster. Anyone interested will just have to follow them all. Anyone posting should decide which thread to focus their efforts on and try not to post and reply in all of them.
  17. When I bought my 2000 Sport new in 2000, the dealer had a 2000 Quota in khaki/forest green. I've always loved that color combo, yet the only ones I have seen since are red or black . . .

    Diagnostic Cables

    What was the source?

    Diagnostic Cables

Which cable does not fit, the Casper’s TPS Breakout Harness ?
  20. Pretty sure this would steal the show at the Seventeenth South’n SpineRaid…..
  21. I've long held the opinion that you can't make very much of a mistake with modern tires from the major manufacturers. If I don't like them for some reason, they will soon be used up . . .
  22. Well done, Sir! Thanks for the update and ride report, @HRC_V4! Keep 'em coming! Hey, some things are worth repeating:
